(CNN) – President Barack Obama's re-election campaign announced Monday that it, along with the Democratic National Committee, raised $71 million in June from more than 706,000 donors.
The amount lags far behind the $106 million Mitt Romney and the Republican National Committee raised last month, a number the campaign made official early Monday.

However, Obama's campaign last month predicted it would be out-raised by Romney's campaign and noted in an email to supporters Monday that the month of June still proved to be the campaign's "best month of this election so far."
"But we still got beat - and not by a little bit," Ann Marie Habershaw, chief operating officer for Obama for America, said in the email. "If we lose this election, it will be because we didn't close the gap enough when we had the chance."
According to the campaign, more than 706,000 people donated in June, with more than 181,000 of them contributing for the first time.
More than 98% of contributions last month were less than $250, with the average donation coming in at $52.54.
Romney's campaign, meanwhile, said Monday that 94% of their contributions were $250 or less, adding up to $22.3 million, which is just over a fifth of all money Romney raised in June.
In May, the combined efforts between the Obama campaign and the DNC took in $60 million and had slightly less than $110 million in the bank.
While Team Obama did not acknowledge Monday how much money the campaign has in the bank, Romney's campaign announced it finished June with $160 million cash on hand.

Millions shmillions. The huge donations and spending from industry giants like Walmart et al will just end up being paid by the rest of us anyway. That's what happens when whole industries sit on record amounts of capital in order to extend a recession and keep unemployment high and people broke in order to attenuate the fundraising of someone they see as a threat to their stranglehold on a nation's wealth and governance.

Funny how so many are upset with Romney for out raising President Obama, they were most likely the ones cheering when Obama out raised McCain in 2008.
Good thing Obama gets the "family discount" when it comes to media advertising.
It appears that Fox foreign owned media did not report to their wingnut viewers that our president honored people in the oval office on July 4th, not France.

Obama's problem is that failure isn't selling and people aren't stupid. Hope & Change is now Changing the Subject from his record. Naive people gave the inexperienced community organizer a chance and he has proven himself to be WAY over his head. He has ZERO leadership ability. He has shown ZERO willingness to work with Republicans and has gone to the class warfare well over and over and over. He is the ultimate divider when this country needs to be united to save it.
People sending Obama money are investing in the destruction of the USA. Four more years of this disaster-in-chief and the country is doomed. He out there trying to tell us 8.2% (really more like 14-15%) unemployement is just fine. He's just doesn't have a clue, even after 4 years in office. It appears he already knows everything and doesn't have a need to learn.

We've all seen the pictures of Tea Party rallies and know they are going back to their double-wides and cutting $20,000 checks. They hit the dipstick double, voting AGAINST both their own AND the country's best interest at the same time.
