Romney-Trump 2012?

(CNN) – The Donald says it's the buzz.

Asked Friday in a guest appearance on ABC's "The View" if he was interested in joining Mitt Romney's presidential ticket, Donald Trump asked, "Who would turn it down?"

"A lot of people are asking that question," he added. Not known for his modesty, Trump said, "A lot of people are asking that question. I think probably that won't happen, but I'll do anything I can to help this country get balanced again because we are a mess."

Trump endorsed Romney in February, and is scheduled to participate in a fundraiser on Tuesday at his Las Vegas casino with Romney and former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.

Trump has become a vocal and effusive backer of Romney in television appearances and on social media. Before endorsing Romney, he met with several of the GOP presidential candidates and even announced a presidential debate, which was later canceled when several candidates declined the invite.

He said Friday that he was performing well in polling at the time. Although he briefly fared well in national polls early in the election cycle, several surveys from last spring showed a majority voters ultimately disapproving of a Trump candidacy. One released hours before he announced he would not seek the White House showed seven out of ten Americans saying he had "no chance" of winning the election.

Trump brings perceived baggage to the Romney campaign, including his questioning of President Barack Obama's birthplace and birth certificate. He and other prominent conservatives have raised questions about Obama's birth, as "natural born" U.S. citizenship is a requirement for the presidency.

"Donald Trump has become the 'birther' in chief," Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for Obama's re-election campaign, said on MSNBC Friday.

Though Trump tweeted as recently as last Friday "Let's take a closer look at that birth certificate," Kevin Madden, a Romney adviser, said Friday that questions about Trump's views on Obama's nationality should be a thing of the past.

"When you endorse someone, you are basically signing onto their views," Madden said on MSNBC.

Eric Fehrnstrom, a senior adviser to Romney, on Friday said, "I can't speak for Donald Trump ... but I can tell you that Mitt Romney accepts that President Obama was born in the United States."

"He doesn't view the place of his birth as an issue in this campaign," Fehrnstrom said on CNN's "The Situation Room."

Obama released the long-form version of his birth certificate in April 2011 that shows he was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Soon after it was released, Trump announced he would not make a bid for the GOP presidential nomination.

Trump made light of the issue in his appearance on "The View," when one of the co-hosts handed him a slip of paper and called it her birth certificate.

"I'd like to see Obama's," he quipped.

HA! That would be hi-la-rious!!! Not sure why anybody would even ask him the question...Of course he would say yes! And once again his arrogance shines through! I don't think much of Romney, but I am hopeful he wouldn't be dumb enough to even have Trump on his list of possibilities...Give me a break, Donald

Why would Romney post-up with with Trump, a man who promised to show his tax returns when he was flirting with the ideal of the presidency and used the excuse that after his TV series was over he'd do so. Romney has no idea of what this guy is hiding, that alone reflects badly on Romney's judgement.

Romney will not select Trump even though he would be a good attack dog – albeit of the toothless bloated flatulent persuasion – because Trump’s million dollar rug that he always seems to glue backwards to his coconut will lose the election. Romney will select Rove as his running mate. But Sarah Palin will storm the election floor and seize the nomination from Romney/Rove – with Hatch as her running mate!!

Sarah ‘No Pardon for that Turkey’ Palin will be our next President…!

Oh boy.. Do we laugh or do we cry..
I can laugh as long as they don't get elected.. Cry if they do..
    What a joke..
I guess this is the best money can buy huh? I see a day not to distant in our future where we will have rich idiots running the country, sort of like the rich elite of Roman times.. Born into wealth and born to rule.. Idiots with wealth and power..
We better get back to a honest election.. With honest intelligent candidates, chosen from among the best of America..Not the system where you buy your way in.... its a recipe for disaster.. was in every other time in history.. And will be for America too.

-Obama - Our FIRST Cow Pie President, Served Fresh Daily

Every Obama proposes involves funneling more and more government money to his union lackeys at OUR expense. The problems with the school systems will NOT be solved with smaller classes. The liberal run union controlled school systems, that we have dumped trillions into, is a complete failure. We used to have the best school systems until the liberals and unions got their grubby hands on them.
Care to give us a date as to EXACTLY when that happened? You seem to be full of information that does not check out, or full of something. It does nto surprise me in the least that the Romney family has a direct interest in de-funding public schools, since a Romney stands to make a substantial profit if they accomplish that. Undoubtably, it will result in the death of public school in this country, but hey, at least another Mormon aristocrat will have manipulated the system to their favor and left the rest of us with nothing. That's real morality, a la Ayn Rand, at work: in other words, no morality.

I think Romney's a near-moron and the whole Republican party is a clown car with zero credibility at this point, but I THINK even they would know better than to give this ridiculous narcissit a veep spot.

Then again, last time their guy picked Palin (or was weak enough to have her picked for him), so I don't put much past them at this point.

I'm not surprised Democrats fall for these articles. They love Obama despite higher unemployment, higher government debt, higher gas and food prices, S&P downgrade of our nation's debt, 18 million more people added to the food stamp program, the administration's centerpiece legislation(The Affordable Health Care Act) is currently being reviewed by the Supreme Court for its legality, Solyndra(500 million wasted), Fast & Furious, and thousands of innocent people killed in Paskistan and Afghanistan. This ticket will never happen.
And all this has happened solely due to Obama? Were we living in a wonderful rightie paradise before that, and when Obama was elected it all went to hell? Individual mandate- GOP idea. Fast and Furious, program inherited from Bush. Iraq and Afghanistan was a problem before Obama took office, and we spent billions on those countries off the books and with no bid contracts to companies with ties to the Bush administration, so complaining about Solyndra is pointless. Government spending has grown at the slowest rate since Eisenhower: that is a fact. S&P downgrade attributed to breakdown in political process due to the GOP. Gas prices are lower than they were 4 years ago when they were well over $4 a gallon. Plain and simple, you're wrong. Get over it.

An expert? Have you seen the clip of his face when Obama was roasting him last year? Priceless! This shows that the guy is truly completely clueless.

Trump would be a great choice to remind everyone how different he and Trump are from those of us who work for a living. Two rich, spoiled elitest kids who grew into adults who still have never known what life is for the bottom 909.9995% of the country.

  23. Vote the Tea Party OUT in 2012

PLEASE do this Mitt........a 1%/1% ticket. That would practically ASSURE Obama the White House again, unless the Koch Brothers can buy up more votes and the GOP can keep working to supress even more votes.
