KPTM: Romney staff disrespectful to hosts, cafe owner said

(CNN) - The owner of an Iowa cafe which Mitt Romney visited on Friday say the Republican presidential candidate's staff were "arrogant" and disrespectful to her establishment, CNN affiliate KPTM reported.

Romney called owner Dianne Bauer of the Council Bluffs Main Street Cafe to offer an apology, the report said.

A Romney campaign source told CNN they had "assured the Bauers that the campaign would take responsibility for any remaining issues."

I see no reason for Romney to offer an apology,he has made it very clear that he has nothing to offer the middle class and if you are not a corporation or a very wealthy person he has made it clear that you are not going to be treated well by him or his staff.Romney has been upfront that he will treat the middle claas like second class so I can't imagine anyone expecting anything but disrespect from Team Romney.

Really? CNN is reporting on this? Give me a break – this is such a lame story. Who cares. I love how all the hippies on these comment pages go nuts about it though... crazy hippies.

apparently they don't make enough money to get the respect they think they deserve....or qualify for the republican definition of "small business owner"

Don't get it twisted Obama supporter turned Romney supporter, you were never a Obama supporter. When you stand for nothing you fall for any and every thing that blows your way. You appear to be clueless as you run behind Romney the boy child, hoping for a hand out, a crumb, a drop of water that have trickled down from the lying lips of Romney.

So I read that Dianne and her husband Earl are experienced at hosting presidential candidates over the years in their cafe and they are Independent voters. Come on, this is obvious.

It is obvious. Obviously some transgressions were committed, otherwise the Romeny campaign never would have apologized.

Romney called this woman to apologize and she said he was "mocking" her. REALLY?!? What a total moron who is probably a democrat. She seemed whiney and sensitive. When she said "you'd think it was Obama who was here." That says a lot. She probably voted for him.

Romney is probably not to blame, even though he should have done a walk through the kitchen. In his defense, the campaign trail is an even bigger circus these days. The travelling media has its share of thugs, and now they are joined by all th epeople looking for 15 minutes of fame with a smartphone /video camera acting a fool. It's a shame.
I thought the lady was a bit over the top with her pity party, however.

This is either a great story for sufferers of insomnia or a unpopular news organizations LEFT slant on a candidate that has little to fault!!

Who in there right mind would vote for Romney"

That the other day he couldn't identify a donut!

And don't forget "I like to fire people" and "I read it on the aircraft". Who refers to a plane as an aircraft?

This story was pretty straight forward. In the scheme of things the results are nothing new. Those working on campaigns serve at the pleasure of the candidate. Someone on his staff messed up and did not make sure that everything was done properly. If people allow you to use their businesses, etc., in you campaign they deserve to be treated with respect. That should be the rule, period.

Just keep watching those little signs.Romney and his corporate backers seriously want to make this a nation of primarily minimum wage workers. Yeah, he'll create jobs, 6 dollar an hour jobs even if you're a teacher (remember one of these Repubs said teachers were blue-collar workers) or a firefighter or an engineer, no wait he'll outsource those.
That's also why they do what they can to limit public education, uneducated, low wage people don't cut into corporate profits as much.

First it was the insult about the donuts, now Romney is disrespectful to the lady and her restaurant. First of all, president Obama would have most likely INCLUDED the lady in his group. Romney cares about nobody who is not within his money group. Just look at his backers on Wall street and the private meetings he has with the CEOs. The man is going to push the car back in the hole with all of us.

Of course Romney and his staff would be disrespectful and insensitive to a small business owner – they think the middle class are there to serve them and clean up the messes Republicans leave behind as they step on the middle class who mean nothing to the arrogant elitist Romney who is used to having everyone do everything for him. He does nothing for other people. He is a user not a decent human being who thinks about the feelings or condition of others. Why these tea party nuts support the Republican Party who is destroying their life one program and job at a time is amazing. How do you vote for someone who thinks you are worthless, don't matter, and take your vote and then stomp on you as they leave you in the dust?

    @Four and The Door

If it was Obama, he would have called and blamed it on Bush. Unless it was a European Cafe. Then he would have apologized before his staff even arrived.

As usual for you... a mindless comment with no substance. It doesn't even speak to the subject. Romney is a spoiled preppy – born with a silver foot in his mouth (Thank you Ann Richards). Why would his associates be any different? They 'like" Hispanics and African Americans... maids, pool boys, cooks, and gardeners.

Why would Romney care. They don't have a car elevator !

It's great seeing the behavior of the young Carl Rove , Mitt Romney clones . Have you seen some of Romney's young campaign people , they make Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson look like an old man.

Speaking of Tucker , is he still endorsing Palin ?

Funny. The only real surprise in this story is that the lady who owned the diner acted surprised that R-money and his staff just saw her as a prop, not as a small business owner, not as a potential voter, not as a person worthy of acknowledgement. Everything we've heard about R-money and his views of regular people (you and me) shows that he thinks we are just cogs in the wheels that he owns and turns. What's even sadder is the comments buy republicans/conservatives/pseudoindependents who try to make this some reflection on Obama. Obama didn't do this or treat that "regular" American like a peon. R-money did. We are collateral damage to him on his march to what he feels he's entitled too. So she was right about one thing. The way he treated her is exactly how he will treat the "little people".
