Romney: Obama fails on Russia

(CNN) – Mitt Romney on Wednesday blasted the Obama administration's policies toward Russia, as tensions rise between the country and the United States over the unrest in Syria.

"Russia has openly armed and protected a murderous regime in Syria, frustrated international sanctions on Iran, and opposed American efforts on a range of issues," Romney said in a statement. "This is an unfortunate failure of President Obama's foreign policy."

This week, top officials from Russia and the U.S. launched scathing attacks, accusing each other of arming sides in the ongoing conflict in Syria.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday charged Russia with sending attack helicopters to Syria, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov dismissed those claims, alleging instead that the United States was escalating the conflict by arming the Syrian opposition.

The war on words raised questions about the future of U.S.-Russia relations, especially given the recent re-installation of Vladimir Putin as the country's president and his snub at the G-8 meeting last month.

"The relationship is not headed in the right direction, but I don't think there's much the United States can do about that," Fareed Zakaria, host of CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS," said Tuesday in an interview with CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

He added: "There's not much the Obama administration has done that frankly is objectionable with regard to the Russians."

Romney himself made headlines in March when he argued Russia was the country's "number one geopolitical foe." While he has refrained from using the term again, his campaign did not back down from arguing that the country posed a serious threat to the global balance of power.

Obama's team has since used the line to slam Romney as outdated and stuck in a Soviet-era mindset on foreign policy issues.

Zakaria, however, said Russia would first have to overcome its own internal struggles before taking up the mantle of a "great power."

"Russia is now a second-rate power, more a great power vacuum than a great power. So to build them up as a great geopolitical adversary of ours, the economy is in shambles, Russian military is in shambles. They wouldn't be on my top five as a geopolitical adversary," he said.

Beat the war drums, Mitt....that is, as long as you're willing to send your sons as the first men in.

If that's the case, America could look forward to many years of peace if Mitt were elected. Romney and sons have figured out how to stay out of the military pretty well.

I'm sick of Romney constantly playing Monday Morning Quarterback. He waits for Obama to do something, then takes the exact opposite position. This man is not a leader.

Gee, how odd. We've always gotten Russia to do what we wanted them too in the past, right?

"Obama" FAILS on everything, just because he's "Obama"

I want to see the look on Mitt's face when he DOESN'T get nominated. (Ben & Jerry would be a better choice)
But the real reason for making this a year-long campaign is because, like Barbara Bush says, Mitt is just a terrible candidate, and Republicans are getting forced (maybe bought off) to run him and they know it will take a lot of advertising to make people accept him.
Kind of like Raisin Bran Flakes, you hate them, but you like the California Raisins commercials...

Romney is a chicken hawk clown. His voice is so annoying. He seem to be one of those guys who go around and whisper untrue rumors in people ears about the guy who job or girl he is trying to get. I cannot for the life of me see him as a great leader. Sorry, I have try, but I get nothing but a coward at best.

    WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!

Why would a candidate make accusations when they DON'T know what's going on behind the scenes? What does R-Money know about Russia – He can see it from one of his “thousands” windows?? What does R-Money suggest – GOING TO WAR??? What an idiot – he knows NOTHING about foreign policies and it shows!! His answer to EVERYTHING is “ridicule without solutions!”

REMEMBER: "... I’m not familiar precisely with exactly what I said but I stand by what I said whatever it was...?" His EXACT words!!!

Russia is playing our game now . Remember the Private war of Charlie Wilson. What goes around comes around.... What we need to do now is arm all the oposition forces in Syria and let the Carnage Begin .Assassinating Assad would be a good start but we need to wipe out his Regime and any of his family who could take control in other words Fight Fire With Fire and hope for the best..... Romney will loose the election so we need to get Obama Off his Duff . Charles Bowen Solomon Stone
