Organizations urge Boehner not to vote contempt against AG

(CNN) - With the threat of a contempt charge hanging over Attorney General Eric Holder, 14 civil rights, labor, and liberal activist groups Tuesday urged Speaker of the House John Boehner not to proceed to a contempt vote.

The organizations, which are closely allied with the Obama administration, charged that to hold the attorney general in contempt for failing to turn over demanded documents on the "fast and furious" investigation "seems to be a rush to judgment intended to create a stain on the office of the attorney general."

hmmmm...when asked to go after folks in the Bush adminstration for possible war crimes, Obama refused to do so. He kept Karl Rove and Dick Cheney from possibly going to jail and how did they reward him.....attack him left and right including telling untruths and halftruths on him. I have a feeling John is not going to honor their request.

You are so right with everything you said.

However, I learned a long time ago to never take your foot off your enemies neck (when you have them down) or else be prepared to change places with them. This is what's happening with the president now. Given how he has treated George and Co. – it would be in their best interest to let go of this and get on with the nation's business but we know that would be too decent and too much to ask of these desperate hate monkeys.

And while they're throw in Bush's former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales because it was clear Bush got him out before to avoid any prosecution and what about that slim bucket Karl Rove and while you're at it Mr. Boehner we'd like to see you hold the whole Bush administration for war crimes. Come on Mr. Boehner and make my day.

GOP/Teatroll response: "Sorry, no can do. We were hoping to fabricate enough crap to impeach Obama, but it's not gonna happen, so we need to go after the other dark one."

""And why do I feel so (un)comfortable about the word 'hero'? I feel uncomfortable about the word 'hero' because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war." "

Nothing gets you in trouble in the MSM like speaking the truth.

@ Lost in Texas FOREVER and Woman In California,

The reason Eric Holder didn't bring charges against Bush and Cheney and Rove is because THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL !!!! If you have any evidence of illegality perhaps you might send it to them. Otherwise go back to MSNBC and wallow in the slime their.

Apparently Holder is withholding Docs from Congress, which is not unprecidented, nor is a Contemp charge from Congress to Administrations. There are many reasons for with holding these things but in this case they are making it look worse and worse even with the their media friends not digging into the issue. They look foolish and have lied to Congress. I think they are hiding something and Holder may not last till the election.

Reading all of the drug addict hate stuff in here, I guess I have to ask why not hold Holder in contempt? It is not just the Fast and Furious, it is all of the other bad partisan decisions he and this corrupt administration hae made. I know that Boehner will not fall for the ridiculous democrat liberal moral equivalency position as Lost proposes, of the just plain hatred (probably racial) of Cindy.

I am sure if Holder was a white man, these same organizations would not come forward and request the same thing of Boehner. The comment might be "go get him....he should not be able to get away with it". They are only saying this to please themselves.

I see the racist hatred from the left is continuing on here. I guess the left does not realize that the more racist they sound, the more obvious hate in their posts, the less credibility they have.

  21. The REAL Truth...

@rob – The reason Eric Holder didn't bring charges against Bush and Cheney and Rove is because THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL !!!!
    ---------------------
So revealing the spouse of a govt employee as being a CIA is not illegal eh? Maybe not in your view, but in mine that ranks a treason, regardless of who did it! Of course, the infamous Fast and Furious program which is being mentioned in the article is merely a continuance of a program initiated under the Bush admin – whether he knew about it or not. So pls, at least call it what it is.....

@lost in Texas,Cheney ,Bush and 8 others can't ever leave the states. They have indictments filed and signed by 147 countries for human rights violations for torture, false imprisonment ,waterboardings and other crimes, too much to list.Their next trip outside the states would be to the Hague for a war crimes tribunal if caught.Pres.Obama against the advise of foriegn human rights lawyers has protected Bush and the rest for years, nice presidencial material ,innocents blood on all their hands,he'll pay some day!!!
