(CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden called campaign donors to action on Saturday, warning them that Mitt Romney's campaign was out-raising the president's reelection effort.
"Building this campaign today is more important than it was a few days ago," he wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "We can still win even while getting outraised by these guys. But we've got to keep it close."

Romney and his allies brought in over $100 million in June, sources said on Thursday.
President Barack Obama's reelection campaign has not yet released June numbers - and is not required to do so until later this month. But if the Democrats' haul is less than Romney's, it would be the second straight month he was out-raised by the Republican.
In May, Romney and allies brought in $77 million, with Obama and his allies raising $60 million.
Obama campaign officials predicted at a background briefing with reporters in June that they would be outspent by the Republican effort this year.
Biden's e-mail - bearing the subject line "A big problem right now" - came the day after Obama campaign manager Jim Messina sent a message to supporters titled "Urgent."
"If we don't take this seriously now, we risk finding ourselves at a point where there is too much ground to make up," he wrote. "We need to do something about it."
Messina also referenced the fundraising of Republican super PACs, including those organized and backed, he said, by "the Koch brothers, Sheldon Adelson, Karl Rove, and anonymous billionaires."
Super PACs raise and spend their funds separate from campaigns.
On the campaign trail Friday, Obama gave supporters a preview of the remaining months to the November election, when the campaigns and super PACs on both sides of the aisle are expected to spend heavily from their massive bank accounts.
"Over the next four months, you will be bombarded with more negative ads," he said in Poland, Ohio. "You've got these super PACs, millionaires, billionaires writing $10 million checks, just pouring - raining down on my head."
Someone in the audience shouted, "It's all right."
"It is all right," Obama replied, "I'm skinny, but I'm tough."

They have all his pathetic pleas for cash and support at americasopinion.com. They also have the article about the pastors of the AME church asking 100,000 of their BLACK followers to vote against Oblamer.
Why can't Romney release last year's tax return and why not go back and release 10 years tax returns? What doe he hide? Why didn't Congress pass the American Jobs Act . That single failure of Congress has hurt so many Ameriican families. They are the traitors to the American people.
Oh pitiful me. You are skinny. You are tough. And the worst leader in American history. It just takes a lot of money to catch up with the unions.
President Obama – Millions of people giving him hundreds of dollars to get re-elected.
Governor Romney – Hundreds of people giving him millions of dollars to get elected.
Democrats just a few months ago were all giddy about Hussein Obama raising $1 Billion for his campaign. Why is it no big deal now? Because Hussein isn't the one raising the big money.
Hussein is history.
The political fundraising has a BIG plus side to it – it's a great jobs program! Think of how many jobs will be created by spending all that money! On the other hand, think of all the better ways to spend those millions of dollars... heck, we could make a real dent in paying down our national debt!
How about your introduce limits on spending.
Frankly obama has not done enough on wall street, civil liberties or drone strikes to warrant 100 million in donations from the middle class
Obama's message is weak. More of the same that hasn't worked in the last 3 1/2 years? Don't expect people to open up their wallets for that. Just enjoy your last 6 months in Washington, Joe. And then enjoy your retirement.
I really don't care if the rich want to vote but I'm sick of them trying to buy our government. Govt needs to limit the amount of campaign contributions to $1,000 per person.
If Obama can't defeat Romney from his position as president then he doesn't deserve to be re-elected.
It's alright Mr. President, they can't buy our vote. FORWARD, Mr. President, FORWARD.
Willard should have no problem with funds. All he has to do is cash in his Cayman Island and Swiss accounts. If he must he can also call up the planet kolob and get money from the mormons there.
Perhaps the problem is that people have read, researched and are not happy with the contradictions of President Obama's attacks on Romney. Take for example Obama's attack on outsourcing/offshoring jobs on Romney, all the while Obama fails to explain why he was okay asking/having Diana Farrell of McKinsey & Co. serve on the United States National Economic Counsel when she is the queen, an advocate of outsourcing/offshoring jobs. Just read Offshoring- Understanding the Emerging Global Labor Market by McKinsey Global Institute by Diana Farrell, Harvard Business School Press. Diana Farrell believes that is it wrong to regulate offshoring, a mistake. Diana Farrell also states that offshoring can be positive for all societies that participate in it. Or read the article in the New York Times "Business; Who Wins and Who Loses as Jobs Move Overseas?" Dec 7, 2003 by Erika Kinetz. Obama contradicts himself a lot and he under estimates people. People don't like contradictions nor partial answers and Obama is good at it and so are most Democrats.
For every $25 I donate – a millionaire is donated $1,000,000 for R-Money!!! How can you go against those odds?
Obama 2012 – The Only Trusted Way Forward!!
He did the same against his opponents during primaries but guess what! Santorum waxed stronger than him on most primaries. We r going to beat Romney including Koch brothers so don't worry President Obama.
It looks like we are going to let the rich buy this election!
Most People disagree with the very political Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United and see it as a threat to the democracy of our elections. On top of that we have the Republican states with their voter suppression laws. Republicans can spend every penny they have but it will not buy our votes. We have watched Republicans in the House and Senate obstruct every piece of legislation for jobs, economic recovery, and be so full of hate they let our nation's credit rating be downgraded just to "win". We have seen Republicans are corporate puppets who care nothing about We the People and now they want us to vote for them? They want us to vote for Romney when he refuses to even take a position on any issue and only tells lies about President Obama. He can't even tell the truth about his own life when we have video of him saying the opposite. Money may allow more them more negative false ads but it will not win our trust, change our knowledge of how Republicans have betrayed us, nor how how hard President Obama has worked to clean up the Republican mess and move America forward. I stand with my President. No amount of money will change that.
Governor Romney's friends have deep pockets. They are also contributing gobs to the PACs supporting Romney. The amount of money being amassed is outrageous particularly when you realize how many children go hungry every day, how many young men and women can not afford college tuitions, how many summer programs for kids are underfunded, how many businesses are holding back before hiring, how many people have lost their health care, etc. There is no incentive to do better. Only the idea to do everything possible to deny President Obama a second term.
Worst attack ever made. How about issues that should be done other than money be fought on?
Dewy raised more money than Truman but Truman won. Alexithymic Mitt can raise all the money he wants for all the good he THINKS it will do him.
Wonder if the Supreme Court feels that this is how elections should be influenced....anyone with a few hundred million can buy the election!!!
Just made a donation to Obama campaign. Can not let the repubs try to "lie and buy" this election
Out of presdient obama 2012
One can only hope that for the next election circle the “money-game” can be stopped! It makes any election a farce, an insult, and endangers DEMOCRACY if power can be bought by the highest bidder!
correction... has donated...
