Hillary Clinton: Romney ads featuring her a 'waste of money'

(CNN) – She's been featured in two negative television ads from Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, but Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday the spots would have little effect on voters who already know the story of the 2008 Democratic primaries.

Speaking in Jerusalem at the tail end of a two week diplomatic trip, Clinton said in an interview with CNN Foreign Affairs Reporter Elise Labott the spots were a "waste of money."

"I am out of politics, and I haven't seen any of the ads that you're talking about," Clinton said. "But I have to say it's a waste of money. Everybody knows I ran against President Obama in 2008, that's hardly news. Everybody knows we ran a hard fought campaign and he won. And I have been honored to serve as his secretary of state."

Romney, engaged in a heated battle with Obama for the White House, has released two spots featuring Clinton from her 2008 Democratic primary battle with the then-Illinois senator. The first ad, released at the end of June, uses video of Clinton campaigning against candidate Obama in Cincinnati ahead of the 2008 Ohio primary.

Clinton accused Obama of "blatantly false" attacks against her in campaign mailers, which Romney used to highlight a fact check by the Washington Post calling one of Obama's current ads "misleading, unfair and untrue."

A second Romney spot, released last week, responds to one of Obama's latest slams that claims Romney's former private equity firm, Bain Capital, in part specialized in advising companies on 'outsourcing.'

The new ad recycles a quote from then-Sen. Hillary Clinton in 2008, when Clinton fired off on Obama over her opponent's latest round of blows.

"Shame on you, Barack Obama," Clinton says in the clip.

Romney is so desperate and confused now until he's talking about Sen. John Kerry's tax returns and he ain't running from or for anything. Romney doesn't want to talk about the economy, as he'd like, because he knows those tax returns and talking about the economy in the same breath would be like a suicide mission. Where's your tax returns Mr. Romney, we're not interested in Hillary not unless you want us to run Gingrich, Santorum, Bachmann, Perry and Paul's ads.

Mitt Romney is bought and paid for by the Rove puppets and a few big spenders who do not answer to the American people or have any interest in anyone or anything other than getting richer themselves. They own him. Honorable candidates for president do not have millions stashed in the Caymans and Switzerland. If we elect their paper puppet, we get what we deserve. Disaster. Regardless of what you think of Obama, at least he is a decent man and stands on his own.

Not waste of money. This guy is getting so much money from KOCH, Adelson etc.. That he does not want to do with it. So he got to spend it on something to justify them giving more to him.

SOS Clinton: you are one classy lady and one of my heroines. You go, SOS.

Oh, for the GOP dim bulbs: SOS is Secretary of State.

    Obama only had Hillary.

Romney has juicy video clips from Gingrich, Santorum, Rick Perry and Michelle Bachmann.

And from just a few months ago, not almost 4 years ago.

@Angel, what he is hiding is the enormous amount of money he made while NOT working at Bain. And also that he probably paid no taxes on it either. Of course the Republicans would rather flush money down the toilet on silly ads than pay anything in taxes that might benefit the country.

"I have been saying this and I will say it again. Mitt Romney is absolutely the worst Republican ever to be nominated for the office of the President" Rick Santorum.

Why is it a waste of money ? It is very valid to note that under Obama and Hillary the whole World is on fire.
How many of these needless killings are they responsible for ? The 2nd worst SOS in the last 40 years.

Angel- What's Obama hiding? He spent millions of dollars hiding his past...Even his college records. No one has ever come forward and spoke of being a classmate of Obama or ever hearing of him.

I saw that advert, it was pure unadulterated comedy.
I think the voice over actor is the same person who does NASCAR promos.
Way to win over the Cross Burners and Bible Cowards.
Granted, you already have their vote, but thanks for the laughs, Romney campaign.

Romney is a poor loser. He wants an apology for everything. Well you rich beyond your means fellow, how about forking over lots of tax returns to show us where all your ill gotten gains are? I say ill gotten because you destroyed jobs, destroyed lives, destroyed towns and cities, just so you can say you are a rich person. To hell with you, you classless individual.

All of these campaign ads and attacks from both sides are a waste of money.

The only thing that matters is the economy. If the economy continues to sputter through October, which it probably will, then the race will be very close and Romney has a chance. If the economy shows real signs of a solid recovery in the next couple of months, then Obama will win big.

That being said, go ahead and waste the money. It was donated by the uber-rich who want it spent, so spend it.

Romney dosent deserve the RNC nomination. Everyone knows that. Obama didn't deserve his nomination either. It's ALL a waste of money. Millions of dollars spent on two of the biggest clowns in history of American presidential races. It's disgusting and shameful to see this is the best that our super pac political system can offer. Do we vote for doom or just disaster? give me a break.

Wow. Poor Romney. People give him a tiny taste of his own medicine and he breaks down into 4 year old girl mode. Maybe he and Boehner can go and cry in a corner together.

In the background was reportedly Mitt Romney's campaign headquarters, which was an outdoor outhouse.

And marked on one of the inside walls of the Romney outhouse were the words, "for a good time call Sarah Palin", which was scratched out, then the words "Kristi Noem" were scratched out, then the third line had written, "Ann Romney" with a, good time, contact number of 1-800-OutSource.

Romney is such a funny guy.. Using Clinton from 2008, refusing to release his tax returns since he doesn't really PAY any taxes, and according to SprayTan Johnny B, even his own party doesn't find him likeable.

Although it's one of those GOP things that winning, even by lying and cheating is acceptable, so who knows what they'll do next.
