(CNN) - President Barack Obama called presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney on Wednesday to offer congratulations on reaching the number of delegates required for the GOP nomination, both candidates' campaigns acknowledged Wednesday.
"President Obama said that he looked forward to an important and healthy debate about America's future, and wished Governor Romney and his family well throughout the upcoming campaign," the Obama campaign said in a statement.

The call took place at approximately 11:30 a.m. ET while Romney was in California, and a Romney campaign source added the conversation "was brief and cordial."
"Gov. Romney thanked the President for his congratulations and wished him and his family well," the Romney campaign source said.
Romney surpassed the GOP "magic number" of 1,144 Tuesday evening, and CNN projects he now has 1,171 delegates for the Republican National Convention, which will be held in Tampa this August.

President Obama has maintained his statesman demeanor, and his command of the high road throughout unprovoked and ridiculous attacks on him, his leadership, and even his place of birth. He proves over and over who is the true leader, and adult in a room full of wannabes.
He continues to provide steady, stellar and sane leadership in the midst of GOP induced chaos.
This is what a true President looks like, and acts like.

Let me break the news to you that then Sen. Obama did not use teleprompters during any presidential debates. BTW, he didn't write any notes in the palm of his hands, either.

And Willard's record as Gov in MA is fair game too. Was 37th in job growth pre-Willard. Fell back 10 spots to 47th with Willard's private sector experience crashing it. Rest of the nation grew at 3 and a half times that of MA with Bain RMoney wrecking shop.
