Sunny Romney predicts Wisconsin win

Janesville, Wisconsin (CNN) – Mitt Romney's feel-good tour of small-town America rambled onward Monday with stops in Wisconsin, where the sunniness outside seemed to be reflected by the presumptive GOP nominee.

"You know what, we're going to win Wisconsin," he told an audience of about 900 supporters in the battleground state, echoing a confident declaration he'd made in Pennsylvania earlier on his bus tour.

"I'll tell ya, I think President Obama had just put this in his column," he told voters in the Badger State Monday, where Republican Gov. Scott Walker recently triumphed in a closely-watched recall election. "[Obama] just assumed at the very beginning Wisconsin was going to be his."

Romney was supportive of Walker in campaign appearances in advance of the state's presidential primary, but did not travel back to Wisconsin in the weeks leading up to the recall vote.

The state could pose an uphill challenge for Romney. Wisconsin has not voted for a Republican for president since 1984, and the CNN Electoral Map currently has Wisconsin "leaning Obama."

Once again in Janesville, Romney was joined onstage by a cadre of vice presidential contenders – fueling veepstakes speculation by the audience at the textile mill where he spoke.

His compatriots included who's who of up-and-comers and establishment Republicans: Gov. Scott Walker, fresh off state Democrats' failed recall attempt, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, Sen. Ron Johnson and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

Dan Sinykin, the owner of the Monterey Mills plant, presented Romney with an embroidered American flag blanket and hinted the governor might like to end the vice presidential speculation there and then.

"We personalized them, and they went so well together – one is custom embroidered for you, Gov. Romney, and the other one is embroidered for Congressman Ryan," Sinykin said, to applause.

He then dropped a broad hint: "Gov. Romney, we're in Congressman Ryan's hometown, he's right here. If you have an announcement to make…"

The audience cheered with approval, but to no avail.

Next up, Romney's bus will make stops in Iowa Monday evening and in Michigan on Tuesday.

Most people in Janesville want their social security and medicare taken away. If only Romney could eliminate those auto workers pensions, and close down the VA hospitals, he would be a sure winner in WI. Romney/Ryan making the middle class and poor pay for republican extravagance and tax cuts for the wealthy.

Earth to Mitt......just like your incorrect statement earlier about PA, you will NOT win Wisconsin. Next up MI, your "home" state (?) which you will also lose. Go to Texas, Alabammy, or Kansas to make your bold predictions. Those places you will win because the sheep don't follow what you actually say.

yeah probably will if you spend 27 millions and millions of outside money that will influence the race. The conservatives on the supreme court did exactly what the republicans wanted them to do in order to make sure the race would tilt towards whomever the republican candidate is! DIRTY MONEY, FOREIGN MONEY, Mitt Romney will sell his soul to the devil himself to try and win this election!

Once the People of Wisconsin see what a success Walker is they will vote for Romney instead of the Golfer-in-Chief. They appreciate SUCCESS.

This guy makes no bones about it, you will always see just white folks in the background and in his audience. Pompus little snob who thinks being President is an entitlement by birthright and wealth. When is this guy going to come clean and explain why he has secret bank accounts abroad, away from our own government's scrutiny. Why is he getting a free pass on this?

To think that the Kochs, Rove, their PACs, and Adelson, are putting up almost $2 billion to put this moron in the white house. Where does the "I got nothing" tour go next from Wisconsin?

Yes, but the exiting polls showed that Wisconsin voters didn't feel Walker's efforts were worth recalling him over and they'd vote for Obama over Romney in the Presidential election.

Paul Ryan would make an excellent Vice President in the Romney Administration. Imagine that. A VP actually capable of leading the country forward in a meaningful way on his own. But even better would be the team Romney/ Ryan and the good things they could accomplish for recovering the economic problems and getting Washington back in the business of doing good things for Americans. All Americans.

  15. Why have an election?

Romney has now predicted a win in Pennsylvania and in Wisconsin. Tune in next week when Romney's bus rolls into Albany, and Romney predicts a win in New York. "I'll tell ya, gosh, why are they are even going to have an election. It's our time."

Can this guy even actually win in his home state? I am not sure what Romney even calls his home state. How many home states does he actually have?

    Massachusetts: Can't win there.
    Michigan: Can't win there.
    California: Can't win there.

You are stuck in the fairy tales of 2009. Fortunately Wisconsin is not. Governor Walker has saved the state $1 billion with reforms while improving education and not raising property taxes. We could use someone with his capabilities in California where the Democrats in Sacramento have passed a joke budget which assumes citizens are eager for another sales tax increase. So Jerry Brown can continue his out-of-control spending? No thanks. With the quick positive results shown in states like Wisconsin and New Jersey, American voters see that conservative government management works. Tax and spend is not the philosophy for American success.

  21. 900 People

You left off a zero, right. You meant 9000, right? So 900 people; you really meant 900.

Only Mitt Romney could look out at a "crowd" of 900 people and predict a win in Wisconsin. This guy calls President Obama out of touch?

Dear Misguided Mitt, it is 900 people. Don't get too excited and say something stupid...........

They are voting in the guy who was awestruck over visiting a WAWA in Pennsylvania? This man is nothing but a rich wimp who thinks that he is entitled to the presidency. He has no clue about the real world. He should win something after his cronies have put up those billions of dollars to get their puppet elected. Either that or they are going to steal the votes. The republicans can not win on fairness, they have to lie cheat and steal their way through life. He was late for his breakfast because he did not think it was important to go out in the rain and get his pretty hairdo all wet. Where are the records for his swiss accounts? Oh I forgot his a white republican and it does not matter. They were willing to vote for Gingrich so the rest f America really knows where their heads are. Just any old body will do for the republicans who will keep up the wars and the tax cuts for the rich and they have found their villiage idiot in Mittens.
