Washington (CNN) – Caught off guard by the Obama administration's shift in immigration policy last week, Republicans on Tuesday refined their response in an effort to lessen any political bounce for the president at what had been a tough time in his campaign.
Certain GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney led the Republican counterattack, accusing President Barack Obama of undermining the possibility of long-term immigration reform by taking the partial step of halting deportations of some young illegal immigrants who came to America as children.
FULL STORY

Oh boy, here they come scrambling to make a statement, because they already know the outcome, and it is heavily favored by Americans.
Obama has proven over and over he will break any law he needs to break in order to get re-elected. Granting amnesty to nearly a MILLION illegals is NOT use of "discretionary powers". "discretionary power" is done on a case by case basis, not enmasse. People need to be dragging the Obama Adminstration into court to confront this lawlessness or this country is heading toward a leftist dictatorship if Obama gets re-elected.
ok so NOW the GOP wants to talk immigration reform. The elephant is out the barn now fellas.
The Quote of the Decade:
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006
I want to hear them say that is was their plan all along or that they speak to the president weeks ago.
Backpeddling is fun huh?
GOP..."WE can NOT give Obama a WIN". "WE can NOT give Obama a WIN" that's the fixation they have no matter what the country thinks.
Running scared are we?
Stick it to them Mr. President!
Hussein didn't resolve anything except to make the situation worse. Did he resolve the problem? NO!!
CONGRATS AGAIN HUSSEIN!!!!!
The GOP are beyond pathetic. Nothing but a bunch of jokers who only care about their poltical power.
We now know the truth of why Obama & Holder want states not to purge their voting systems of Illegal's immigrants.
They can "refine" all they want. The truth is the President's actions showedd them up for what they are- a group that either blocks all legislation (as they do in the Senate), or where they have a majority (the House) they pass 110 laws on abortion and birth control-NOT immigration, jobs, or anything sensible.
The GOP made Congress irrelevant.
All OWEbama did was take what Rubio had been working on and steal it to get votes. He does not care about anyone in this country left or right. I am an independent and could not vote for him as he does not respect the laws of this country. He is no more than a common thug doing everything he can to keep power. To him, so far his admin has been a success. He has broken the country's spirit and won't stop until there is nothing left for anyone. Watch.
Only a dishonest journalist would call an unconstantutional order a SCOOP..,
Owebama did nothing more than steal a plan that Rubio had been working on. He will do anything to get votes. He does not care about Lation's, Gay's, Left or Right. He will do anything to stay in power and finish his mission. As far as he is concerned his past 3 1/2 yrs have been a success. He has broken the spirit of this Country and will not stop until there is nothing left for anyone. While all the special interest groups bicker he will steal the whole Country right out from under the people. I am an Independent and could not vote for him. He does not respect the laws of this Country. He is no more than a common thug. Watch, you will see.
So after accusing the president of political pandering they counter it with....political pandering?
At least they are freely admitting that they were all for this type of policy change until the other guy announced it.
Just like the ACA...
My GOP idea=good, you Democrats announcing the same idea=bad.
Got it.
He has had two years of all Congress and the WH and did not address imigration or jobs. What makes you think he will?
Woman In California
Running scared are we?
Stick it to them Mr. President!

I totally agree with you. This move by President Obama has guaranteed him the Latino vote as well as other illegal non-Latino immigrants which more than should give him the win to re-election.
Is crybaby implying that the reichwing in incapable of expanding on President Obama's "scoop"? Or is it more a case of unwillingness?
Love the photo: Boehner looks to thunder-struck to even start crying. Lots of luck, alexithymic Mitt in trying to make a come back from this punch. Het, Mitt, want to still keep babbling that President Obama is weak?

And the worst part was that debt in March 2006 didn't even include the two unfunded wars, unfunded tax cuts for the wealthy and Medicare Part D. Imagine how much more debt would have been incurred had the previous occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue been honest and forthright with his spending.
I am so glad I can stay in this country and vote for Obama now. Thank you Mr. President. I'm so glad I didn't have to wait and stand in line like all the others to get a free pass. I'd like to thank you for all the free government services as well and a special thanks to those states that subsidize illegals like me with in-state tuition. America is truly the home of the freebie, especiallly for us illegals. I'm really looking forward to bringing the rest of my family here now. You are the best Mr. Obama. Keep up the good work.
@California – "Hussein didn't resolve anything except to make the situation worse."
*****************************************************
Exactly how does this make the situation worse? Can you see that you comment has little value if you do not articulate some sort of logical basis for it? Also, can you explain why you refer to the President of the United States as "Hussein"? Do you refer to Bush 41 as Herbert and 43 as Walker? Or can we assume your reference to the POTUS as Hussein (and all in caps the second time) tells us much about you as a human being?
The President takes action, while the GOP "postures" and "refines". You Romney supporters need to explain why he criticizes the President, but says very little about what he would do if elected? Perhaps it's because when he has mentioned specifics, he has frequently had to walk those comments back because a majority of the American public doesn't like his ideas.
The Republican's stance on immigration is hurting the "job-creators." If they could hire people for 50 cents per hour, it would be the equivalent of a huge tax break. And with all their extra money, think of how many non-union, minimum-wage jobs they could create!
TOO Funny, like the GOP showing up at the prom and finding out that someone else is wearing "their" dress.....
You Snooze.....You Lose....
the GOP should have taken a rational stand on immigration Looooooong ago.....other than "send e'm all back".....but that would have offended the TEA party
