Washington (CNN) – Caught off guard by the Obama administration's shift in immigration policy last week, Republicans on Tuesday refined their response in an effort to lessen any political bounce for the president at what had been a tough time in his campaign.
Certain GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney led the Republican counterattack, accusing President Barack Obama of undermining the possibility of long-term immigration reform by taking the partial step of halting deportations of some young illegal immigrants who came to America as children.
The only work the Republican Congress has succeeded in doing in their 150 days is complain, complain and complain. Since that's all they've proven they are capable of doing, other than collecting a taxpayer paycheck and taking elaborate vacations, President Obama was working on behalf of human rights for all people. And of course, the GOP is complaining, complaining and complaining, that's all folks.
So when you hear Repuiblicans like Boehner complaining the new policy makes it difficult for Republcians to work with Democrats, what he is really saying is that Republicans have been forced into a corner and see no way out of it and still be able to block the policy without losing face.
Remember the debacle last Xmas over the payroll tax cut? The Tea Party House objected and objected, painted themselves into a corner, and finally had to flip-flop on their positions. Similar sort of deal here. Republicans want to object on principal, because it is something Pres. Obama wants. But, they cannot object because it would cost them too much politically. They would be on the wrong side of public opinion.
lovethe usaorleave – Yup, you found them out. Illegals who are afraid of the government because they can be deported are going to register to vote. Makes perfect sense if you don't use your brain, Good Grief, do you think before you speak or just mindlessly spout talking points.
What do they plan on refining? I think the only thing that they would like to refine is oil. What did they do when George W. Bush and the GOP controlled the Congress and the White House, nothing happened on immigration. They could have secured the Latino vote (at least part of it) with getting that done.
Refine this: The republican led house, is filled with people unfit to hold office. Their only desire is to disrupt process, and cause chaos. They've been successful at one thing, and one thing only. They've all but brought the American dream down to the point of making it a nightmare. Thanks.
I hope all those who disrespect the President take the advice given in your name.
