(CNN) – The Donald says it's the buzz.
Asked Friday in a guest appearance on ABC's "The View" if he was interested in joining Mitt Romney's presidential ticket, Donald Trump asked, "Who would turn it down?"

"A lot of people are asking that question," he added. Not known for his modesty, Trump said, "A lot of people are asking that question. I think probably that won't happen, but I'll do anything I can to help this country get balanced again because we are a mess."
Trump endorsed Romney in February, and is scheduled to participate in a fundraiser on Tuesday at his Las Vegas casino with Romney and former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
Trump has become a vocal and effusive backer of Romney in television appearances and on social media. Before endorsing Romney, he met with several of the GOP presidential candidates and even announced a presidential debate, which was later canceled when several candidates declined the invite.
He said Friday that he was performing well in polling at the time. Although he briefly fared well in national polls early in the election cycle, several surveys from last spring showed a majority voters ultimately disapproving of a Trump candidacy. One released hours before he announced he would not seek the White House showed seven out of ten Americans saying he had "no chance" of winning the election.
Trump brings perceived baggage to the Romney campaign, including his questioning of President Barack Obama's birthplace and birth certificate. He and other prominent conservatives have raised questions about Obama's birth, as "natural born" U.S. citizenship is a requirement for the presidency.
"Donald Trump has become the 'birther' in chief," Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for Obama's re-election campaign, said on MSNBC Friday.
Though Trump tweeted as recently as last Friday "Let's take a closer look at that birth certificate," Kevin Madden, a Romney adviser, said Friday that questions about Trump's views on Obama's nationality should be a thing of the past.
"When you endorse someone, you are basically signing onto their views," Madden said on MSNBC.
Eric Fehrnstrom, a senior adviser to Romney, on Friday said, "I can't speak for Donald Trump ... but I can tell you that Mitt Romney accepts that President Obama was born in the United States."
"He doesn't view the place of his birth as an issue in this campaign," Fehrnstrom said on CNN's "The Situation Room."
Obama released the long-form version of his birth certificate in April 2011 that shows he was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Soon after it was released, Trump announced he would not make a bid for the GOP presidential nomination.
Trump made light of the issue in his appearance on "The View," when one of the co-hosts handed him a slip of paper and called it her birth certificate.
"I'd like to see Obama's," he quipped.

If, by some God-forsaken reason, these two money-grabbers got elected, the middle class is gone, children, elderly, and infirm buried. Mitt thinks he can pick up his own turds by the clean end, and Trump will be giving lessons.

Trump is 100% corret that our country is in a total mess. An inexperienced Obama has made a bad situation into a total wreck. He has to go so democrats/liberals get ready to see Obama voted out of office in November/12. Get used to the idea because it will be a reality soon. We cannot afford 4 more years of Obama's failed policies. Time for him to go back to Chicago.

I'm an Independent, but when people write post such as this it is a sad day in American. To quote "Glen Beck" pretty much word for word and try and pass it off as your own ideas is simply depressing. You did not list in your post "EXACTLY HOW" has this president made a bad situtation worse? The sad truth is both parties created this mess but the republican party has become so morally bankrupt that the American voters would have voted Stalin before and republican. And these are the same policies many that post on here wish to return to. Some people make you just shake your head and wonder.
I actually had to re-read the headline twice to make sure somebody didn't spike my coffee. The rest of the article? I didn't even bother.
Please God, tell Mitt to choose Donald as his VP running mate!
really? i would hope romney wouldn't be that suckered in and make such a bad choice, but yet, it did happen to mccain.
"Who would turn it down?" The Donald would.
Donald Trump is the ultimate Alpha male, he won't play second fiddle to ANYONE, least of all a businessman who is "only" worth $200 million compared to Trump's "estimated" $7 billion.
What can take the heat away from Romney for being rich? How about taking on a VP candidate who's way richer?
Yes! Please! Romney/Trump for 2012... the perfect ticket... to make sure Obama gets re-elected.
No Mitt. This time YOU hold him down and I'LL cut his hair off!!
Wow ! Liberals are deathly afraid of successful businessmen ! Too Funny !
Now THAT would be ill-advised. But isn't it like the Republican Machine to recklessly arrange for a brow-raising #2-spot, to get a lot of attention before their "plane goes down". Voters do not want or need VP candidates that are selected for their "stunt" value. You'd think they'd have learned that from the last time.
Romney & Trump, then add Palin for Secretary of State, and we have the 2012 remake of the Three Stooges.
They can call it the Dumb and Dumber ticket.
Trump, The Blowhard King of the Birthers as Mitt Robmeofmyjob's VP! Please, Yesssss! Niether one of them are qualified. Both brag about what they did and what they can do, which is nothing. Both are liars. Both are greedy and could care less about the less fortunate. They make a great pair of clowns. Obama will beat them handily.
Donald "ORANGE JULIUS" Trump would add some color to the ticket. Some orange color.
"Who would turn it down?"
Don't you read the papers, Donald?
I dont think trump could stand being number 2 for more than a week. he big fat ego and loud mouth would doom them both. hey thats a good thing. romney is a moron anyway
Hey, since Palin was such an attribute to the GOP election last time, why not this guy? Good God, we're the laughing stock of the universe.
trump is a lying crook and so is mittens. to hell with them both
Fred - "successful" businessman? How many times has he been in financial trouble? and how many wives?
I would like to see the GOP implode with that pick. It may actually be a worse pick than Sarah Palin. C'mon GOP, don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
Let's hope it happens. The Nov. vote count will take about twenty minutes and Barack Obama can get back to fixing what the Bush folks dismantled.
Trump will get support from the ignorant like the caller that called into Washington Journal this morning. Maria Bartiromo was the guest. The caller called Obama a Facist and said Obams hates capitalism. Sadly Maria never corrected him and just answered with a common Wall Street response of the merits of keeping the status quo. The public figures of the monied class are encouraging this kind of talk by not correcting them in public...Wall Street and the elites are using Trump types to get the ignorant and bigot vote...I have lost all respect for Maria Bartiromo..
This will indeed seal the deal! Although the one good thing I agree with "The Donald" is that he knows China is ripping America big time, and he is strong & determined to stop China from profiting & taking advantage of America. This Mr. Trump has got it right!
Trump? Cheney? Can't decide. What could possibly go wrong? The guys who hate liberals deserve the ticket, but I don't believe anybody else deserves it.
If Romney put him on the ticket Romney would be creamed.
