Boehner team touts $80 million raised this cycle

(CNN) – Republican House Speaker John Boehner has helped pull in nearly $80 million since assuming his post in 2010, his political team announced Sunday.

In total, Boehner's has raised $79,220,330 through his political committees, along with the National Republican Congressional Committee and events held by Republican members of Congress at events the House speaker headlined. Boehner's team said he had headlined more than 100 such events.

According to Sunday's release, Boehner pulled in $8.3 million for his various political committees in the second quarter of 2012, and transferred $20 million from his committees to the NRCC.

“Millions of Americans continue to struggle in the Obama economy, and they are looking to Speaker Boehner and House Republicans to keep fighting to create a better environment for jobs by preventing tax hikes, repealing ObamaCare, cutting spending and eliminating excessive federal red tape," Boehner spokesman Cory Fritz wrote in a statement. "Speaker Boehner appreciates the support he’s received from across the country, and he’ll continue working tirelessly to return the conservative House majority that’s focused on jobs and the economy.”

CNN Senior Congressional Producer Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

Not one nickle from this conservative, because you aligned yourself with Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the likes of them!

I truly hope that you, tea partiers and you puesdo-conservatives get your tails handed to you in November.

Maybe if he focused on JOBS with the same amount of ambition he throws into fundraising, we might have some workable bills presented.

Im glad you have your priorities straight Mr. Speaker. I would hate to see that impressive number drop if you were wasting time, I dont know, maybe doing the peoples business and finding solutions to the many problems we face here at home and abroad. So you must be saying no to your employers and yes to the few millionaires who donate obscene amounts of money because its the only way to win. You cant win on your record. How much have you benefited personally since you have been speaker? Shame shame, its not the Tea Party way Mr Speaker!

Best damn right wing politician money can buy! Only $80 million, and he protects the tax cuts for the wealthy, which haven't produced job growth and never will, cuts spending for all programs that protect the heath and welfare of anybody who isn't rich, but won't touch DOD pork, and will woek tirelessly to eliminate the pesky offshore drilling regulations that BP, Transocean, & Halliburton ignore anyway. The only job he's focused on is insuring Obama fails.

This is obscene any more. We need to get this kind of money out of politics. Guys like Boehner are no use in Washington anymore. But yet they keep getting elected and then they do nothing. Here's a guy who whines about the President campaigning and raising money and he is no better. Politics is dead and it was killed by money.

Raise all the money you want Mr Umpa Lumpa, it wont matter. The American People are NOT going to let you "lie and buy" this election. Especially with an approval rating of 13% for congress. sooo go cry a river when you are voted out.

Trust me struggling Americans didn't give this clown 80 Million dollars, the same people who paid for the deregulation of America are giving the RNC a war chest for another Go. Decades of Horrible leadership led t this and you can expect another catastrophic outcome if we give these guys another shot

Does Congressman Boehner ever have time to do his job or is he a professional fund raiser on a government salary? He seems more proud of raising money than finding solutions to the countries ills.

Back when Democrats had the majority in Congress, one point Republicans hammered at again and again, was Congress' low approval ratings in the 30.s,. The GOP would point at it and say, see, there is undeniable proof of what a bad job the Democrats are doing and how disconnected they are with the people.

But since the Republicans swept the 2010, the approval rating of Congress has taken a nose dive. They are polling in the single digits. Since the GOP gained the majority backed by the Tea Party, this has become the most universally despised and completely useless Congress in history. In the past two years their only accomplishments have been to name a few government buildings, declare pizza a vegetable, and get the country's credit rating downgraded. In 2010, the Republicans ran on a platform of "Jobs, jobs, jobs!" but since being voted in, they have proposed hundreds of bills that involve abortion, contraceptives, gay marriage, tax cuts for the rich, deregulating Wall Street, and allowing corporations to pollute as much as they want – but not a single jobs bill!

And these knuckleheads actually believe they should not only get re-elected, but that the American people should elect even more Republicans so they can completely control Washington?
