Obama pledges support for veterans, families

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama used a Memorial Day ceremony to say it is time for America to properly welcome home Vietnam veterans and show them and their families the respect and gratitude they deserved but didn't receive decades ago.

"You came home and sometimes were denigrated when you should have been celebrated," Obama said beneath a scorching sun at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. "It was a national shame, a disgrace that should have never happened. That's why here today, we resolve that it will not happen again."

Sure, Obama! In Feb. 2012 he proposed sharp healthcare premium increases for military families and retired vets (for Tricare coverage) - between 30% to 78% per year the first year, then increases from 94% to 345% the next five years. His primary goal is to force military folks into Obamacare - but of course this won’t begin until NEXT YEAR – so as not to upset military voters during this election. Gimmeabreak!

I praise President Obama for paying his respects to the heroes who gave their lives and the veterans who are still alive.

Here we go again........Obama buying votes. This man will do anything to get votes. He was not saying this before but because its an election year he is trying to manipulate the Vets now for their votes. I hope they are not taken with his fake interest in their well being. Vote Obama out of office in November/12......its time for him go!!!!!!!

Obama has always supported veterans. Too bad the last President didn't give American veterans the aid we deserve. Families were required to buy armor so their family member veterans could have a better chance in the field. Some even bought vehicle armor. People don't remember these things after the fact. They are too busy demeaning a President who actually cares for veterans. It is time we began showing our Commander in Chief respect for the great things he has done and continues to do for our military.

@alonysus love the Bush bashing....Congress appropriates the money and gives it to DOD>>>what happens after that is something else. The DOD gives congress a wish list, and if the money is approved fine if not then you have a problem. Obama Cares? I don't think so...check out what he has set up for Tri-care starting next year...then come back and say something..

In ongoing discussions about healthcare reform, President Barack Obama offered assurance to those receiving medical care through TRICARE or the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA): Your benefits are safe. Racist rhetoric knows no bounds, America is tired of you bashing our standing President. Be an American or go wherever your family landed here from.
