Poll: New evidence that it's a close contest in Florida

(CNN) - A new poll indicates President Barack Obama holds a very slight advantage over Republican challenger Mitt Romney in the battleground state of Florida.

According to a Quinnipiac University survey, 46% of registered voters in the Sunshine State say if the presidential election were held today, they’d vote for Obama, with 42% saying they'd back Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and presumptive GOP nominee. The president's four-point advantage is just within the poll's sampling error.

Reporters, congresswomen pitch each other softballs… literally

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Members were down 11-1 in the bottom of the sixth when from the stands arose a chant that is seldom heard.

CNN: Executive privilege: A rocky legal and political road in U.S. history
President Barack Obama's assertion of executive privilege ahead of a hearing before a House committee, which subsequently recommended his attorney general be cited for contempt of Congress, sets up a fight that has had mixed results in the past. At stake are Justice Department documents relating to the flawed Fast and Furious gunrunning sting that House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-California, wants in his hands, and that Attorney General Eric Holder says are confidential.

CNN: RNC raised $34 million in May, DNC raised $20 million

In the 'Big Easy,' vice president addresses journalists

New Orleans (CNN) – Fresh from rallying public employees and union workers in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden mixed a dose of humor with blunt seriousness at the National Association of Black Journalist convention on Wednesday.

“I believe the differences in this election are stark,” he said. “I believe Romney and this new Republican Party - because this ain’t your father’s Republican Party — (and) their social policy… is a throwback to the ’50’s.”
