Ann Romney says 'given all you people need to know' on taxes

(CNN) – Ann Romney stood firmly by her husband's commitment to release only two years of tax returns in an interview airing Thursday, saying the information already disclosed was plenty of transparency for the presumptive GOP nominee.

"There are so many things that will be open again for more attack, and you just give more material for more attack, and that's the answer. We've given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life," Mrs. Romney said on ABC.

"The election, again, will not be decided on that," she continued.

Romney has released his tax return from 2010, and an estimate for his 2011 information. He filed for an extension on submitting his taxes in April, and has vowed to release the full return when his accountant finalized the documents.

Democrats, and some Republicans, have urged Romney to disclose more of his tax information. Democrats say additional returns will clear up questions about offshore accounts and his rate of income tax, while Republicans say it would be politically advantageous to disclose more information.

In the interview airing Thursday, Ann Romney said the information already released showed Romney was a financially generous - and responsible - man.

"You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he's been financially," Mrs. Romney said. "He's a very generous person. We give 10% of our income to our church every year. Do you think that is the kind of person who is trying to hide things, or do things? No. He is so good about it."

The 2011 tax estimate released in January showed the Romneys gave $2.6 million to their church last year, more than 12% of the roughly $21 million they earned. The Romneys also gave $1.4 million last year in cash and stock to their family foundation, which heavily supports the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In 2010, the other year for which the Romneys released a federal tax return, they gave $1.5 million to the LDS church, 7% of their earnings, plus $900,000 to their family foundation, called the Tyler Foundation.

The Tyler Foundation gave $145,000 to the LDS church in 2010, so the Romneys' church donations average out to 10% over the last two years.

CNN's Dan Gilgoff contributed to this report.

There is NOT enough information about your financials you non working wifey you. We know how you live your lives. Fancy lake house in NH, mansion to be rebuilt with car elevators in La Jolla, you and your $77,000 tax deduction Dressage horse, your Caddys, your fish butt ugly $1K tops.
I don't care that he gives money to his church. How many criminals also give money to their churches? It's not going to go away and the more he brings you out into the chaos of what his campaign has become the more we don't like you or your husband! You are NOT an asset. Please get that through your head if there's any room in there in between the money.

Oh, brother! Here is someone who clearly does not understand the importance of transparency with regard to money in politics. Well, shame on you, Ann Romney. Donating money to your church has nothing to do with how you live your life. How you made your fortune is very important for voters to decide how your husband will behave in the future should he be elected and who he is ultimately beholden to. Just another example of how out of touch the Romneys are with real Americans.

Good for you Mrs. Romney! Let the liberals stew in their make believe world of how wonderful this administration has done. Bring on the distorted "spin" Libs.

The only reason to give and make public more tax returns is the people are asking for them. The logic that it gives their opponents more things to attack is flawed....Americans respect strength.....releasing the returns showes that!!!!

It sounds more each day that Romney and his wife are hiding something. And if in fact they are, it will be nice to see their campaign and their reputations ruined.

"All you people" – I completely understand Ann. I get frustrated too when the servants ask me questions. I mean really, don't they know they shouldn't even look me in the face let alone talk to me. My butler can talk to me, but the servants, please. Stand strong Ann.

Ah, the Left. The self-righteous hypocrites at it early again this morning. First, you seem so adamant about the taxes, have you personally read a line of his returns? I'll answer for you, no. It is just for Chicago-style, felon, smoke and mirrors to distract. Second, what the Left may want to look into is how many tax returns were submitted by John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. Where was the self-righteous indignation over no tax returns from a family worth more than Romney?

Choice theory suggests that the governor will:
1- Keep his tax docs and lose the election
2- release the and go to jail
    3- withdraw before the convention

Just release 12 years of your tax returns and prove to the American people that you are not tax cheaters.

What about those off shore accounts. The American people need to know more about those and how much money you hid in Swiss and Cayman island accounts.

Didn't Robme transfer money from Swiss account over to his wife the day before he took office in MA. Come on people are you going to vote for these out of touch folks.

"The election, again, will not be decided on that," she continued."

I'll bet you $10K it plays a very major role.

And BTW, I don't give a smelly rat's pink patoot how much money Deputy Doublethink gives to his church. What I DO care about is how much money in taxes he's purposefully avoiding on millions in income via tax code loopholes and preferential deductions for the extremely wealthy. We've got a freekin country to run here and it's having financial and economic problems and I WANT TO KNOW HOW COMMITTED THIS GUY IS IN HIS PERSONAL LIFE TO CONTRIBUTING TO FIXING THOSE PROBLEMS. Off-shore tax havens and magic $100M IRA accounts REQUIRE ANSWERS.
