Less than four months after undergoing a heart transplant, the former vice president looked "hale and hearty in an open-collared pink shirt," according to a reporter who was allowed to cover the event on behalf of other media organizations,
When he introduced Romney, Cheney referred to the terrorist attacks on 9/11 that occurred during the Bush administration as the type of event a president can never be prepared for but tests their character.
"You go through the campaigns and study the history books and talk to the experts. Sooner or later there is going to be a big surprise. Usually a very unpleasant one," he told hundreds gathered under a white tent on a driving range of an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course.
Cheney added, "And thats when you really find out what kind of leader your president is and I'm convinced that in addition to all of these other qualifications that you all know about, when I think about the kind of individual I want in the Oval Office in that moment of crisis, who has to make those key decisions, some of them life and death decisions, some of them decisions as the commander in chief who has the responsibility of sending our young men and women into harm's way - that man is Mitt Romney."
Romney praised Cheney for his decades of service in Washington at the reception, which was open to a handful of reporters. No cameras were allowed at the event.
"How many years he could have spent here fly fishing and hunting and just enjoying the beauty," Romney said. "Instead he went back to Washington and served year after year after year - and not always in ways that achieved a lot of visibility and at times when he achieved visibility, sometimes not the visibility he wanted. But in each case put his country foremost in his life, and to do that and to bring up a family in that setting is something which I respect and admire and this is a great American leader and I appreciate the fact that Wyoming was willing to give him to the United States of America.”

Remember that guy who declared “deficits don't matter”? That was the old Dick Cheney.
1999, Dick Cheney, CEO of Halliburton (later, Vice President) ... "Just wage a total war against these tyrants; I think we will do very well and I think it will go relatively quickly, . ... "There's a lot of money to pay for this , the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion.
V.P. Dick Cheney, ... 2003: The Iraq occupation will last weeks rather than months.
Dick Cheney is making the rounds to promote waterboarding isn't torture.
This makes me ill reading this , frustrated , and angry .
There will never be true freedom , unless there is true justice !
Yep, the fine folks who ran this country into the ground coming out of their caves to help the cronies buy the election. Sad, I hope people don't fall for this BS. There no hope for the right wing radio/fox crowd, that well is poisned but people with common sense have to understand that it takes a lot longer to fix something that was as messed up as when these guys left office. 800K jobs being lost, Epic Housing Crash, Epic Financial Crash, Auto Industry Dies & More no one could of fixed it in three years and if not for the 24/7 Attack channels on the President you would realize he did a good job and your taxes are at a 3o year low. Mr. Chaney go back into your Cave, even George Bush realized the damage you did and gave you a stiff arm in his second term
All of Mitt supporters stand secretly to hurt the middle class. Koch bros. owns Georgia Pacific which has layed off thousands of workers since 2009. If they are the job creators that the GOP wants to protect so bad, why the layoffs?
Adolph Cheney,Rove and the Koch boys are wasting their time and money on Mitt(I have nothing to offer)McCain. Watch Neb this weekend.
Excuse me while I go throw -up. BTW-– it's 3 o'clock in the morning-–Barack Obama will be there , not Romney.
You can have both of them ,I guess you can see who will be pulling the strings ,rove, cheney and armey from freedom works and tom delay ,the old bush advisors who got us into this mess ,no thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!romney the clown is going down in flames faster and faster as the republican from the bush administraion come out of the closet .
Hey Mitt, mayby Dick can give you some help in finding a good VP.
From the heartless (oh, wait he does have one) to the clueless... Isn't it nice to have groups get together. In this case, it is the wealthy to the weathly.
Romney , the vulture, and Cheney, the waterboarder, team up -Is Cheney afraid Mitt would prosecute him for war crimes like he richly deserves-NO-Having Cheney endorse you is the kiss of death
Romney = Bush/Cheney
Unfortunately, it's the same disastrous economic policies that disproportionately favor the uber rich & horrible neo-con foreign policies that cause so many problems. No thanks.
Cheney: "Dance, puppet, daaaaaance!"
In other words...lets see how much money we can raise to give to Gerald Levin, CEO and Director of AOL Time Warner
Michael Eisner, Chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company
Edgar Bronfman, Sr., Chairman of Seagram Company Ltd
Edgar Bronfman, Jr, President and CEO of Seagram Company Ltd and head of Universal Studios
Sumner Redstone, Chairman and CEO of Viacom, Inc
Dennis Dammerman, Vice Chairman of General Electric
Peter Chernin, President and Co-COO of News Corporation Limited
Those seven Jewish men collectively control ABC, NBC, CBS, the Turner Broadcasting System, CNN, MTV, Universal Studios, MCA Records, Geffen Records, DGC Records, GRP Records, Rising Tide Records, Curb/Universal Records, and Interscope Records....and FOX
Looking good, Mr. VP... thanks for helping Mitt raise some cash to counter the lies of the left.
Im thankful my current president will give everyone Dick Cheney medical insurance, and not just the rich only.
Mr. Potter from "It's A Wonderful Life" lives. I swear it is him.
Cheney probably the single most affective force that brought the American economy to its knees is at it again. leave this nation and the earth in guys like this hand, and life on earth wont last another 30 years, this will be the real amagedin. all these guys wants to do is take tax payer money and push it to their rich friends the create free trade agreement all around the globe, so they can take American jobs and give it to countries without regulations and dirt cheap labor force, and leave the American middle class and working class to fend for themselves. I wonder how these folks will feel when their is no Obama to save them again.
"You go through the campaigns and study the history books and talk to the experts. Sooner or later there is going to be a big surprise" "And that's when you really find out what kind of leader your president is..."
Yep, a president that lowered taxes during the time he starts two war – one unjustified – and as a result, he caused the mess that we're in today – And then you have the Republicans running around claiming they want to go back to those times in order to repeat what Bush did in the first place..............GIVE ME A BREAK!
Cheney's young heart may be ticking but his brain is OLD!!!
Obama 2012 – The Only Trusted Way Forward!!
This is what I call crooks galore to raise money from every one and give to the rich.
This is a re-mix of the Bush Years..............Romney going back to old ways and old ideas. Next there will be another WAR fooling around with Romney. A vote for Romney is a vote for Bush........War..........big business
with the iraq war loot (halliburton) cheney has, romney should do well
Wow. He finally let ONE reporter in and they described the fashion. That's deep investigative journalism there. And of course, Cheney HAD to say "9/11" because that is all that administration knew how to say when caught in a tight situation.. Haliburton was probably a big donor in exchange for the promise of non-compete contracts again.
So the former VP state, “And that’s when you really find out what kind of leader your president is…” regarding how a leader responds to crisis, specifically 09/11. I am curious about how he feels reading My Pet Goat to school children was an appropriate response.
Gov. Romney said, “I appreciate the fact that Wyoming was willing to give him to the United States of America.” I appreciate that they were willing to take him back. Now please keep him and don’t let him shoot anyone else in the face.
Cheney! Really!!!!??? This guy together with bush turned the country upside down.he's the last person any politician wants to be seen with and he got the nerves to talk about the kind of person he would like to see in the oval office.seriously!!!????
In other words, two of the biggest liars in politics come together to collect money. Nice.
