Boehner says president 'doesn't give a damn about the middle class Americans'

(CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner has recently stepped up criticism of President Barack Obama, but his comments Wednesday were particularly harsh, saying the president "doesn't give a damn about the middle class Americans who are out there looking for work."

"What he's trying to do is distract the American people in order to win his own reelection," Boehner asserted.

The House speaker pushed back on calls for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to release more tax returns, calling the issue a "sideshow" Democrats designed to draw people's attention away from the president's handling of the economy.

"The American people are asking where are the jobs? They're not asking where in the hell the tax returns are," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill.

But when the speaker was pressed that some Republicans, including some in the House, are also urging Romney to release more financial information, Boehner brushed it off, insisting, "It's not about the tax returns, it's about the economy. The American people vote with their wallets."

The President doesn't give a damn about the middle class????? Gimme a break!! It's a fact that the repubs have done absolutely NOTHING but OBSTRUCT from day one everything the President and Democrats have proposed to get Americans back to work. And Boehner has the audacity to blame President Obama for the unemployment rate. He needs to look in the mirror along with his tea party cronies and wealthy lobbyists as the blame for the lack of jobs.

I surely hope the American people will see thru their charade and kick all of them out of office because they more than deserve it. Their behavior has been disgusting and shameful!!!

One more news flash: Mr. Obama (and many other Democrats) are also in the 1%. If being wealthy had been criteria for
NOT electing a President, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy,
all would never have been elected. I guess we'd have a different looking Mt. Rushmore, eh?

The House has passed a lot of jobs bills, actually. Well, alleged jobs bills that were overloaded with partisan baggage, like making the W tax cuts permanent, banning abortion, closing down the EPA, etc. The purpose of each of these bills was to make the democrats in the senate publicly "vote against a jobs bill". Pure-T politics, and Reid has treated their nonsense like it deserves, by burying it. At no point has the GOP tried to pass a serious, bi-partisan jobs bill.

This is REALLY NOT "new" news. That has been HIS "modus operandi" even before he fooled the American people and was sworn in as president.

Mr. Boehner, I am not a Republican, but thank you for highlighting IT again! What surprises me most is that the American middle class continues to believe the lies spewed by the clueless Mr. Obama and his equally clueless administration.

I am guessing some Americans may want (are content with) four more years of lies, smoke and mirrors, and divisiveness.

    Oh well...

OK, lets prove who cares about the economy. Someone bring both the Infrastructure Bank and Simpson Bowles to the floor. Do them both at the same time, jobs, tax reform, debt reduction. You know the Grand Deal.

Don't hold your breath cause the GOP won't take the chance that the DEM will step up to the plate and prove that they car about the country more than the power.

Rethugs true colors are beginning to show more and more as the realisation that they have wasted the last two years by doing absolutely nothing is now coming home to roost.....Thinking Americans are having none of it!!! The hate showes throughout these so called leaders and what we see are small minded little people confused as to how they are left so exposed . Their hate and arrogance has consumed them.

The leftylibdem lunatic asylum has emptied the rooms and let the patients on the street with their blogging devices. They are are motley bunch, unable to control their emotions, primarily anger and hate, and suffer from serious sensory delusions and visions of grandeur. Example: rather have Hitler than Boener as Speaker – so Ohio's 8th District is full of Nazis? Pathetic. A moniker of JCSuperStar? Vintage Hollywood massive ego. Unable to grasp Boehner's point of the huge suffering of the middle class during BO's administration, the po'd leftylibdems fumigate and curse. Pity, pity.

Why don't you try working harder and less typing unsubstantiated facts on this Board. I'm willing to guarantee your business (IF that's true) would grow and you would have to give the president credit for that success.

Oh the irony coming from a damn obstructionist who is nothing but a lackey for his wealthy corporate masters. Pass the jobs bill, Mr. Weeper, pass the tax bill for ONLY the middle class right now since you care about them so much; take away the "uncertainty" that they will face. Just try to do something for "the American people" before handing the gavel back in Jan 2013. No worries Bonehead, you'll have more time for scotch when you're no longer Weeper of the House.

I am not so enamored with Democrats, but Boehner is a real joke. Trickle down economy is a fantasy. The middle-class is being burdened with taxes. You could raise the tax rate to 90% for wealthy people and they would still pay less than 10% of their income in taxes. Poor people are given many breaks especially in the form of the earned income tax credit. In the name of making work pay, poor people are given money they did not earn. I want a FLAT TAX. Everyone pays the same percentage of their income 15%, 20% whatever is deemed acceptable. There would be NO DEDUCTIONS NOR TAX CREDITS. That is the only fair way. If a couple with children earned $60,000 and a couple without children earned $60,000 then they both would pay the same tax. Having children is a personal choice and you should not pay less in taxes than someone else making the same money just because you have children. If you made the same money as some one else and you made investments such as a house and/or stocks then you should pay the same tax. Tax fairness across for everyone.

And Boehner and the Repubs care about the middle class? Every piece of legislation they've introduced or opposed has been for one single issue....making sure that the rich don't pay taxes.

You gotta be kdding!!! Reid is more partisan than Boehner . . . and readily slanders anyone who disagrees with
his agenda. There is EQUAL blame to go around in our dis-functional government, and unless we all assess both
parties as "culpable" there's not going to be "change" or "hope" for ANYONE.

"The American people are asking where are the jobs? They're not asking where in the hell the tax returns are," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill."

Didn't Boehner promise the middle class jobs if The People made him House Speaker back in 2010? The People made him Speaker and what did he deliver? He delivered radical right wing social engineering, that's what he delivered.

Didn't Boehner lead the Tea Party Caucus in the House Xmas 2010 to fight against a middle class tax cut?

Didn't Boehener lead the way for the incoming Tea Party freshmen in House Xmas 2011, holding the middle class tax cut hostage for a tax cut for the top 1%?

If its such a distraction Mr. Speaker, why doesn't Romney end it and release the taxes. If he can't be the man his father was he could at least release a full Presidential term's worth. Two years? He's not running for Congress.
