Santorum details 'dual mission'

Rosemont, Illinois (CNN) – As Rick Santorum praised Mitt Romney and pledged to help elect him, the former Pennsylvania senator also said on Friday that part of his "mission" is to keep Romney's feet to the fire on conservative issues.

Santorum's comments happened during an interview with 89 WLS radio Chicago. Santorum was attending the Conservative Political Action Conference in Rosemont, Illinois.

During the interview, Santorum discussed his new political committee – a non profit designed to advance conservative issues and defeat President Obama.

"And you're going to be a forceful advocate for Romney on the trail?" interviewer Dan Proft asked Santorum.

"I have been and will be," Santorum said.

Co-interviewer Bruce Wolf interjected: "But you kind of have to keep Gov. Romney's feet to the fire. Because you know that the tendency will be to Etch-a-Sketch the whole thing."??

To that, Santorum answered: "To me, it's a dual mission. But that's not necessarily targeted at Gov. Romney, it's targeted at everybody – it's targeted at every senator and every House member."

"We need to make sure that the things they say on the campaign trail are the things they do when they get elected."

Did he not get the message..."Go Away, Loser"...???? We all knew he was dim now he is just chasing the buck and dividing a great party and advocating a Radical Religious Right Wing to follow him as Sheeple of the new "Pied Piper...He is pathetic. Just Go Away and join a convent or a monastery, don the robe and procreate no more.

maybe if Rick backs "pretty boy" he can have a free ride in one of the many Cadilacs the Romneys own. I am offended by Mrs. Romneys statement that we have a CHOICE, either be a stay at home mom or have a career, most of us have no CHOICE. We HAVE to work to keep our family afloat. She CHOSE to stay home and raise her large family because a senators pay allowed her to do so.

We will make the best of the situation with Mr. Romney...most likely a landslide victory over Mr. Obama in November. With Mr. Santorum's help, hopefully we can rectify the damage done by this President's policies, so that America can return to the level of greatness, beoming yet again "a Shining City on a Hill". God bless Mitt Romney and God bless the United States of America

Rick Santorum, PLEASE go back to bed!!! You are almost as big a hypocrite as Mr. Obama. Though I am a life-long Democrat, I truly believe you don't want to help the Republican party; just yourself! Do you realize that you are essentially practicing Mr. Obama's philosophy?!

PLEASE don't do your party any favors! Please fade out!!!

What a farce politics is and politicians are. This guy hated Romney during his try at getting the Repub. nomination. He's now "praising" him?!! I wonder how much he got paid to do that?

Excuse me everyone while i go to the restroom to vomit. Im so sick and tired of hearing these fools berate the president. They can not win in November. They have said since day one thier goal was to make Obama a one term president. They have even said they want him to fail on tv!! They have done EVERYTHING possible to bring down Obama. Purposly not cooperating with Obama so he would fail. These are not your average Repulicans of yesteryear they are crazy litterally. If they win in November then they have accomplished what they intended to do since Jan 09, bring down Obama. It cant happen. I proudly support president Obama, i always have. Obama 2012 Four More Years!!

That's right – keep 'em to the far right and don't allow any transition
While you're out there backing R-Money with all of his LIES and policies that are "far-fetched"
When he mentions something "different" keep his "feet to the fire" – Don't allow him to use his Etch-A-Sketch

Santorum – along with ginGRINCH will "silently" destroy Romney's bout!!
