(CNN) – President Barack Obama plans to deliver a statement about the economy at 10:15 a.m. Friday, the White House said in a statement.
The president will talk about "the situation in Europe, which continues to pose headwinds to our recovery here at home," the statement said.

We have probably heard this all before. I guess he will be blaming Europe now. Congress wants to extend all tax breaks for at least another year I say for 10 years. Maybe after November.

I smell a tactic here. Remember the '08 lame-duck session of congress? The Bush tax cuts were set to expire in days. The then-democrat house passed an extension of those cuts for 98% of us, but not the wealthiest 2%. The republicans in the senate filibustered and defeated the bill. Then Obama proposed an extension that included the wealthiest. The GOP gave him the extension, the payroll tax cut, an extension on jobless benefits and the repeal of DADT in the military. Lesson-the GOP will give anything to protect those tax cuts for the rich.
After the election there will be another lame-duck session with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts on the horizon. Obama is already saying he wants the cuts to expire. This puts a ton of pressure on the republicans. I think Obama is laying the groundwork for the next lame-duck session.
Will we hear the old "Hope & Change" speech again? Or, it's Bush's fault? Or, Joe Biden will fix it when he wins in 2016. Or, If you give me 4 more years I can create more shovel ready jobs. Or, those millionaires are not paying enough taxes, so it prevents the government from controlling more of your life. Or, if you close your eyes, click your heels three times, and say "theres no place like Cuba, theres no place like Cuba, theres no place like Cuba", and magically America will be just like Cuba.
