Will falling gas prices help Obama?

Washington (CNN) - There's good news for drivers hitting the road this Memorial Day weekend: Gas prices are falling.

Regular unleaded dropped to a national average of $3.71 per gallon this week, 23 cents below an April high of $3.94, according to the federal government.

GAS PRICES HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PRESIDENT! ANY PRESIDENT! EVER! How long is it gonna take to learn this? It's always the opposition that perpetuates this lie. GOP wants Obama to lower the price of gas AND keep government out of the private sector??? Hypocrites that deserve to lose this election.

I notice that the talk of gas prices has been totally absent in the latest GOP attacks on the president. I wonder why. Well here's a clue, they were more than HAPPY to blame him for the rising cost of gas knowing darn well that NO president can control fuel prices...but now since are having the lowest gas prices since about this time last year we hear crickets from the GOP. Does Obama deserve credit for the prices falling? I doubt that he does in fact I have not heard he himself bring up the subject, but if he did the GOP would rather give the credit to Bush than Obama..that is just the way they are.

It's hilarious! …When the gas prices was high, EVERYBODY had something negative to say! Now that they are falling, "can't hear a peep" from anybody. Well, Pres. Obama, GOOD JOB! We got your BACK, as you continue to move us FORWARD!!! ~OBAMA/BIDEN 2012~

If that would be converted into a local currency in SEA, it costs about 2.8 liters.

No, it will not help. Why? Only the simple-minded right-wing in this nation believe that a single man is responsible for the gas prices. Regardless of all the many contributing factors totally out of our hands. Those same simple-minded people will HATE Obama no matter what he does. His skin color and that little (D) next to his name make the "anti-Christ" in their simple minds.

This week gas has gone up $0.20 a gallon here in Utah and I don't see them backing off for weeks. Right now we are paying at the pump from when oil was at about $110 per barrel, where we closed today at $90.72 per barrel. We will not see this drop bottom out at pump until 9/12 with the amount of time it takes to get the cheeper oil to market. The funny part is it is all about timing to have it as low as possible just before the vote. Then Obama will look to take credit.

Will falling gas prices help... will rising gas prices hurt... does Obama have the final say on the world economy? I don't think so. He has a hard enough time getting the U.S. congress to agree with anything let alone the world.

When the election rolls around, we should be starting to see prices of goods begin to gradually drop, but not in time to benefit Obama. Besides, it is his policy towards oil that got us here in thje first place.

Drilling for oil, under Obama, has been higher than it ever has, the idea that they don't dril is a myth.

I guess now that gas prices are lower it's Pres. Obama fault? Yes! Strange all you hear are the sound of cricket on the right. Now CNN you should go back and ask all the Republicans blowholes is Pres. Obama responsible for the lower prices of gas? Ask them to come on your Sunday show.

President Obama will win again no matter what the price of gas is. Just ask No Term President Bachmann and Wanna-President Willard about that.

All it proves is that whatever the US does NOW has very little impact on domestic oil prices which are controlled by
other nations democratic or not many of whom are OPEC members plus a factor outside any presidents control if as happened Libya erupts into civil war, iran get ornery about uranium enrichment and those supplies are curtailed.
there are more permits our for domestic production, higher actual production i.e at record levels. It will take 10 years of totally untramelled oil supply development in US to lower pump prices in USA and then we'll have anothe r version of the BP gulf spill or the water table being distroyed and polluted in the mid west by the canadian oil pipeline which is " dirty oil" and by the way most is slated for export by the oil giants not for domestic use.
That said the global economy at present will lower oil price internationally and Pump prices in the US irrespective of US drill baby drill or pipeline construction..... on this matter its only the route and environmental risks that are the real debate not jobs, or pump price reductions.... they will occur whoever is president ove the next 6- 12 months.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

Just a few months ago, when gas prices shot up, ALL GOP idiots were blaming Obama. So now that gas prices are dropping, where is the praise? Do they see their own stupidity? I doubt it!

Of course not. We never hear about the good is prices are falling but we heard plenty from the tea baggers when they were wrongly accusing the President when the price was going up.
The whole teapublikan party are bullies of the worse kind.
