Boehner says president 'doesn't give a damn about the middle class Americans'

(CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner has recently stepped up criticism of President Barack Obama, but his comments Wednesday were particularly harsh, saying the president "doesn't give a damn about the middle class Americans who are out there looking for work."

"What he's trying to do is distract the American people in order to win his own reelection," Boehner asserted.

The House speaker pushed back on calls for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to release more tax returns, calling the issue a "sideshow" Democrats designed to draw people's attention away from the president's handling of the economy.

"The American people are asking where are the jobs? They're not asking where in the hell the tax returns are," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill.

But when the speaker was pressed that some Republicans, including some in the House, are also urging Romney to release more financial information, Boehner brushed it off, insisting, "It's not about the tax returns, it's about the economy. The American people vote with their wallets."

Boehner and the GOP folks in Congress and Senate do not give a damn of the middle class. Remember, early years, Boehner gave out checks to his party on the floor of the house. Those checks are from the corporate donors who try to buy the congress to be in their favor. $$ Money is the problem to democracy. Greed is the human nature we always see in US government. Boehner, Pleeeeeeeesase STOP the lies and focuses on JOBS, JOBS & JOBS.

Anything to deflect from Mitt's tax returns, eh John? Cussing? "Shiny object" distraction isn't working, so you're resorting to obvious lies and cursing for attention? Shameful...

I mean, how bad could Mitt's tax returns be, that he won't disclose them and he's got you doing such things? Does he have a second wife listed as a dependent? Would his lies be made clear to all? Inquiring minds want to know...

The tool of the rich is complaining about Obama's record! The Republican led House since 2011 have done nothing for the middle class. No jobs programs which the Republicans promised in the run up to the 2010 elections. This is just too funny.

And John Boehner does. He shows how much he gives a damn by sitting on his hands and obstructing any type of meaningful legislation. He simply gives way to the radical wing of the republican party, and deference to Grover Norquist no tax pledge. This ineffectual and bumbling "Speaker of the House" can't marshall the troops to pass measures that he supports. Idiot, childish, hick, getting rich at the tax payer's expense. Just take a look @ his stock portfolio–filled with equities in which he influences legislation–simply old, white male greed hipocrissy at it's best.

  9. You're In a Place to Do Something About It

I have never seen so many whining Republicans in all my life, like cursing, and whining, and crying about the opposition is going to prove anything. You're proving his point, not yours.

Mr. Squeaker of the House, it looks to me like you are in a place to do something about it and either put up or shut up. Since laws start in the House, you could actually do something instead of blaming him for your inaction. Start doing your job and stop whining.

@Michael B: "@Aknova, he pays all the taxes he's required on investment income. 15%."

Seeing as Romney has not agreed to release his pre-2010 tax returns, then how the heck would you know that? My guess is that before 2010 he did not pay the full 15% and this is why he is being stubborn about his tax returns.

@Sniffit – "The GOP won the House back in 2010 promising Jobs, Jobs and more Jobs. They have not delivered on their promise." In fact, they haven't even tried.

Not only have they not tried, they have done everything they can to get in the way because their number one goal is to make Obama a one term president. They are gleeful when the jobs numbers are bad – and they call themselves Americans. They disgust me.

It was never the government's job to provide for welfare or charity for the people. The U.S. Constutition never gave the congress the power to collect and disburse money in most cases. The Citizen had the right to go to school, graduate and then get a job. The Welfare State (Nanny State) was and is an invention or the liberal's. If these programs had a sunset provision they may be ok but the never ending entitlement society thinks they have a right to stay on welfare and entitlements forever.

The prognostations aren't good. Now all the tax cuts and social security cuts are set to expire at the end of the year. The liberal's are running around like chicken llittle screaming what do we do??? The bottom is about to drop out and too many of you don't know why. Well, over the last 75 years, people voted for it. Now it's here.

Obama wants the rich people to pay for it. The rich people are out of money, all spent by the liberals to the tune of a 16 Trillion dollar debt. Where are the jobs?? Obama Care killed them. It's amazing of how many people want their cake and eat it too. If you want to be sucessful, get off your *** and book you own life. it is the only way you will be sucessful.

    @Darrell

The GOP won the House back in 2010 promising Jobs, Jobs
and more Jobs. They have not delivered on their promise.
In fact they passed more anti-abortion and anti-health
    care bills than jobs bills.
    -----------------
Maybe because your boy Harry Reid won't even walk a Republican jobs proposal from his desk into the Senate chamber. At least the house actually VOTES on Dem proposals. Old Harry just stamps his feet, screams "no. no, no", and throws it in the trash. Stop blaming the Republicans. The Dems are equally responsible.

yep in the meantime the GOP keeps voting against the Desclosure Act and raising taxes on the 1% something current polling shows a majority of Americans across the board favor. Sorry John but although some are, MOST of us are NOT that stupid to agree with your statement.

Indeed. If you look at graphical representations of the economy showing the speed of recovery and then compare the timeline to things like the GOP/Teatrolls threatening to default on the national debt or defund the gov't and cause a shutdown, you can very readilyl see that the "debt debacle" and other hostage-taking situations that the GOP/Teatrolls crowed proudly for creating had a demonstrable, verifiable and undeniable slowing/dilatory effect on the recovery. Anyone with half a brain would recognize that such manufactured crises...generally instigated by the GOP/Teatrolls tacking on unrelated ideological demands to important legislation...would have such an effect. There can be only one conclusion drawn from the evidence: THEY DID IT ON PURPOSE TO DELAY RECOVERY. History text books are going to shove that down their throats in the years to come.

If you are not a far left liberal, Barack Obama thinks you are his enemy and you should be punished. His exact words from his interview on Univision in 2010.

Why would a pesident say such a thing? Read the words of or listen to a Democrat, appealing to his base, they all, everyone of 'dem want to at the very least harm their neighbors and their children if they don't support liberalism.
