Seven things you should know about Solyndra

New York (CNNMoney) - No mater how hard President Obama may try, the Solyndra debacle - and its $529 million taxpayer-backed price tag - just won't go away.

Just last Week Mitt Romney criticized Obama's economic acumen while standing in front of the company's now-closed headquarters in Fremont, Calif.

What did the company in was the failure to properly have researched and financially analyzed China's products and its prices, its impact on the US market and stuck to Bush's decision not to loan money to Solyndra. Also, let's not forget George Kaiser's Foundation was one of the owner's of Solyndra and George Kaiser was involved in the 2008 Obama campaign. And be it a grant or loan it doesn't change the fact that money went out and money did not come back. Key point: the Bush administration never approved the loan to Solyndra.

We know a few things. Obama likes to play venture capitalist with tax payer money and he sucks at it. If you want to invest in this do it with you own money not ours. This is why we are so sick of government overreach. There talking points came directly from the White House Press office starting with the lie that Bush started this loan- they killed it. Obama revived the loan because the lead guy was an Obama bundler. Talk about lacking ethics.

  3. The REAL Truth...

Sure it won't go away.. more GOBP ammunition in an election year. Never mind that the loan was initiated/requested under the Dubya regime and completed/finalized under Obama. It's amazing what the Grand Obstructionist Party is trying to hang on Obama, even tho' 90% of their issues are a direct result of MANY years of failed policies that they're trying to hang on him. Of course, it's an election year, and the Teapugnants sole goal is to ensure Obama is a one term President. Yet Mittens continues to hit him on his jobs record. Nice, given the 4+million jobs created since taking office in 09, coming from a guy whose job creation record (Bain) is suspect at best – and been revised down many times – to be 47 in the nation for job creation while Gov of MA. Big whoop! A Robmey presidency would be disastrous for this country.

    Yeah that was Bushs fault!
So we need only look at the ones Obama approve. Who owned them and who were the primary inverstors put ahead of the taxpayer loans?? Seems like a simple question to even me..., Steve??

I'd like to know how many people and which people made money on Soyndra's failure. I don't think it was as bad as Romney thinks. What it shows is that Romney doesn't really look into things.

Romney blatantly lied again about a non-existent inspector general report.

Romney also showed his hypocrisy again using Rove's desperate projection tactics. Americans should know that Romney did the same kind of cronyism he falsely accuses others of while he was governor of MA. Shame.

The loan was approved by Obama, Bush did not approve the loan.

  14. Obama 2012 - BEND Forward America, take another 4 long years of FAILURE

Almost TWO THIRDS of the companies getting tax payer money from the Obama Adminstration have direct ties to Obama campaign fund raisers. That is the definition of CORRUPTION.

@S.B. Stein E.B. NJ "I'd like to know how many people and which people made money on Soyndra's failure. I don't think it was as bad as Romney thinks. What it shows is that Romney doesn't really look into things."

And the taxpayers lost $529 million. I don't know about your definition of bad, but that certainly fits the definition of bad for me. The problem was that money kept pouring into this company even though they knew it was a bad investment. It does beg the question as to why. And Obama hasn't been man enough to admit the mistake. If he were a CEO of a company, he'd be fired.

If only those who post comments used facts, truth and commen sense. With the level of BS displayed in most blogs, I have nothing but fear in our country getting out of this quagmire.
Stop the bickering, find common ground and lets all move together. We are Americans. Lets show the world the best we have to offer, not the worst. Lets help each other, talk to each other, leave the hatred out of the blogs. Stop blaming everyone. Be prepared to accept mistakes made but use them to move on.
    America First.

What is so amazing about the entire conservative bashing of Solyndra and green energy as a whole, is that it was a central part of the McCain/Palin platform in 2008. I guess they must figure it is a losing strategy, because they have thrown green energy and alternative fuels under the bus.

Hold up people, don't get your panties in a knot. What is going to blow your mind is finding out how much be my friend money was given for personal use to the former President of Iraq and to the President of Pakistan, all by Bush. Soylndra was a company operating on U.S. soil and it's bad they failed, but the money is a drop in the bucket compared to what Iraq and Pakistan Presidents were just gifted by Bush.
