Obama denies claims White House is involved in leaks

(CNN) - President Barack Obama strongly rejected claims Friday that his White House has deliberately leaked state secrets to the media, saying the idea was "offensive" and would put Americans at risk.

Some Republicans, led by veteran Sen. John McCain of Arizona, alleged that the White House must be knowingly involved because of the nature of the leaked information.

Not the non-Congress person's idea, unless citizens are to blame.

Every time Congress demands these hearings about things as this, they end up releasing more classified information than was found in the entirety of the Pentagon Papers.

Oh, you mean like Cheney and Rove when they released the name of Valerie Plame to get even with her husband for doubting claims on Iraq having WMDs? where was the outrage and calls for justice from the republicans then?

If you want to find the leaks...

Then start with the members of Congress...all they have to do to read Top Secret information, is sign a piece of paper saying they will not talk about it...the rest of the people that read that information have a full background check and long interviews...and more...Start with the people that do not know what it takes to gain the trust of this country..that have never served in our military..or worked for DOD, or the other government branches..start with the politicians...
People who have made a profession, a career, and lots of money, from talking....and plotting..

This is suddenly very reminisent of when the Republicans in Congress accused Clinton of selling China secrets out of his file cabinet in the Oval Office. It's interesting to see they still have that lie in their playbook!

the only reason Mcain makes thes statements is to keep his pathetic image of a warrior alive. McCain doesn't bring anything new to the table and lives on a suspect reputation. It's time for people to get some new blood and sensible ideas into our government and get people like McCain out. I had hoped when he lost the presidentialrace he would just go quietly away. Guess he's not that smart!

Come on CNN, is Obama going to admit leaks are coming from his administation? We all know that is what is happening but Obama is never wrong in anything. I do not trust Obama and his administration and that includes his AG Holder.

Maybe Obama needs to check some of these leaks out himself because he doesn't know what he is talking about, nothing new there. Some of this information is coming from NAMED SOURCES in the Whitehouse!!! He might start with National Security Advisor Tom Donilon for one. This guy has been talking so much that there is a report that former Secr. of Defense was so outraged by the stuff he was saying that he personally visited and offered him some strategic advice: "Shut the *&^%$ up!"

And then there was disclosure of details of the Bin Laden raid to Hollywood film makers ONE WEEK after it had happpened and one of the Seal leaders names was disclosed.

It is VERY clear where all this is coming from, the incompetent, and now DANGEROUS, Obama administration.

Rove and Cheney purposely leaked out Plame's name. PURPOSELY. With malice and forethought. Why haven't they been arrested, tried and sentenced to 20 years in Leavenworth?

Baseless accuations are reckless accusations. Most especially when the accuser is alledging that the POTUS has compromised national security. Do you think it has anything to do with it being an election year?

"Obama also repeated the statements made by the writers of the articles in question that the White House was not the source of their information."

I would not at all be surprised to learn that House Republicans on committees that oversee intelligence operations are behind the leaks.

What should we expect. The career politicians, political hacks, academics and radicals that are employed in the White House have no clue how to govern, manage an economy or run the military. The sad part is – after their defeat in November – they will all go back to indoctrinating our kids at our universities. Notice all that have left the administration – right back to teaching college where they can have any opinion they want and never be held accountable for their actions. Thanks to this Administration, we now look at the so-called "experts" from academia with a bit more skepticism – as we should have always done – no more in awe of their sel-perceived brilliance..

Well, John McCain is demanding that an outside source/agency be hired to investigate "who" exactly is providing the leaked information. If Obama has nothing to hide.....Then I am quite sure that he will have no problem with the investigation. Oh by the way libbies....It is not just Republicans making the accusations against Obama!! McCain is right-begin the investigation NOW!!
