Powerful congressman accused of campaign finance violations

Washington (CNN) - Republican Rep. Vern Buchanan, a self-made Florida millionaire, is only in his third term in Congress, but he already is in charge of fundraising for the National Republican Congressional Committee, and he sits on the powerful House Ways and Means committee.

But all that could be jeopardized. Federal investigations underway could result in Buchanan serving his next term behind bars.

Ahhh... Another crooked Republican Congressman. Where's the "outrage" from Republicans in the House? This guy will start singing like a canary when he's looking at hard time in prison. Any bets that he took the Tea Party pledge?

NO POLITICIAN should be seen as too powerful. They are there to serve the people... not themselves and certainly NOT to build themselves an empire.

It seems to be the way of our society and the direction it is taken. More and more people are ok with crossing lines and breaking rules they or their parents would not have. Once upon a time proper rules were important to making us a great nation. I am not talking religious garbage here either but just rules of honor, honesty, decency and civility. As this continues it seeps into all of our nations systems until it further breaks down the rule of law and even our representatives have no reservations about breaking any rule that serves them. It i known in all past civilizations once great as they began to decay. It is up to us to hold them and ourselves accountable otherwise we all lose in the end.

And here come the right-wingers making excuses to justify his illegal behavior and why it's Obama's fault.

Good, that's the way thy play. They think $$ can make them over the law. The romney guy is the same way. He is lieing to people and its all for the rich to stay rich and the working class that works hard to get a pay roll check will pay the way for America while the rich gets all the breaks if romney was to win. So make sure to vote and vote Obama 2012 and hillery Clinton 2016

First Rep. Maxine Waters (D) then Rep. Charles Rangel (D) and now Rep. Vern Buchanan (R)? Seriously, what is wrong with all these representatives??

  11. Four more years of THIS?! NO WAY!!

What's the big deal here? Charlie Rangel and John Edwards broke the laws and nothing happened. Obama breaks the laws of this country every single day. Democrats have proven the laws don't apply and people can do whatever they want so why waste the time and money on this?

This was all a well known fact all the way back in the 2006 congressional race, and his Democratic opponent brought it front and center. But the monied interests in Sarasota County and their low income useful idiots in the sticks put him over the top.

Where's the wall-to-wall coverage on Fox regarding this corrupt behavior by a politician? Afraid he'll implicate your own political "contributors"?

@Four more years of yada yada from right wing posters who do nothing but copy-paste Fox lies and talking points:

"What's the big deal here? Charlie Rangel and John Edwards broke the laws and nothing happened. Obama breaks the laws of this country every single day. Democrats have proven the laws don't apply and people can do whatever they want so why waste the time and money on this?"

Edwards just finished a criminal trial; Rangel lost his chairmanship on the House Ways and Means committee and on July 29, 2010, he was charged by the committee with 13 counts of violating House rules and federal laws. President Obama has not broken the law (except by being a black man in the White House, which for folks like you is treason).

So unplug Fox and start thinking for a change!

And every dime he raised should be returned to the folks who contributed – or better yet, applied to the two wars Bush put on our nation's credit card.

as a Republuican he's innocent until proven guilty, unlike if he were a Democrat then it would be the other way around, just ask Eric Holder.

The people who tell you that Microsoft fonts were around in 1973 (Dan Rather lib lies) have convicted this guy of a crime, obviously as Democrats what they say is all lies and hate, today's Democrats don't even have a single moment of lie, decency, or compassion for others at any point in their entire existence, observe them, the facts are the facts.
