(CNN) – Florida Gov. Rick Scott is not dead. But according to one elections official in Naples he died in 2006.
That’s the story the Republican governor told the Miami Herald Thursday, explaining how he attempted to cast an early ballot and was told the unsettling news.

“I went in, I was doing early voting, so I went in to the office in Naples, in the city hall where they were doing early voting, and they said, ‘You can’t vote because you’re dead.’ They didn’t say you couldn’t vote, they said, ‘You’re dead. You’re passed away,’” Scott said.
The officials, after seeing Scott’s ID, allowed him to cast a provisional ballot, and the next time he went to vote he appeared to re-join the ranks of the living.
“They didn’t ask for it the next time I voted, so I guess I’m not dead anymore,” Scott told the Herald.
Scott, who was elected governor in 2010, is currently embroiled in dueling lawsuits surrounding his push to remove non-U.S. citizens from Florida’s voter rolls. On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Justice formally filed suit against Florida, saying the removal efforts violated federal voting rules.
Florida filed a lawsuit of its own against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, saying the federal agency was restricting access to a citizenship database.
On Thursday, Scott told the Herald he “couldn’t imagine why we’re having a conversation about having non-citizens voting in our state.”
“Nobody believes non-US citizens should vote,” Scott continued. “We know they register to vote and we know they vote in elections.”

Too bad it's not true! Scott is the poster child for all that is wrong with politics. He and his cronies in Tallahassee have done more to destroy trust in local government than Huey Long could have ever hoped to do. But, that's the good-old-boy, redneck system in Florida.
I think it was in Wyoming in 2010, I might be mistaken about that, the Republicans thought there was voter fraud and they did an investigation after the election. They found 7 people had voted illigally but even with those there was some kind of mistake... and it was not fraud... I understand Rick Scott's group has identified 180,000 people who are not eligible to vote. How can they even process 180,000 interviews or correcctions by election day... to fix the problem...
Amen to John in Florida. He is right on in his comments.
As I suspected... he is undead. Perhaps a minion of the 3rd ring of Hell.
All I can say is that given the enormous outcry from liberals and Democrats about removing DEAD and ILLEGALS from the voting roles, there sure must be a lot of them and they sure must have been counting on using them in the elections. They could care less about the rights of CITIZENS to have their vote count and not be negated by these illegal voters. Just like Obama who could care less about the laws of this country when it comes to illegals in this country.
It is comical to hear the lefties say that there is no illegal voting problem while they fight EVERY attempt to ensure this is no opportunity for it. How do you KNOW there is no problem? The ONLY way is you have poll workers there that know every voter on the voting rolls and can flag people voting for dead people. And illegals aliens voting? Well that is impossible to determine because they can't be asked for an ID. and even that can't be checked at that time.
The ONLY way to deter or stop the 10-20 MILLION illegal aliens from voting in our elections and nullifying legal votes by citizens is to require IDs be presented and by regular review of the voting rolls.
It has become clear that Democrats simply want to be able to steal close elections with these illegal and dead voter name on the voting rolls. The American people refuse to let that happen. Sorry lefties. You're going to have to win elections honestly, which you usually cannot do because your ideas STINK.
Very easy mistake to make even when he is in the room. Apparently, he is not helping matters concerning rumors of his death with the apparent direction of the Romney campaign to stay away while Romney pretends to be a "regular guy" touring the backroads of the USA. Romney is about creating wealth....not jobs. This is their number one spin on reality. Wealth creation does not equal job creation for the likes of Bain Capital and partners. When Romney actually governed, his record on deficit creation is outstanding and job creation ranked 47th. He also supported the Romneycare which was one of the models used in creating afforable healthcare. However, Mr. flip flop or Mr Etch a sketch is doing his best to distance himself from all past statements which contradict the current political winds. What a leader the GOP has chosen!
He just look that way. See what happen in the purging process Rick. What a web we weave when we try to deceive.
I've seen corpses in morgues who look more alive then this guy and certainly have more heart.
So the elections department cut him some slack over an obvious registration error but the Governor will not do the same to Flordians.
Well of course, we all knew Dick Cheney was an accomplished necromancer: his hunting partner, John McCain, Rick Scott, and now all the dead(?) Republican voters.
I saw him at Trader Vics drinking a pina colada....his hair was perfect...
I always knew he was a Zombie.
This is INSANE!!! How can the democrats possibly get away with this? Democrats & their ideology; God....it makes me want to puke!!!
I don`t wish anyone to be dead, but I sure am ashamed of the fact that this guy is the governor of Florida. We have a lot of criminals roaming the streets in Florida, and this guy is the biggest criminal of all. He should be in prison.
Not moving to Florida – thing are really messed up down there by their own doing.
