Murdoch on Romney: 'Of course I want him to win'

(CNN) – After offering presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney the advice to "hire some real pros" Sunday, Rupert Murdoch followed up Monday, saying he was still in Romney's camp – and that he's been taking some heat over his original tweet.

On Sunday, Murdoch's campaign recommendation was candid:

The message wasn't the first time Murdoch has used Twitter to offer sharp criticism of Romney. Last week he slammed the former Massachusetts governor and two-time presidential candidate for his immigration position.

On Monday, Romney's campaign strategist Eric Fehrnstrom responded to Murdoch's tweets on MSNBC.

"We're happy with the team that we have," Fehrnstrom said. "We're happy with the state of the race. I can't respond to every tweet that Mr. Murdoch sends out, but we like the way things are."

Murdoch's conglomerate, News Corp., owns media properties across the globe, including the Wall Street Journal and Fox News Channel in the United States. In Britain, his newspaper empire includes The Sun and the Sunday Times. In 2011 and 2012, Murdoch has been embroiled in a scandal involving alleged phone hacking at some of his newspaper holdings.

While some of Murdoch's media titles - including Fox News and the New York Post - carry known conservative leanings editorially, the man himself has been known to support candidates of both parties. In 2006, he was reported to have held a fund-raiser for then-Sen. Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, and in 2008, he called then-candidate Barack Obama a "rock star" and praised his education plan. In 2010, News Corp. gave a $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association.

Murdoch, a native of Australia and a naturalized American citizen, is a regular tweeter, sending several messages per week and responding to his followers when they write to him with questions.

Aside from his candid thoughts on Romney, Murdoch also weighed in on this week's bombshell celebrity headline.

"Scientology back in news. Very weird cult, but big, big money involved with Tom Cruise either number two or three in hierarchy," Murdoch wrote.

Rupert – Romney's problem isn'g going to be resolved by hiring real pros – because Romney isn't a real pro at anything himself other than being a real professional snake – like you. Rupert (are you an American or a Brit?) after what you got caught doing – you shouldn't be giving advice to anyone – but keep it up because it will just be another reason for Americans to vote against your boy – Romney. (slime, slime and more slime)

"Save us from socialism."? Nope! More like save us from vulture capitalism as practiced by Romney with Bain.

Murdoch's tepid endorsement should be enough for any sensible person to NOT vote for Romney. Lest I be misunderstood, only Murdoch's absolute distaste would qualify anyone for any office at all, in my view.

Mr. 'I own the World's New' Murdoch backs Mitt Romney. The guy who has his minions hack phones to steal news, backs Mitt Romney. The guy who's company was (is) buying and selling policemen, government officials, and others in order to get information, make more money and protect himself from critics, backs Mitt Romney.

    Why doens't this surprise me.

I vote for MItt Romney is a vote for New of the World running the country.

Rupert and Rob-money: two guys who are AINOs: American in Name Only.

Rupert perpetrates invasion of privacy, purveyance of lies, and cheapening of the press. Rob-money pushes jobs overseas and hides his money off-shore. Neither could be called a real American. Each is out for his own self-promotion rather than what is good for the country.

Murdoch is giving advice? Shouldn't he be under house arrest, at the very least? The funny & ironic thing is that Romney should listen to him! Rupert seems surprised by Mitt's flip-flopping; where has he been all this time? Romney could sell his own brand of Flip-Flops, at this point! Made in China, of course!!

Romeny is cool and all, but he changes his position too much. We have no idea what he is thinking and what he will do. History says he will do exactly what Obama will, so changing the president now would not be any good. Although, since he is a Republican that is on the side of the Democrats there is a chance Democrats can pass more of their bills. Republicans will agree with him since he says he is a Republican and Democrats will agree with him because everything Democrats want to do is in the Democrat agenda. Basically a Donkey in elephant hide. It is a trap for Republicans. They are screwed either way. It would be worse for Republicans either way. If they never approved Bush Era Tax cuts for the rich everything would have not turned out as badly as it did. It would still be bad but not as bad. One simply does not start a war and cut Taxes. Humans never learn. Cutting taxes didn't create new jobs before, it wont do anything now.

Murdoch is one of the greatest conservatives ever. Those people had something illegal to hide so they feared Rupert If you have nothing to hide you should not fear Murdoch or his reporters. Save America from socialism Rupert.

Save us from socialism and deliver us to complete corporate control by greedy right-wings zealots like Murdoch.

Exactly what socialism are you talking about, Murdoch? You mean the socialism you invent on your propaganda channel?

Vote Obama. Save democracy from the plutocrats like Murdoch who just want to freeload on our country by shifting their responsibilities onto the middle class. Tell Murdoch to stop hiding behind a US military he doesn't want to pay for. Tell Murdoch to stop using the roads he doesn't want to pay for. Tell Murdoch to stop flying since he doesn't want to pay for the FAA. Tell Murdoch and his buddies the Koch Brothers to move their homes closer to the pollution generating facilities where they engage in socialism by dumping their pollution costs onto society in general. Tell Murdoch to stop supporting massive government welfare payments to corporations run by his buddies - the corporate-welfare queens.

Exactly how many billions of plutocratic dollars does it take to buy the White House for a candidate as bad as Romney? That's one huge bribe Romney is going to have to repay to the plutocrats.
