(CNN) – Ann Romney stood firmly by her husband's commitment to release only two years of tax returns in an interview airing Thursday, saying the information already disclosed was plenty of transparency for the presumptive GOP nominee.
"There are so many things that will be open again for more attack, and you just give more material for more attack, and that's the answer. We've given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life," Mrs. Romney said on ABC.

"The election, again, will not be decided on that," she continued.
Romney has released his tax return from 2010, and an estimate for his 2011 information. He filed for an extension on submitting his taxes in April, and has vowed to release the full return when his accountant finalized the documents.
Democrats, and some Republicans, have urged Romney to disclose more of his tax information. Democrats say additional returns will clear up questions about offshore accounts and his rate of income tax, while Republicans say it would be politically advantageous to disclose more information.
In the interview airing Thursday, Ann Romney said the information already released showed Romney was a financially generous - and responsible - man.
"You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he's been financially," Mrs. Romney said. "He's a very generous person. We give 10% of our income to our church every year. Do you think that is the kind of person who is trying to hide things, or do things? No. He is so good about it."
The 2011 tax estimate released in January showed the Romneys gave $2.6 million to their church last year, more than 12% of the roughly $21 million they earned. The Romneys also gave $1.4 million last year in cash and stock to their family foundation, which heavily supports the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In 2010, the other year for which the Romneys released a federal tax return, they gave $1.5 million to the LDS church, 7% of their earnings, plus $900,000 to their family foundation, called the Tyler Foundation.
The Tyler Foundation gave $145,000 to the LDS church in 2010, so the Romneys' church donations average out to 10% over the last two years.

You have to be kidding me. As a practicing Independent I want to know everything that I can before making a decision. If you are unwilling to share ALL pertinent facts, then how can I know to trust you as my personal representative to the world. You want the job, share the facts. Seems to me that recently there was an issue with a CEO who overstated his qualifications. How do I know whether or not I can vote for him, or the other guy! I am not arguing wealth, nor religion, nor anything other than how can I trust you,when you conceal, not reveal.
I can't wait until the people elect Ann Romney for president! I mean, she's super duper for the job!! Comments on not picking a VP yet, on not releasing more tax returns... guess she's the hand up the back of the jacket. Yet another reason to vote like a gop! This nov. vote "NO!" to mittens and friends...
Personally, I can't stand her. Who does she think she's talking to (maybe one of her servants)? She seems to come off as angry and very pushy when "bothered" – something I never saw in Laura Bush. As far as her husband being generous-yes, he is when he's giving to his cult of which she is involved also. I sure hope Ann finds out its "not her turn" until the voters decide it is and hopefully, we will return the Romney's to their selfish, secretive, soul less lifestyle.
She probably didn't intend to say "you people" on tv. That's just how she and Mitt talk with each other about the American people and it slipped out.
She's seems rather clueless. They are asking us for the job, not the other way around. WE decide what we need to see, not them.

Ann's referring to people who question Romney's tax returns as "you people" reminds me of John McCain referring to President Obama as '"that one". The arrogance of the GOP is amazing.

Let's examine the make-believe world you and the righties live in.....tax cuts never cause debt and they always produce millions of jobs, the WMDs were real, ignoring health and safety regs is always good, education and infrastructure never need to be funded, and the GOP does not bear an ounce of responsibility for bringing on the biggest economic catastrophe since the 1930s. Your candidate is a man who made millions by outsourcing workers overseas, has evaded taxes and uses the pathetic excuse of a blind trust for not knowing where his money is, and you seem to think his arrogance is actually chutzpah? Its ignorance/arrogance born out of a sense of entitlement, and you endorse it: what kind of an American are you?
So, how many years of tax returns are you demanding from your VP candidates, and what would you say if
one of them asked "we've given all you people need to know"? They are being "interviewed" for a job, and
so are you Romney. If you demand more from a potential VP candidate than you are willing to give to the
American people, I don't think we want to hire you.
He tithes, so he's generous. Wow. A lot of people thithe, most don't because they can't. However, the volunteer time
they put in is just as important. So, quit patting yourself on the back for doing what millions of other people
do, in different ways.

Because there is any question whatsoever that Mitt Romney actually met his tax requirements? Like I said, the IRS is free to audit that. So if Obama has any question he should do his job and demand an audit instead of whining about it in speeches and in ads. Fact is, he is only scratching for political points. Pathetic what the office has become.
