New York (CNNMoney) – Citing economic headwinds from Europe, President Obama asked lawmakers on Friday to revive a set of long ago-discarded legislative proposals designed to stimulate the economy.
The initiatives, first proposed in September, include investments in infrastructure, tax breaks for small businesses and funding for teachers, firefighters and other public sector workers.

Mr President they are already doing something. With the debt ceiling and jobs and women's rights and so many other issues (wont say JOBS because the tea tards just ran on JOBS they havent done a darn thing!) on the table they are taking the next two seeks OFF. The teapublikkkans in the house have made their own rules on when to work while so many Americans don't have jobs and the rest of us pray every day that we keep ours.
Then they are coming back for one week and OFF again for two. I don't know about the rest of you but insouldmlove a job like that.
House Republicans have already announced that they are done legislating for the entire year. Instead, they want to sit back and accuse the President of not getting anything done. "Where is Pres. Obama's jobs bill?" That's what they want to say.
Also, where are the jobs bills that House Republicans ran on in 2010. So far, they have passed 30 "Jobs bills", ranging from defunding Planned Parenthood, war on light bulbs, endorsing "In God We Trust", and a host of others that all include amendments to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
We changed the direction of this country to something good when we voted Obama in LEGALLY. It was Bush's illegal regime that put us in this mess. We've got to keep this country out of the destructive GOP clutches. We'd never survive another disaster like Bush.

order to blame the President so that they can get votes in an election year, here is a little secret President Obama is not
stupid, when the time is right He is going to set the jobs free from the hostage takers and then mr 47th rank governor will

I'm sorry......But remember 3-1/2 years ago--the "stimulous" was supposed to be used to create thousands of "shovel ready" jobs to fix the infrastructure-what happened to all of the money Obama?? US citizens/voters/workers just need to hold on for 5 more months-until Obama is forced out of the White House and sent back to Chicago.

I don't know what else Congress can do. The House Repealed Obama Care but the Senate refuses to take up the Budget for 3 years now. Employers are scared of what is to come. People can't spend with no money to spend because they don't have a job. Obama is like a broken record. We need a new record. It will happen in November.

Boehner has given the House another week off. This is nine weeks out of this year the do- nothings have been
on vacation. Once again, they are 'packing their bags" to go home and play.
They are leaving the transportataion bill unsolved and the student loan bill unsolved. These last-minute
obstructionists think they can bully themselves back into office. Hope they are wrong. Enough is enough.

Actually it is the Republicans in Congress who should be worried about running on their record. Since Pres. Obama took office they have said they hope he (and therefore the country) fails, caused more fillibustres than any other Congress, obstructed more bills and actually kept the country from moving forward more quickly. Last summer's embarrassing debt ceiling debate and down grading of the credit rating was their fault and the whole world knows it. Actually since they took over the Congress in 2010 promising jobs, jobs, jobs hardly anything has been done and they have really obstructed growth with their gridlock. It is austerity measures in Europe that has caused many countries to go backwards and that is what the Republicans keep crying must be done. It is austerity measures in many states that have laid off teachers, policemen, firemen, etc. and this adds to the unemployment rate. Aren't any Republicans in these professions? If a few Republicans finally start wanting to do something now to try and make themselves look useful before the election, hopefully the media will honestly call them out on it. It is a little too late. It would be great to gave a daily show dealing just with fact checking and "keeping them honest". That will probably not happen though.

Everyone blames everyone else. With all the liberals disillusioned with his broken promises out there, I actually read an editorial blaming liberal voters who were questioning Obama's approach. OK – the only group left to blame is people happy with Obama. That's probably next. So it seems like every man woman and child in the country is to blame except Obama. Doesn't the executive leader take some responsibility at some point?

Do a search for the interview/video on Youtube. I do not remember who/what station did the interview.....But, Romney needs to use that clip in attack ads in all states until the election!! Only 5 more months, and "real" hope and change will be coming to Washington/the White House!!
