(CNN) – Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who ran as a tea party favorite in her Republican presidential bid this cycle, posed outside her House office Monday with a flag widely known as a symbol for the tea party movement.
The flag stands in the spot traditionally reserved for state and U.S. flags.

"I'm pleased to have Gadsden Flag outside my office. I remain committed to reducing size/scope of federal gov," she tweeted, along with the photo.
Also Monday, a fair number of tea party activists from across the country–in town for a conference hosted by the conservative grassroots group FreedomWorks–headed to the Hill to meet with lawmakers.

She doesn't realize the needs that the federal government provides as does most of the tea-publicans. I would be more for cutting the federal programs that cover social welfare if these people would develop charities to pick up the slack. There are wealthy people out there that can cover the bill I would think. Why aren't they doing it that is what I would like to know.
Some would call this treason! But since it isn't a democrat I guess that makes it OK.
Just looking for her 15 minutes, again.
Chris - If this was a Democrat doing the same thing, all the right wingers would be screaming that she doesn't respect the flag and hates America.

What are you talking about? Did you even look at the picture? Bachmann isn't doing anything to the American flag. It is usually the leftists that are burning it in the streets and desecrating it.
Right, because your political affiliation means more than your country
So it's true they intend to separate from the union.........................good get lost.
She's a phony. How did this nut end up on the Intelligence Committee? Anyone pledging allegiance to Grover Norquist or to any other flag and not the stars and stripes is a traitor!!!
She's a witch!! Burn her!
why does bachman merit any special attention? she certainly didnt shine a a candidate. she showed a serious lack of understanding of issues and strategy in her campaigning. she is the kim kardaschian of politics.

She can start by taking a part time wage for her part time commitment to her job, while she seeks fame and fortune at the taxpayers expense.
I think we just found out where the recent security leaks have come from – Ms. T-Bagger was warned about running her mouth by her GOP bosses – now she refuses to even fly the American flag in her office!
Lorelord... what a genius you are. Of course the flag has been around since the revolution. Apparently your reading comprehension is lacking as it clearly states, "...flag widely known as a symbol for the tea party. See, something old can become a symbol for something else.
It is a fitting symbol though as it perfectly matches the tea party's obsession with their own selves.
Coincidence? Usually a term reserved for something nearly scandalous if it's more than a coincidence. Even if she timed it on purpose, it's hardly worth noting. Is CNN wishing for a story here?
Where's the coincidence here? Looks to me like she intentionally posed in front of the Gadsden flag intentionally placed outside her office.
As for the flag itself, historically it is a U.S. flag. It flew over our forces during the Revolutionary War and was a symbol of resistance against the British. The coiled rattle snake (with 13 rings on the rattle) emblazoned Marine Corps drums. And the first U.S. Navy jack consisted of 13 red and white stripes with a rattle snake across the top of them and the word "DON'T TREAD ON ME" emblazoned beneath the snake. The jack still flies from the bow of every U.S. navy ship when in port.
Can't polish a turd!
@ Chris:
Yup.
My god! She still looks as insane as she did before.
Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Rick Perry and co. are sad proof as to how backward much of this country truly remains in 2012.
I'm glad she's committed - just wish it was to an insane assylum.
What a nutjob. Communism anyone? Where republicans are the ONLY party?
When I see people, many calling themselves "Conservatives", come out in either support or defense of this pathetic excuse for a human being, much less a candidate for any public office, it makes me cry for the state of our country. I'm sorry but if anyone, no matter their political bent, can say they would support this dolt as an elected official, they can't possibly be playing with a full deck and should not even be part of the discussion. Much less be part of electing people in this country. So sad.
I'd have thought that this idiot would have gotten the message, and become scarce. Can't say she's not overbearing, cause she is.
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who chanted "Bring on the American default"
Move the old bag to Switzerland.
MICHELLE......YOU ARE EITHER AN AMERICAN OR YOU AREN'T!!!!!!What is coincidental about this?.....she has made many remarks that border.... such as wanting Congress to be investigated as un American....she is just plain "dinghy" Unfortunately...... she is surrounded in her party with an assortment of sound-alikes!!!!
