GOP's 'Young Guns' say they want to work with Democrats in House

Washington (CNN) - What a difference two years make. Instead of a band of rabble-rousing conservatives, a markedly different group was plotting campaign strategy with House Republican leaders at a recent party headquarters meeting.

Gone is the tea party-infused talk of confrontation. This diverse group - top-tier candidates picked to be in the GOP's "Young Guns" program - includes an openly gay former Massachusetts state legislator, an African-American female mayor from Utah and an Indian-American Ivy league graduate from California. Unlike the take-no-prisoners approach of two years ago, these candidates stressed the need to work with Democrats to get things done in Washington.

  2. Obama 2012 - BEND Forward America, take another 4 long years of FAILURE

So just who do they expect to work with? What Democrats can be classified as non-socialist/progressive/communist??? VERY FEW. The Blue Dog Democrats have all been run out of town by the "progressive"/socialists/communists or lost in their elections or just retired because the Democrat Party hated them because of their conservative views on some issues.

Yeah, sure. They must have looked at their approval ratings.

Only because they know they are in trouble when their re-elections come up. It surely is what they need to do, but I feel it is only to save themselves.

Nope. I will only believe it when I see them working with President Obama.
Young Guns....really. They could've named them something less ominous. As it is their name combined with their "sponsors", Hailey, Ryan eta al, put me in the mind of young and eager goose-steppers raedy to do the bidding of the current so-called GOP leadership. Scary thought.
And yes, after three and a half years of Rethuglikkklan bait-and-switch you're darn tootin' I'm leary of anything GOP professing to be willing to compromise.
    Been there. Heard that.
    Obama 2012. Seriously America.

IF They want a fascist rule in this country where the republican corporations rule, vote them out.

Wait until the thugs from the republican / TP get through with them. Just wait. Meanwhile, the country will continue to suffer until THEY get their way. You better wake up people and get this TP trash OUT of Washington – once and for all.

    The Proof will be in the results; I Got a feeling there will be very little progress made because of the prevailing attitudes of the Repubilician party .... Their single minded determination not to cooperate OR work with the Democrats in any appreciable manner. Some Republicians have taken an "OATH" to end the Obama Presidency "AT ALL COSTS";
The level of non cooperation is just that serious.

No, they don't. That is just sugar coated, sweet talk for "no compromise". Don't forget, folks. They have sworn and signed onto an allegiance to a private individual to never raise taxes. Publicly, they have sworn to do everything within their power to unseat Pres. Obama. Finally, they are Republicans, which means they never go back on their own words.

The reason they are saying this is because they are on the way out in 2012 ! no deal they blocked every jobs bill that Obama try to pass,

I guess that 11% approval rating got to them, or by chance it being an election year finally opened their eyes. Vote these jokers out led by Allen West.

If the GOP turned on Jon Huntsman for working for President Obama and taking a moderate position they will turn on the "Young gun". The Republican party is not tolerant of those that are not just like them.

They don't, and it's too big a risk to give them the opportunity.

It is about time. Congress is about compromise and talking to the other members of the House and Senate. That makes getting the business for the people done faster.

Yep – they're shaking in their boots now. A gay, an African American (not an Uncle Tom like Cain) and an Indian American... all to make themselves look more diverse and more human. It's NOT working – two years too late!

    OBAMA 2012!

What took them so long? And are they really GOP ers? They may find themselves voted out for trying to do the right thing. I still say vote each and every one of them OUT.

    OBAMA 2012!

The last group ran on jobs jobs jobs. They then gave us anti-abortion (zillions of bills) and named one post office.

Don't give any more of them another chance to bring this nation to it's knees. THEY LIE.

This group believes they're going to retake the WH & Senate in November (actually they believe they're ENTITLED), so they're making this claim now. If they DO somehow manage to win they can claim they were working with the dems all along, and that the dems are the party of "no". While that may work with the standard low-information rightwing supporter (some long ago dictator used to call such individuals "useful idiots"), Americans with more than two working brain cells are well aware of this and are laughing at them.

It would be wonderful if it's true and not just posturing. It would be nice to have a Congress that is interested in doing the People's business instead of just opposing the current President.

Were these what you call "GOP young guns" sleeping since 2010 up to now and just wake up???? Why did they waste peoples time and did nothing?? It is all about games and no one should take them seriously.

Great – leyt's dosomething bold like put the Simpson-Bowles recommendation on the table. Let's see where the GOP and Mitt Romney comes down on that. Either it is a good idea of President Obama's or they fight it like they have done everythin else. Let's get them on the record now.

Rudy I think you meant: "They never go back on their pledges to each other".
Republicans are renowned liars, and everyone knows that their "word" isn't worth the spit involved to utter it.

The fact that they are Gay, African American, and Native American means diddly to me.
I've seen other Gays and African-Americans within the GOP that have made me want to gag, and die of embarrassment for them. So keep the "tokens", I don't believe you.
