Romney calls Obama weak on nuclear Iran

(CNN) – For the second day in a row, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney labeled his rival weak on combating a nuclear Iran, saying President Barack Obama is more worried about Israel, an American ally, taking preventative military action than about Iran itself.

"This president has communicated in some respects that he might even be more worried about Israel taking direct military action than he is about Iran becoming nuclear," Romney said Sunday on CBS. "That's the opinion of some who watch this."

Romney made similar remarks Saturday, speaking via satellite to a conference of evangelical Christians in Washington.

Asked by a member of the audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference how he would handle relations with Israel as president, Romney said, "I think by and large you can just look at the things the president's done and do the opposite."

He also used his line hitting Obama, saying: "He's almost sounded like he's more frightened that Israel might take military action than he's concerned that Iran might become nuclear."

The tough rhetoric from Romney drew a response from Obama's re-election team, which issued a statement listing important steps taken by the Obama administration to bolster relations with Israel while slamming the Republican candidate for attempting to "score cheap political points by distorting President Obama's record of support for Israel."

"Our relationship with Israel is too important for Gov. Romney to play politics with it," Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt wrote.

In an interview with the Atlantic Monthly in March, Obama maintained that a nuclear Iran was "unacceptable," and said Iran and Israel understand that he isn't bluffing about his opposition to an Iranian nuclear weapon.

"I think that the Israeli government recognizes that, as president of the United States, I don't bluff," he said.

"I also don't, as a matter of sound policy, go around advertising exactly what our intentions are," Obama continued. "But I think both the Iranian and the Israeli governments recognize that, when the United States says it is unacceptable for Iran to have a nuclear weapon, we mean what we say."

Iranian officials have insisted their nuclear program is intended solely for peaceful purposes, though their statements have not persuaded officials in Washington and Jerusalem.

He has no knowledge about the situation. What a joke of a candidate.

Romney and the GOP have zero credibility on foreign policy. They should be embarrassed to even open their mouths on the topic.

The problem is that Romney doesn't know all the information is coming to the president and the choice that were made. If he knew that, then that might be an acceptable stgatment. Right now, it doesn't sound like Romney has a clue to what is beging done.

When Sheldon Adelson writes you a 10 million dollar check, you best get on the "invade Iran" train. Romney will get us into another war and blow up the deficit big time. He'll attempt to pay for it by cutting all your Medicare and Social Security, but a quagmire in Iran will surely bankrupt us. Not that this matters to him. The USA is just one country to a guy who rubs shoulders with the heads of multinational corporations and also keeps a sizable amount of his fortune in off-shore accounts.

Unlike his predecessor, President Obama is worried about getting us embroiled in another conflict without all the necessary facts. That's not weak, that's smart. If Mitt wants to show how brave and patriotic he is why doesn't he have one of his five sons to join the military...or is Mitt too weak?

Politics, politics and more politics! Mr Romney will say anything he knows prospective voters want to hear in order for him to win! Governing as president and campaigning for president are opposite sides of the coin! War with Iran! Can you imagine the toll on our country and more specifically on our economy?

God this man is sick! As if he knows the level of detail POTUS knows in why it is the way it is. Just jump right on in there with your Fox news opinion Mitt, like they and you know all the details to make intelligent decisions. So far, you are king of bluff with nothing to stand on except lies as Bain CEO and Mass Guv. Grow up and start acting presidential if just maybe you want a wee bit of a chance to succeed at your childlike dream. Quit slamming Obama and let us know a little about where you stand on world and domestic issues, all flip-flopping aside that is. Really, tell us who you really are!...or is this it??? hahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Obama/Biden 2012 by a long shot!

Just use every word to say "Obama is Wrong" and there'll be a lot of very stupid people who will want you for President. Hopefully there are more intelligent US citizens than stupid ones!

The flip flopper calling anyone else weak is hilarious. He needs to shut up and sit down and let the grown people run the country.

  13. Four more years of THIS?! NO WAY!!

Come on Romney, Obama is the strongest leader from behind the country has ever had. And he has backed that up with numerous "present" votes, tossing several allies under the bus and disclosing some our biggest secrets. Calling him "weak" is an understatement.

Can Romney EVER say anything other than "fail" or "weak"? Where are his ideas? Besides starting another war and tax relief for his cronies...

Liar,Liar,Mitts pants are on fire. What a lame and wishy washy, flip floppy statement "some respects" "might even" "the opinion of some" not one fact in this flat out lie of Romneys. I guess bearing false witness every single day makes Mitts feel good about his seven year run for the Whitehouse.

This is why people want vote for Romney, all he think about is getting our young men in another war. He is praying that
Israel bomb Iran, why is it that the GOP love wars? These are the pro-life saint, what a joke. I suppose his five boys and
a couple of his Grandchildren who is of age will be going, Oh wait they can't because of their religion. I have three nephew
who been in these wars too long, but I know they will do their jobs and keeping going back.

So what are you saying Mitt? That you would send in the troops? Tell the people that so they know you want to start another war after you are elected.

Pfft! When was the last time Mittens attended a National Security Briefing? What does he know about foreign policy?

President Obama has done a terrific job on behalf of our country, both domestically and internationally. Mittens is just another GOP blowhard willing to say and do anything to get elected – including floating the same GOP economic, military and foreign policies that are all PROVEN FAILURES, hoping that American voters forget the mess they left us with in 2008.

Ask Romney if he is willing to donate all of his $250 million to help to pay off USA debt but he can keep his $10 million so in that way we can see if he truly cares about our country.

It's quite apparent that Mitt has no clue about foreign affairs. But on the other hand I hope he wins so the GOP can see how much of a fool he really is. Obama hasn't done the best job I feel, but Mitt and the GOP scare me and I'm an Independent.

Romney want's to start another war.

Unfortunately , none of Mitts five sons or Grandchildren will ever volunteer for military service.

Until Economists and Politicians realize that wars cost more then they make , nothing will change.

We used to defend those that couldn't defend themselves , now we defend those who won't even lend capital, so all can prosper.

President Obama knows and understands that war or military strikes by Israel against Iran should be avoided if at all possible and he is right.
There are questions remaining with little actual proof that Iran is as dangerous as Israeli Government officials claim; we've heard the wolf cry falsely before and it's time to allow for sanctions and diplomacy to work before we blow everything up and wind up years longer occupying another region in The Middle East. Our Soldiers are depleted, worn-out and we as a nation are broke. Makes more sense to come to the table without preset conditions and demands and discuss things like adults.

Here is the Mitt Romney strategy: Make the election a refferendum on Barack Obama, avoid-at all costs-into making it a choice election. That's why Romney is so shrewed with his attacks. He never states an alternative solution,or rather, what he would do. Instead he speaks in generalities and always brings the conversation back into a critiicism of Barack Obama.

The sad truth is that there's no even single line from Iran on saying that the U.S. is actually a real friend to Iran so far.
