Under GOP attack, Obama talks jobs and raises money

(CNN) - President Barack Obama hit the road for campaigning and fundraisers Friday, arguably the worst day so far in his re-election bid due to a disappointing employment report that brought sharp Republican attacks led by certain GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

Speaking late in the day at a Chicago fundraiser, the president said voters will have a clear choice this November.

Today you guys are not convincing anyone with your trashing, anger of Romney. Today's numbers speak for themselves and that is what the public is hearing, reading and feeling if they are one of the ones on that list of the unemployed. I think by now everyone has caught on that you guys are just mad at Romney for what he has accomplished and is able to do for our country.

Remember when the right wingnuts cheered when Chicago lost the bid for the Olympics? Remember the republicans euphoria when gas prices almost reached the prices during the summer of 2008? Things that make the GOP happy are high unemployment, cutting women's access to health care, eliminating food stamps for children, raising the interest rate on college loans, deregulation of consumer safeties and attacks on minorities.. Yes, quite a record to be proud of if you are Taliban.

Actually, the economy has improved with no help from the elected right wingnuts. 4.3 million private sector jobs created under Obama is a hell of a lot better than the loss of 8 million jobs in Bush's last three years. All you have to do to find that out is turn off Fox foreign owned media, and the truth will set you free."

Is that why the "if you give me enough money the unemployment rate will not go above 8%' statement, has become "it never got DOWN to 8%, and if you include those who have stopped looking for work it is above 14%"?

Speaking of turning off. When did you turn off your brain and stop looking for truth as opposed to "blame anyone but the ones in charge".

@OMG – As soon as you refer to the President of the United States as "Hussein", you show your true colors. Please crawl back under your rock.

All of you who are cheering the bad news might want to consider that when you look at many of the statistics, the recovery stalled out right after we elected the 2010 do nothing "jobs, jobs, jobs" congress. Please tell me what congress has done to help the recovery.

In a visit to a Honeywell International plant in suburban Minneapolis, Obama announced new efforts to help war veterans find work back home using the skills they learned in the military.

The United States Postal Service is the single largest employer of America's veterans. Too bad that the Republicans are trying to dismantle the USPS.

Remember when the right wingnuts cheered when Chicago lost the bid for the Olympics?
–No, but you seem to. Just who was it that cheered? Chicago residents maybe?

Remember the republicans euphoria when gas prices almost reached the prices during the summer of 2008?
–No. But you seem to. Are those the procs that have doubled since 2008. The prices that continue to go up while Obama prevents drilling and even a pipeline?

Things that make the GOP happy are high unemployment,
    –Reference please.

cutting women's access to health care,
    –Which is not happening

    eliminating food stamps for children,
–I work for a state welfare department. It's not happening.

raising the interest rate on college loans,
–You mean to still less than they would have to pay on the open market? You mean that if they take the loans that they should not pay them back.?

    deregulation of consumer safeties
    –which is not happenin

    and attacks on minorities..
    –Really? Which ones is that?

Yes, quite a record to be proud of if you are Taliban.
I believe that it is the Taliban that force people to think as they do, regardless of obvious false facts.

  9. The REAL TRUTH...

@David –Happily those who actually know economics know that it was just more smoke. You could raise the taxes on the rich by any amount you want and it would not make a difference. The very rich already pay most of the taxes while the bottom 50% pay none.–
    -----------------------------
If you did a little research you would have learnt that historically, the GDP, job growth and ALL economic indicators have been SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER when tax rates were higher. And, oh BTW, those also (just) happened to bu under Dem controlled Congress'es.

And now the "bottom 50% pay none"... must have gone up some in the last few weeks as IIRC that number was fixed at 47% – and like most stats were made to suit the audience. If you are on welfare, or don't make enough to pay taxes, or have no income because you are uneployed, or have another reason NOT to pay Fed taxes... those categories were included in that number to allow the GOP to inflame the faithful and denigrate Obama.

Voters need to wise up to the fact that the President's ability to address these problems is hampered by a Congress that blocks every proposal that they think could possibly succeed. It's great to vote for the President that you want but when you sit out the next election and the President gets stuck with an obstructionist Congress, he's left with very few options. At some point, voters must take responsibility for THEIR failure to educate themselves on the issues, the way government works, and their responsibility to vote."

