Obama campaign pushes back against 'doing fine' attacks in new ad

(CNN) – President Barack Obama's re-election team is going up with a new campaign commercial in key battleground states that pushes back against Republican attacks over his statement that the private sector's "doing fine."

The TV ad starts with the president expressing empathy on the economy, saying "I've talked to folks, in rope lines, in coffee shops, people who've been out of work. You can tell it wears on them."

The narrator in the spot then touts Obama's efforts on the economy, saying "He's fought to pull us out of economic crisis for three years, and he still is. President Obama's plan keeps taxes down for the middle class. He invests in education, and asks the wealthy to pay their fair share."

The ad then pushes back on Republican challenger Mitt Romney, with the narrator adding that "Mitt Romney and his billionaire allies can spend millions to distort the President's words, but they're not interested in rebuilding the middle class, he is."

The president's "doing fine" comments, which Obama made on June 8, where quickly maligned by the Romney campaign and by other Republicans. The words were used against the president in TV ads by the Romney campaign and by two independent groups supporting Romney's White House bid.

The Obama campaign says the new spot will run in Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Iowa, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Florida.

The Obama team has bought $17.65 million worth of ad time through July 2nd ($12.8 million in the 9 states and an additional $4.85 million bought last week in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia).

Team Obama is enjoying an almost 5-1 spending advantage in ads over the Romney campaign. By July 2nd it will have spent at least $64.4 million in its general election ad campaign as compared to $13.4 million for Team Romney, which so far has bought time only through Tuesday. But pro-Romney independent groups have greatly outspent pro-Obama groups to run ads during the same time period.

Word of the new Obama campaign ad was first reported by the Huffington Post.

    Republicans don't care whether the private sector is doing fine or not and I'd like to see them win that argument by stop extending the Bush era tax cuts to the 1%.

    What the sorry media is not teling you with their "no acccountability" policy is that his statement on the "private sector" was cut off mid-sentence and the content and context of what he said has been turned into another false Republican ad. How desperate Republicans are that they cannot run on their own merits or ideas or solutions. Oh wait they have none since they obstructed every single piece of legislation for jobs, the economic recovery, and all People programs and set a Senate record for the most filibusters in history. They have to run false ads because of the proven success record of President Obama on jobs, fair pay, small business growth, housing help, Wall St regulations, besides all his foreign policy successes and respect he has brought back for the U.S. I stand with my proven leader President Obama.

    Yes, it is doing fine. OK. My work place is hiring. Lot of IT is hiring. Yes, on OBAMA12.
    --------------------
    What don't you give us the name of your work place so Americans reading these comments that are looking or their friends and relatives can apply. Better yet, the illegal immigrants attending college that now have US Work Permits can apply at your place of work or those closer to the age of 30.

    We will find out in November. The Liars are figuring and the figures are lying and some are buying it. Is the private sector doing fine? The County here is having to lay off and stretch it's budget. How is it where you are?
    ------------
    Wouldn't "the county" be the public sector that is hurting, which is what Pres. Obama was really talking about. How the public sector is doing horrirfically worse than the private sector. I mean, the private sector is sitting on $2 trillion and growing.

    Talk about out of Touch. Obama's life story we are now hearing is built on a bunch of fabrications and we all know he meant what he said. He has always been depicted as a goat herders son but we all know he went to a private school in Hawaii most upper middle class people could not afford and then went to schools for college and law schools that would be near a cool $500K in todays dollars. He is the biggest fraud ever.

    @Romney is not My Hero

    @Obama 2012 – BEND Forward America, take another 4 long years of OBAMA FAILURE AKA Myviewis AKA Four and the Door AKA Truth and Nothing but the Truth

    I like the name Four and the Door. Why don't you just stick with that name?
    -----------------------------------------------–
    It's either that old name or the other one – Truth and Nothing... Both said so many hateful things without a shred of facts or truth associated with them people started ignoring their comments. This new name has run the same course. Ignorance and bigotry is a hard sell to anybody but the far-right-wing radicals.

    California - In many ways Obama is the same as Bush
    ===========================================
    Well, he kept almost all of Bush's foreign policy and security mechanisms. Then he put in all of his own failed domestic policies but countinues to blame BUSH because his own polciies are a failure. Heck, if after 4 years all Obama can do is blame Bush then we should have just kept Bush in the Whitehouse. If Obama gets re-elected and continues all the same failed policies is going to continue to blame BUSH for the next four years as well??!!! It'll be like there never was an Obama presidency, that he essentially showed up, accomplished nothing and blamed others. The ultimate Mr. I-Vote-Present President. But he sure will have had a great time playing golf and hob knowbbing with all his Hollywood friends, while 20 million were unemployed for over 8 years.

    @Myviewis: you need to take a break you are repeating yourself over and over no matter what the subject is. I am retired and read your posts for a good laugh. In an earlier post you said we were all free when our country was formed. You do know that we had slaves in our country that is what the Civil War was about. Please review your American History you were taught in school and think before you post. whay do you seem to hate immigrants so much?

    Is Obama telling this little girl how pretty and adorable she is or is he telling her that under Obamacare it would have been much easier for her mother to have gotten an abortion and gotten rid of her, at somebody elses expense? The left's very real war on the unborn or more of these beautiful kids. Isn't the latter the only "choice"???

    Ray.......the "county" would be considered public sector, and yes, the public sector has suffered. The private sector may not be hiring, but they are reaping record profits and then sitting on their cash. From that perspective, they are doing fine........just not reinvesting their profits to expand the economy.

    This experiment of puting an inexperienced, liberal, black man in the White House has failed miserably.

    there is a big difference between acting like a president and being one...big difference and America is becoming aware of this...good buy obama

    Anyone see a pattern here? It's clear who the president's supporters are (those more educated) and those who fish barefooted (Willard's supporters). All you have to do is just look at the ignorance and grammar above. These idiots are not even worth the time to comment on.

    Sorry Rudy NYC but the private sector is not doing well. Most of us are getting by with a very small staff because Sales are down and Accounts Receivable are not getting paid which means we have to make up for the money not coming in.We're not getting paid because monies are tight for the side also and businesses are hanging on to as much money as we can because we don't know what taxes are going to hit us after the election. I don't think you understand what you are saying in regards to $2 trillion which is why I don't think you are part of the work force.

    Education and teapublikkkans are like the north and south pole.
    That ad nauseum propaganda about the private sector is old and it's not the same as the old man's the economy is doing better and passing the Letterman show to go for an interview on another channel.
    The bishop has done so much harm to so many that he can't run away from it. I wonder if you tube had captured he and his bully buddies going after the prep gay student pining him down and cutting his hair if he would even be trying to run for president. Same with the abuse of Seamus the dog or wearing a state trooper's uniform and stopping cars (jail!).
