McCain refutes accusations by fellow Republicans about Hillary Clinton aide

(CNN) - Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain took to the Senate floor Wednesday to criticize fellow Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann and four other Republican members of Congress about their request that various agencies investigate whether the government has been infiltrated by Muslim extremists.

Bachmann is joined in her request by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Trent Franks (R-Arizona), Rep. Thomas Rooney (R-Florida) and Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-Georgia).

It now seems, my fellow Americans, that most of the GOP has simply lost its collective mind. They are lead by liars and frauds, and crazy people (like Ms. Bachmann). This isn't about winning elections anymore, it is about saving our country. The insanity of the GOP tells me that our nation's salvation is not in their party.

I guess Mr. McCain is slowly finding his moral compass again after he pretty much sold his soul to the devil in 2008. I still disagree with him on numerous subjects, but I give him credit for (FINALLY) standing up and calling out these ignorant, bigoted Congressional freeloaders on the very floor of the building they shouldn't be allowed to sully.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) – RACIST
    Trent Franks (R-AZ) – RACIST
Rep. Thomas Rooney (R-FL) – RACIST
Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) – RACIST

Thank you Sen. McCain for doing the HONORABLE thing and not playing this charade.

Michelle Bachman needs to be removed from office and put in a padded cell.

I'm beginning to think that our representatives need to pass some sort of mental competency test before holding office. Thanks McCain for being a voice of reason.

Michelle Bachmann's biggest claim to fame is that she is a liar, that is what should be at the top of her resume: Professional Liar and Hater. It is a complete shame that a person like Bachamann is getting a pay check from the tax payers for all of her conspiracy theories she has brought forward in the past several years, she needs to be voted out and the sooner she does the safer the country is without people like her.Everything that is wrong with politics has a poster child and Bachmann is that poster child

Much as I disagree with many of McCains statements, I give him credit for standing up to these lunatics. Bachman is just plain crazy, Gohmert and his " terror babies " conspiracy. How can these people even get elected? Thankyou John McCain for trying to put an end to these absurd theories of Bachmans. Maybe the victims of her false accusations should sue her for defamation of character.

How about Bachman ask for an investigation into Grover Norquist. After all, he is married to a practicing
Muslim, and therefore he is a Muslim. As I understand it, he had to convert before he could marry her.
But that's different, I guess, since they kiss his ring and sign his pledges.
How about we 'investigate' West and his accusations that some Democrate Representatives are "communists".
Oh, right, West is a Republican, and as crazy as Bachman.
Thanks Senator McCain, too bad the guy you support for President doesn't have the strength to stand up
    to haters.

I see McCain is going to fight against the Tea Party after that primary challenge threw up in his face. Good for him.

@ IF YOU SIGNED GROVER'S... "RACIST"

I consider myself liberal but I have to call a fail here. Muslims are not part of a race, they are part of a religion.

I think you will get more respect if you actually think before you type. Let's argue with our heads engaged.

OMG! Somebody get that crazy woman and the other four out of office. They are a complete and total embarrassment, as if Congress is not embarrassing enough.

Old John can be pretty loony himself, but every now and then he will stand up for what is right and decent – this being a case in point.

although sometimes he gets on my LAST nerve, John Mccain has always been one of my favorite Republicans because he will sometimes stand up for what is right no matter which party it is. Bachmann and her kind are nutjobs and while some people were always talikng libel and slander in other cases, why not file one HERE? If Bachmann can not prove her claims she ought to be made to PAY for them.

America would be better off if McCAIN's fellow republicans ,those with any sence of dignity,reason,humanity....would join him and denounce these people for what they are...extremists .. you know the people who spend their whole lives telling everyone else how to live while staying locked in their houses afraid the crazy's are coming to get them.
