Bristol Palin defends mom during reality show premiere

(CNN) – One episode in, Bristol Palin is already delivering the drama.

In her new reality television series, which premiered Tuesday night, the 21-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin found herself in a heated brawl at a Los Angeles bar as she defended her mom against verbal attacks.

The Lifetime program, "Life's a Tripp," follows Bristol as she works as a summer volunteer in L.A. and takes care of her three-year-old son, Tripp.

Bristol, however, is no stranger to TV crews. Her family was the focus of a TLC program, "Sarah Palin's Alaska," and Bristol herself participated in the popular series, "Dancing with the Stars," in which she finished third place.

This time, the new hour-long program places the spotlight entirely on Bristol, who rose to instant fame in 2008 when her mom was tapped as Sen. John McCain's running mate and her family revealed that Bristol, then 17-years-old, was pregnant.

In Tuesday's debut episode, Bristol moves into her friend's L.A. home - in which Bristol takes special note of the numerous bidets - and goes out with a couple of friends to a Western-themed bar.

Drama begins to unfold, however, when her friends convince her to ride a mechanical bull and a man from the crowd shouts out a lewd remark.

"Did you ride Levi like that?" he yelled, referring the father of Bristol's child, Levi Johnston. "Your mother's a whore."

As a fuming Bristol storms over to the man, cameras and lights in tow, she mutters under her breath, "Watch this." She confronts the individual, who appears to have had a few too many drinks, and asks why he made the comments.

The man continues to throw jabs, calling Bristol's mother "the devil" and accusing her of being unable to speak in a "complete sentence."

Bristol, meanwhile, demands a concrete example to back up his claims, at one point asking if he was mad because he was a "homosexual."

"Pretty much," he responds.

The scrum escalates into a profanity match - mostly driven by the man and his friend - and Bristol's group is quickly escorted out of the bar.

Emotionally distraught, Bristol then calls her best friend, Gino, back in Alaska and tearfully retells the incident. She admits she wants to go home.

While strolling in the grocery store the following day with her sister, however, Bristol acknowledges that she's "over it," despite the fact that video from the tiff had already spread on YouTube.

The rest of the episode follows along as Bristol adjusts to Los Angeles and starts her first day of volunteer work with the group, "Help the Children." She also takes the time to have brunch with Mark Ballas, her dancing partner in "Dancing with the Stars."

During their meal, Ballas asks about Bristol's mom and reveals that Sarah occasionally sends him text messages.

"She's so sweet," he adds.

But the episode ends with Bristol again growing distressed when her sister Willow, who seems bored out of her mind, decides to go back to Alaska.

While trying to convince her to stay, Bristol makes the case that she'll have a hard time finding someone else to take care of her toddler son if Willow leaves.

"Our own friends sell stories about us," Bristol says. "You think some random babysitter's not?"

Ultimately, Willow flies back home.

This is entertainment? Snap out of it, America. The Palins are Alaska's answer to The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, a movie you should see if you haven't already. White trash is found coast to coast, but shouldn't be something that we're proud of.

It sounds like abuse, but this spotlight is the best thing to ever happen to the Palins. They are all pulling in tons of cash now and are "somebody" when before they were "nobody."

Why would someone want to confront her about her mother? That being said, she has a reality show and she needs to expect that those who disagree with her mother's policies will take it out on her. She needs to be thicker skinned or stay out of bars. Does she think she'll meet the man of her dreams there? Maybe she should hang out at dance studios. She could atke a few lessons while she's there.

    it's amazing to me.
When a state has a slight comeback in employment it's because of the governor, if it's the other way it's our Presidents fault.
When gas prices went through the roof it was our Presidents fault. Now gas prices have dropped, not one word.

Why is this even "news"? Didn't this happen awhile ago, and was reported to death then? Look, if you want to identify the entire Palin family as "media whorrs" and "trailer trash", that's okay by me, but why are they even "news"? All the media does is keep replaying the same old song. Hey, we get it, so can the media just move on and not "feed the beast", that's the Palin family's desire to make money by being the center of attention? PLEASE??

This is rich. She wants her 15 minutes and she is getting what she wants, and it won't be very nice.
Who in their right mind asks their 17 year old sister to move away from her own family to "babysit" so Bristol can go run around to bars and let the sister raise the child.
She is setting a great example- wow, how many girls want to grow up to be this?

Oh please ! This is news ? This trashy family just keeps themselves in the news all the time because the media loves it. They just continue to " enable " them.

She'd better get used to it. As long as her Mom keeps trying to make a living as the world's most ignorant former VP candidate, she's going to be fodder.

See? "Snooki" is so insignificant, (like "Brystol" Palin), I didn't even spell her "name" correctly.

Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. White trash is white trash is white trash.
She's a media who*r* just like her mommy. Bristol, famous for being a pregnant teenager. Yeah, give her a TV show so we can all watch the train wreck.

Ya know....doees it ever occur to anyone that the only people in this country who put these Palins in front of us are the Palins, CNN, FOX, and some suits in the entertainment business who would create a reality show based on truckers picking their nose if they thought they could get viewers to watch it. No one else asks for them, no one else likes them, no one demands them, no one stands in lines to see them or buys tickets to see them. How is it that a group of probably 30-50 people can continue to cram the Palins down the throats of 300 million people who want nothing to do with them??
