Washington (CNN) - Republican Rep. Vern Buchanan, a self-made Florida millionaire, is only in his third term in Congress, but he already is in charge of fundraising for the National Republican Congressional Committee, and he sits on the powerful House Ways and Means committee.
But all that could be jeopardized. Federal investigations underway could result in Buchanan serving his next term behind bars.
I agree w/Danny's post, but would like to add a word! Integrity! It's universal, bipartisan & w/out it we are not adhering to a code of values! A person w/out self-integrity isn't likely to display honor, honesty or the other values Danny mentioned! Rather, they're apt to display selfinterest, greed, ent.itlement, all the while trying to disguise their dirty deeds as "good will in good faith"! It's apparently next to impossible for people faced w/large amounts of (other peoples) $$$ to keep their hands off it! Even when they're rich & powerful on their own & stand to lose Everything, most of all, their Integrity! Why? I don't get it!!
First Rep. Maxine Waters (D) then Rep. Charles Rangel (D) and now Rep. Vern Buchanan (R)? Who's next? Harry Mason Reid?
Probably got his start ripping off sailors at the nearby NAS JAX selling cars to them with exorbitant (one might even say usurious) interest rates, using their IDs as their credit check.
