Obama telephones Romney congratulations

(CNN) - President Barack Obama called presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney on Wednesday to offer congratulations on reaching the number of delegates required for the GOP nomination, both candidates' campaigns acknowledged Wednesday.

"President Obama said that he looked forward to an important and healthy debate about America's future, and wished Governor Romney and his family well throughout the upcoming campaign," the Obama campaign said in a statement.

The call took place at approximately 11:30 a.m. ET while Romney was in California, and a Romney campaign source added the conversation "was brief and cordial."

"Gov. Romney thanked the President for his congratulations and wished him and his family well," the Romney campaign source said.

Romney surpassed the GOP "magic number" of 1,144 Tuesday evening, and CNN projects he now has 1,171 delegates for the Republican National Convention, which will be held in Tampa this August.

Once again President Obama proves he is a class act. Unlike his opponent who choose to spend the evening with birther slime rather than mark the occasion at a rally in Texas. Guess you know how highly you rate Texas.

Romney should be practicing standing up to Trump and Limbaugh before he enters the "arena" with President Obama.

Do you think Mitt Romney would have done the same had the roles been reversed? He didn't seem overtly eager to reach out to his fellows during the primaries.

The gentleman,Pres.Obama congratulated Romney on this, his one and only real win. Will it be the other way around come November, with Romney congratulating the incumbent.I really don't think so,but I may be wrong, but Romney comes off as a spoiled brat and a sore loser and probibly won't give him the credit the incumbent is due.Romneys arrogence will show, passing the blame on someone for his loss, not him,he's the Mormon savior for his kind, the 1%,,but his kind doesn't have enough votes to put him in the WhiteHouse ,that's all ,pure mathematics,1% isn't greater than the 99% that we all belong too!!! Obama/Biden 2012 !!

Who cares if Romney came to Texas or not. All we care about here in Texas is making Obama a term president, which by the way will happen.

I have the PERFECT solution. Barack Obama can be President of the United States of America for another 4 years, and Mitt Romney can be President of the Untied States of Amercia. I just saved everyone tons of campaign money and the headache of being bombarded with nasty attack ads. You're welcome!

The President is going to run circles around Mittens. The GOP's antagonistic attitude towards him has honed him into a master chess player forced to play with folks who can barely play checkers.

He's going to kill you with kindness Mittens, but he's taking you out nonetheless.
Weave and dodge Mittens! Weave and dodge!!!

President Obama, not Mr. Obama first of all lets be respectful and honor the title this man has earned and worked for. I can respect that people develop opinions on how changes would effect their personal life but lets be real. Don't be consumed with the wrong things. Republicans are upset because the amount of money they would pay in taxes is more that someone who is poor? So instead of going on a vacation every six months they have to go once a year. But those who are living middle class lives or less are trying to determine what day of the week can they buy meat for their families to eat. And as far as taking care of the sick, what is wrong with that? Not everyone has been irresponsible with their health, some people can not help their circumstances and as a Christian it is taught to take care of those who can not take care of themselves. President Obama is very intelligent he knows what he is doing. The taxes and debt issues that the republicans have altered always to benefit them is over. Obama understands the corruption of secular law and is doing what he can to implement Christian law. Thank you PRESIDENT Obama.

Class act on the part of Obama. Now it's time to put the brass knuckles on and come out swinging. Romney has a big chin, but I'm betting it's made of glass.

@Dam, see that is the problem with you republicans, no matter what President Obama does you are against it. You are just like your flip-flopping, etch-a-sketch candidate. And like you said the only concern your party has had since Obama was elected president was to make sure he is a one termer for only one reason, the color of his skin. You and the rest of your crew might as well get ready for the real ride. President Obama is going to make a mockery out of Romney and I can not wait. You know that Romney can't think for himself, I guess Rush, Fox news, the Donald and the rest of the idiots will make sure that he gets the girly question so that he can answer them. I have never seen a candidate who will not talk to any other news media except Fox News who are the biggest liars of them all. What is he afraid of? Oh I know, they will bring up mormonism, his business credentials and his overseas bank accounts, his tax returns from the last ten years.
