Morgan Freeman gives pro-Obama PAC a million

(CNN) – Actor Morgan Freeman, currently starring in the latest installment of the Batman franchise, donated $1 million last month to the super PAC supporting President Barack Obama, the group's filings with the Federal Election Commission will show on Friday.

In a statement, Freeman listed the accomplishments he said spurred his donation to Priorities USA Action.

"Pres. Obama has done a remarkable job in historically difficult circumstances," Freeman wrote. "He ended combat operations in Iraq, put in place sensible reforms of Wall Street, saved the auto industry and protected the health care of every American. He has led our nation to be more tolerant and placed impressive, accomplished women on the Supreme Court."

The actor said he was "proud to lend my voice – and support – to those who defend him. Priorities USA Action is doing a great job of protecting the values I believe in. I am happy to help them and I hope others will join me."

Other Hollywood names have also donated to the pro-Obama super PAC, who has lagged behind rival groups supporting Republican challenger Mitt Romney in fund-raising. Jeffrey Katzenberg, the chief of DreamWorks, has donated $2 million to Priorities. Steven Spielberg and Bill Maher have also donated to the group.

Freeman, who won an Oscar in 2005 for his role in "Million Dollar Baby," currently stars as Lucius Fox, the man who builds Batman's armor, in "The Dark Knight Rises." He donated $2,300 to Obama ahead of the 2008 election, according to filings with the FEC.

Another Hollywood lib who has no clue about the economy, how jobs are created and what Obama is doing to small businesses. We no longer live in closed cell economies and Obama has taxed businesses either forcing them out of business because they cannot compete driving up costs or sending them overseas. It is a pure lie this man has NOT affected how business is done. Freeman aloso has not come to understand Obamacare....that has not helped the poorest of the poor, the tax is not enforceable and the tax won't begin to cover the cost of his program. This is not acceptable to lower insurance costs. Where is the common sense electing a man with no experience!!!! HYe would never get thru the door for an interview for CEO position of a large company but yet he is trying to lead the US? What a farce and it proves how uneducated the citizens are of this country. And by the way, race is not in the equation.

I pray for him an his family daily, along with Romney's because right now, its a toss-up. An whom ever is holding the highest job in America will need our prayers!

Morgan – If you feel so strongly about all that Obama has accomplished, why don't you and the rest of the Hollywood Elitists offer to pick up the increased taxes burden that will be required to pay for Obamacare? You may be able to afford to pay more or travel elsewhere if needed but the average American citizen cannot. Perhaps the choice will be pay for Obamacare or pay to watch your movies.

Legendary Actor, Morgan Freeman is one of my all-time favorite actors of all time. Every movie this legend has made was absolutely FABULOUS, to include "Lean On Me," "Along Came a Spider," "Unforgiven," etc...

While I like Morgan Freeman, his donating his own 1 million dollar donation to the Obama Super Pac disappoints me. That money could have been so well used in communities where people are really suffering and struggling to get food and clothing.

There are few more contemptible than wealthy people who are determined to raise taxes on everyone else, and that's exactly what supporting Obama will accomplish.

Stand up America, our President can't do it alone. President Kennedy said it best "Ask not what your country can do for you but what can you do for your country. Jesus said, "Give Cesar, what belong to Cesar and to God what belong to God"
    Romans 13 1-4
1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,

4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.

    What? I'm just saying! ๐Ÿ™‚

One of the FEW donors from either side who is NOT afraid to stand up and attach his name to a major donor. If you support your candidate – stand up and say so.

I am so pleased, Mr. Freeman .. good going. Our president needs all the help he can get, and I'm glad to see

Act less when Hollywood donors they don't want anything in return, unlike Wall Street , Kock and others that donotes to Romney there's a motive.......less regulation , right wing to the highest court.... and it's not to the best interest of the American People. Romney if not for the middle class we all know that, and if you don't something is wrong. Everything Romney do and say is a LIE, how can we trust him. One of his donors said that he needs to connect more with the common people. So what does that tells you about him...........put on you thinkers cap people !

Well, you know the first post you'll see is going to be something about how Morgan Freeman is now racist because he gave Obama money because they're both black. When it's the other way around it's not racist, it's patriotic. I just got to remember that it's summer and the kids are out of school. But someone needs to teach those lil brats that they should have some pride in their country and not to embarass the nation like that.

And CNN draws in the fools with stories like this to prove that the GOP is racist because they know the type of comments a story like this will generate. Shame on you CNN!

โ€œWhen people need good jobs you would think the president would focus all of his energy and his passion on helping people get jobs,โ€ Mr. Romney said. โ€œIn the last six months he has held 100 fundraisers and guess how many meetings he has had with his jobs council? None. Zero. Zero in the last six months, so it makes it very clear where his priorities are.โ€

I knew I liked Morgan Freeman! Thank you! I will be contributing money to a candidate for the first time this year. Obama is my choice, since Dennis Kucinich isn't running for President.

I don't think that this is a huge surprise. Doesn't Freeman fall along the liberal lines anyhow? He's got the money to spend. Remember, there are more so called conservative leaning wealthy than there are liberal. So, when someone donates a huge amount to an Obama ally it makes news. This doesn't go the same way for the GOP. They expect the money that they have taken to be used to protect it be electing those that won't tax them.

for a man who's career started by working with children. Thank you for caring. I hpoe others will join in against the billionaires who are trying to buy the white house. I've gave what I could afford, wish I had more to give. In a time when so much is at stake we need many more to step up to the plate. God bless you Mr.Freeman.

Who cares what this actor does, or Bon Jovi or any of the other super stars? None of this can change Obama's record of deficits, debt and unemployment. If Bush was a bad President, Obama has made things worse!
