House rejects abortion ban based on sex of fetus

Washington (CNN) – Congress took up one of the most divisive issues in politics Thursday as the House of Representatives rejected a controversial measure banning abortions based on the sex of a fetus.

In the House, 246 representatives backed the bill while 168 voted against it, leaving the proposal short of the two-thirds total necessary for passage. Most Republicans supported the measure; the majority of Democrats opposed it.

Demoncrats dont care about anything except how things look to the people they are trying to cuddle up to. This is not a womens health issue, this is optional genocide based on the sex of a child. How could anyone in their right mind oppose this bill?!?!

Lady Fair – Really? The House needs to focus on the economy, and not undermining the law of the land.

Looks like you swallow without chewing every stupid, cynical, symbolic, and substanceless political maneuver the GOP/Teatrolls have come up with for the past 4 years to waste Congressional time and resources on do everything and anything but focus on the economy and jobs.

Here is an idea house. Compromise on a debt deal. Rather than have the date as a trigger for budget cut and roll back of Bush tax cuts, use economic measures as triggers. Perhaps when GDP is expanding at 3% and Unemployment hits 5-6% we implement the suggested budget cuts in spending and also roll back tax cuts for top earners. It's call compromise. Get it done!

Quit wasting time(& Money) on issues that will never be agreed on.

There's nothing to back up these claims the GOP/Teatrolls are making, but that doesn't matter because the MSM will repeat them and broadcast them to the four corners of the nation without ever critically analyzing whether there is any facutal basis or susbtance to the claims. The GOP is having a giant problem with having alienated female voters beacuse of their attempts to control women's reproductive choices and attenuate their reproductive freedom and this is a giant, horribly cynical Weapon of Mass Deception intended to give them a a very VERY think justification for claimin that the Dems are the ones waging a war on women...unborn baby women to be exact. It's so Orwellian and farsical that we might as well have all just stepped through the looking glass.

Thats the GOP for you- trying to pass laws for problems that don't exist. They LOVE life- just not for the poor, sick, or elderly.

Trent Franks said "...maybe its time to board (Congress up) and go home......."
Exactly, if you can't do your job, which you obviously can't, then refund our money and go home.
You people spend more time at "home" than you do in session, and that is one of the problems.
Quit tap dancing around the big issues, live up to your agreements, and get America back to work.
You are working on an unintended welfare package of your own, and I'm sick of it.

The senate is obviously far worse than Congress is. The senate will probably table 100 bills by election time. There's alread well over 3 dozen bills Reid won't even discuss. Reid is holding true to his word and DOAing bill even before Congress finishes them.

It would be wonderful if the radical Tea Party Republicans in the House would spend 1/10th the time on our nation's actual problems as they do trying to back-door our laws. How about an actual jobs bill? How about a defense bill that isn't filled with right-wing pork? No more mindless pledges – it's time to actually think and do your jobs!

Name a single instance of someone forcing an abortion on another. It just doesn't happen in this country.

Truth and facts doesn't matter to you anymore. Let's not forget that Republicans wrote it, and a Republican Speaker brought it to the House floor for a vote.