Who was it that had absolute control of the goverment for 2 years before 2010 and did nothing?

I don't care if only one job was created, that would still be on the plus side. Unlike shrubs last few months where all the jobs were losses. Including mine. It's really sad when people get giddy due to others misfortune.

Presidents do not create jobs. None of them ever have. Period.

Who does? Your Congressional leaders in Washington D.C. do.
Who does? The Governor in the state you live in.
Who does? Your Local Government consisting of your County, Parish, City, etc.

Don't be fooled into believing that all of the problems with this country is because of our Federal System. Our Local and State government officials are constantly raising taxes and raising fees on state or county government items like Driver's or Marriage Licenses, Property Taxes just to name a few. And your state government loves to give the Insurance Companies authorization to raise your Insurance Premiums on your Car and House. None of them are doing what is necessary for people like you and me to envision the Pursuit To Happiness. It's all about blaming someone else. In the meantime, there are people in the USA who are really hurting.

Hey Republicans--Keep up the good work of sinking America. Keep blocking those jobs. Keep bringing down her credit rating. Keep on not giving her new revenue. Great Job. We can all see what you are doing.

  16. the Situation

Where is all the jobs the GOP promise when they won congress? No meaningful bill to help the middle class since they were voted back in to office. Alot of talk, empty promises.

Mitts, he is just a fool. Running on his business experience. Same way he fool the people of Massachusetts that he could create jobs and the state went from 36 to 47 in job creation from the time he took office to when he left office. Maybe that why he was polling about mid to high 30's when his term was up and never seek re-election. Santroum was right, at least he faced the voters and got booted out, Romney was afraid that the people would reject him like they did in 1994 and ran away!

    ------------–
The Romney/Ryan Plan would add an extra $5 trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years, and that is assuming that unemployment hits the projected low of 5% or better. If unemployment stays well above 5%, which it will because there is no profit in it for the 1%, raise the $5 trillion to $10 trillion. Furthermore, the Romney/Ryan Plan makes no secret about the fact that they do not plan to balance the budget--which woule reduce the national debt-for another four or five decades. Four or Five Decades. The first decade alone is likely to add an extra $10 trillion just from the tax cuts. In 4 or 5 decades, the national debt will over $100 trillion at the Romney Rate.

    Humm,
2010 was the Summer of Recovery? 2011 was the Summer of Recovery. 2012??? The weekly jobs report 1 June 2012 is slightly worse. Next Week ?? The Liberals and mostly Democrats have been promising the people the moon for the last 75 years. Even Omama bought it. Now to the tune of 16 Trillion in debt some of you are still buying it. Obama, for better or worse, isn't helping much. He is up against 75 Years of liberal/democrat screwups. For 40 years the democrats had the Congress. Any more questions???

  21. The REAL TRUTH...

@Ray E. (Georgia) – Now to the tune of 16 Trillion in debt some of you are still buying it. Obama, for better or worse, isn't helping much. He is up against 75 Years of liberal/democrat screwups. For 40 years the democrats had the Congress. Any more questions???
    -------------------
Questions.... Ray, you appear to have subscribed to the amnesiac revisionist Grand Obstructionisst Party version of history. You know, the one devoid of FACTS and TRUTH that show how it REALLY IS/WAS !!
    – FACT: The $16T debt is not quite that high, it's $15 point something.
    – FACT: it's was almost $11T when Obama took office.
    – FACT: Of the $5T added since then , $3+ TRILLION were added to OFFSET the funding/cost of the TWO ILLEGAL wars that Dubya started.
    – FACT: Obama's deficit percentages ahve been LOWER than previous admins, and his HIGHEST was $900B, some 35% lower than the $1.47 TRILLION than Dubya exited with.
    – FACT: There hasn't been 40 years of Dem controlled Congress. GIOP had FULL control of BOTH houses from 1995 -> 2007 (12 yrs). Dems had control from 87->94 (7 yrs), and it was split from 81 to 87 (6 yrs). So the last 25 yrs has had MORe GOP control than Dem.
    – FACT: The Grand Obstructionist Party since Reagan has increased Federal Taxes and the size of Govt FAR more than the Dems.
    – FACT: I DON'T subscribe to EITHER party, I jsut get UPSET when folks spout without checking the FACTS!!
    – FACT: and educated voter is the BEST voter..
