(CNN) - Her husband, the presidential candidate, may be better known for his ties to the Olympics, but this year, Ann Romney will have some skin in the games.
Rafalca, the horse she co-owns, and trainer Jan Ebeling earned a spot on the U.S. Equestrian Team on Saturday in the sport of dressage and will advance to this summer's Olympic Games in London.

The horse placed third in the Olympic Grand Prix Special Test, held Saturday in Gladstone, New Jersey. Rafalca scored an overall 73.169%, placing behind competitors Calecto V and Legolas, and ahead of nine others.
"It's great to be part of the Olympics again," Romney tweeted. "We are so proud of Jan and Team USA. Now let's bring home the gold!"
Dressage requires a combination of "the strength and agility of gymnastics with the elegance and beauty of ballet," according to the U.S. Equestrian Federation. The sport takes place in an arena and routines are judged on "accuracy of the transitions (changes of gait), obedience, suppleness of the horse, quality of the gaits, and the rider's use of aids."
Mitt Romney's presidential campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

Another "common man" moment.
First of all her husband is better known for lying and not being able to understand that what you said today or yesterday on tape is NOT erased.
I am glad to see that somebody who says he is touch with the middle class (yeah, right) can afford a horse that costs over $20,000 (average $30K and up) when so many Americans can't afford a roof over their heads or food or medicine.
They are beautiful horses but they might be too big to put on top of an SUV for transport!
He has horses, elephants, chariots, king Romney, can invade with all the dollars in CAYMAN ISLAND, and Swiss....nonsense idiot....election is rich elite v/s middle class America...
Owning an Olympic athelete, huh? Why doesn that not surpirse anyone. Own a gardner, own a NASCAr TEAM, OWN A HORSE. cOOL. Makes him a regular guy.
These Romnutts have NO IDEA what it is like to be a regular American.
Ah yes, Mrs. Everywoman and her horses.
Good for her, what a great story to show how the Bishop is really just one of us....
How many of YOU own race horses and a multi-car elevator garage, America? GET REAL!
This is a great way to "hook-up" with the working folks... Most of the working people have their dressage horses in a pawn shop waiting for the Republicans to stop obstructing the recovery of our economy.
"Now let's bring home the gold!". Don't you mean let's bring home the jobs you sent to China!
Terrific! Ritchie Rich for President! NOT.
Dressage – the people's sport.
Romney used a government bailout to save the 2002 Olympics. Kinda goes against conservative principles?
Show horse breeders... Oh yeah, they're in touch with middle America.
Now Mittens is connecting with the common man. Because most of us own race horses and our neighbors horses run in the Olympics all the time. Of course, we have elevators for our cars.
Wow! They really are in touch with the "average American". Most of us own or train Gran Prix level dressage horses (please note the sarcasm.....most horses at this level are extremely expensive!)
Well, the man like horse races
This should help them relate to the average American worker. Most working Americans own horses, don't they?
What does a horse, a car elevator, homes in 5 in state all have in common? It's out of touch with the average person. The Romney's are out of touch with middle class Americans.
I’m sure that many of Romney’s supporters can relate. They all have prize horses too competing in the Olympics – especially the poor uneducated whites who vote Republican. Why else would they vote for Romney? Well, he’s also White and that goes a long way for many.
Just your average American family. Owning a horse that is headed for the Olympics. Yep these clowns know what a middle class family has to deal with these days. lol
Yeahh... I can't relate. I shop Wal-Mart. They don't sell discounted thoroughbreds.
This is like Romney know NASCAR owners. He is too wealthy to really know what the average and poor American really wants.
He owns car elevators, horses in the Olympics, Swiss bank accounts, and Cayman Islands offshore accounts. Yes, Mitt Romney is truly a man of the people.
Mitt & Ann just don't get it. And never will.
Oh yes, these people are really in touch with the average american people.
