(CNN) - – U.S. Rep. Barney Frank married his longtime partner Saturday evening, becoming the first member of Congress to marry someone of the same gender while in office.
Frank's office said the 16-term Massachusetts Democrat married Jim Ready, a small business owner and photographer from Maine at a Newton, Massachusetts ceremony officiated by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick.

The two pledged "to love each other and be each other's best friend, in sickness and in health, in Congress or in retirement, whether the surf is up or the surf’s flat, for richer or for poorer, under the Democrats or the Republicans, whether the slopes are powdery or icy, whether the book reviews are good or bad, for better or for worse, on MSNBC or on Fox."
Three hundred family members, friends and colleagues attended the ceremony, Frank's office said.

Who the heck could stand living with that guy? I can't stand watching him on tv for a minute
I remember hearing him talk a little about this in an interview I think a few weeks ago. Big congratulations to them. Frank is certainly a colorful fellow, and I imagine his life outside of politics (with his impending retirement) will be likewise as colorful.

Mr. Frank and his partner may have united in some ceremony, but they are not married, any more than I could be married to my house or my dog. Marriage has a definition, and this union does not meet that definition. I support their right to be together (although I happen to believe homosexual behavior is wrong personally) and I wish them well– but they are not "married."

He's not really married. I don't care what state officially recognizes it. Unless it is one man/one woman, he will never REALLY be 'married'. You can make a law that says a cat is a dog. It's not going to stop it from meowing. These types of laws are only designed to make people feel good about themselves. Hell, even if he were considered 'married' where he is, let him come to my state. He's not considered 'married' here or approx. 30 others. Nope, sorry. Thanks for playing.
There have been 33 out of 51 states in USA, who have banned this practice of homosexual marriage, President Obama said that the states should decide. Unfortunately, the people of Massachusetts think that the biblical town of Sodom and Gomorrah does not exists. It is one place where the bottom soil is on top and top soil is on the bottom layers of earth with overheated burned rock samples. –as it was turned over and burned (goggle the geology)
