Conservative women's group takes out massive ad buy against Obama

(CNN) - A conservative women's advocacy group on Wednesday announced a major ad buy aimed against President Barack Obama's sweeping health care reform.

Concerned Women for America said it's dropping a whopping $6 million on a commercial that will begin airing Wednesday nationwide on cable and in six key swing states.

The 60-second ad features a family practitioner, Dr. Ami Siems, expressing concern about the health care measure, which was passed in 2010 with Democratic support but now awaits a decision on its constitutionality by the Supreme Court.

"Everyone agreed we needed reforms - but this new health care law - it just isn't fixing things," Siems says in the ad, adding that the law will pile billions onto the federal deficit and increase government regulation.

"I don't want anything to come between my patients and me - especially Washington bureaucrats," she says.

The ad buy comes one week after the group announced a get-out-the-vote initiative that targets women in certain battleground states.

"Our members are highly energized on the aspects of the President's health care law; we are making a significant financial investment on this issue because we mean business," said the group's president, Penny Nance, in a statement.

The six states in the ad buy include Minnesota, New Mexico, and Wisconsin-three states that lean toward Obama, according to CNN's Electoral Map. The ad will also run in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Virginia, all of which fall under the "toss-up" category, according to CNN analysis.

What makes this group any different than any other group of conservatives that don't really understand the needs or cares about the poor and middle class? What health care insurance have they offered in alternative?

I wonder how many members/supporters this group actually has. Or is it simply another attractive name fronting big money that wants to get rid of the President and replace him with the more pliable, rudderless Mitt Romney so they can continue or accelerate the fleecing of America.

The only way to provide health care for all citiizens is with socialied medical care. Too many people making money on our overpriced system which provides the most expensive care (twice what other industrialized countries pay) but not the best care. The ignorant say there are long delays with socialized medicine. There's no care without money or insurance in the US. Insurance companies stand between doctors and patients now, seeking any excuse to deny care and increase profits. Medicare for all would provide better baseline care for all citizens. You don't realize how crappy our systen is until you need to use it.

Next you will have America's Animal Lovers taking out ads supporting mitts, claiming their dogs love to ride on the roof of a car.

In a more direct corollary, the dogs would take out the ads themselves, but that would be a stretch

Could Dr. Siems be more specific about which "things" aren't being fixed? Is that supposed to be a pun on tubal ligation and vasectomy as a form of birth control? Haven't a majority of doctors already supported President Obama's healthcare reform?

And, Hey, that Dr. Ami Siems looks real healthy herself. Does she light up a cg at the end of the commercial??

I worked in the health dept in the 70's. Health care at the time from fragment, to now broken, 30 years later, America health care work for Wall street instead of Main street. Health care is for those who can afford it. 50 millions people left out, that is a 3rd world country situation. Health care becomes a cancer to the American economic growth. Too much a burden to employers. The business model was wrong and got worse to this point. Thank God, there is President Obama take the bull by the horn to change it fore the better. Kaiser has co-pay for delivering baby for $90 in 70's. What is it cost now? you see the picture.

Sorry repub women. The MAJORITY of women in America know what the repubs think about Women. You can start with the Red states trying to defund PPH, which for MANY American middle class and Poor women that is their only source of health care. Repub you can also ask your repub Gov Bob, transvaginalprobe, McDonnell what he thinks of health care for women. President Obama has the majority of the American women votes

Sorry repub women, President Obama has the majority of the women votes and you repubs know why.
Lets start with the attempts to defund PPH in the Red states. PPH , for many middle class and poor American women is their only source of health care. And most Americans know the Repubs are for the Rich only.

Should this $6 million be used to help women in distress? Or help women have better and safer healthcare options? No, spend it on TV commercials, because clearly this group of women is concerned with women in America, or Amercia as Romney likes to say.

They are terribly worried about a non profit organization we own and control (the government) "between the doctor and the patient" but could't care less about the private companies that are currently there, profiting handsomely. This is beyond insane.

No Republican in history ever did as much to take women's rights back 5 centuries as Obama is doing by allowing the Taliban to take back Afghanistan in 2014. This is sad to see.

Do you even know what that means? They're guilty of F&F? Or are you just repeating the false talking points of Mitch McConnel, saying that Obama should be impeached for high crimes, but failing to describe what these "high crimes" are?

How cynical and disturbing for a conservative women's group?

Considering the overwhelming benefit to women, children and mothers that law provided.

Well there has to be some sort of group representing rich old, out of touch women who have never worked a day in their life and probably had nannies and personal nutritionists to look after their kids.
