Axelrod launches attack on Romney's home turf

(CNN) – The Obama re-election team launched an all-out offense against Mitt Romney's record while governor of Massachusetts on Thursday with his top strategist arguing the "failed" policies supported by Romney as governor mirror those he now espouses.

On the steps of the Massachusetts State House, David Axelrod compared the promises Romney makes on the trail to those he delivered to Massachusetts voters, policies that he said led, among other things, to an increase in taxes and debt, a drop in job creation and cuts to education.

Obama to hit the road, pressing for jobs and raising more money

(CNN) - President Barack Obama will focus on jobs Friday, continuing to press Congress on his so-called "to do" list. Friday’s item: pushing for the establishment of a Veterans Job Corps. At a Honeywell International plant in a Minneapolis suburb, he will make his case that the country needs to "honor our commitment to returning veterans," according to a White House release.

Friday’s event coincides with the release of the May unemployment numbers. Economists will be closely watching the jobs numbers after two months of slowdown in the sputtering U.S. economy.

Gingrich down on super PACs despite his own

(CNN) – Former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich on Thursday lamented the use of super PACs in modern campaigning, predicting a "mess" they will create in the fall campaign.

"I think you watch this fall, between the Obama super PACs, the Romney super PACs, the conservative super PACs, the liberal super PACs, it's going to be a mess and people are going to be sick of it," Gingrich said on MSNBC. "It's really unfortunate. It's not the way a great nation should govern itself."
