(CNN) – A majority of Americans say presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney should release income tax information beyond the two years he's already disclosed.
The USA Today/Gallup survey showed 54% of those surveyed felt Romney should release tax returns from additional years, compared to 37% who said Romney should not release more returns.

Romney has released his tax return from 2010, and an estimate for his 2011 information. He filed for an extension on submitting his taxes in April, and has vowed to release the full return when the documents are finalized and filed.
Democrats, and some Republicans, have urged Romney to disclose more of his tax information. Democrats say additional returns will clear up questions about offshore accounts and his rate of income tax, while Republicans say it would be politically advantageous to disclose more information. President Barack Obama's campaign immediately blasted out the poll Thursday as an indication their campaign push is working.
In Thursday's poll, 30% of self-identified Republicans said Romney should release more of his returns, compared to 75% of Democrats and 53% of Independents who said the same.
The survey also showed respondents were divided on whether or not the tax return information was relevant to the campaign. Forty-seven percent said having more tax return information from Romney would be "largely irrelevant" to making a decision at the voting booth, compared to 44% who said the returns would provide ""legitimate information that helps voters make better decisions."
The Gallup/USA Today poll was taken by telephone on Wednesday from 539 adults. The sampling error was plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Do not release the tax returns. If he does he will just be playing into the hands of Dishonest Obama and his Chicago mafia friends and staff who are not releasing theirs. BTW he will release them in time and it is going to be a big nothing and it will make Obama look even worse than he does now.
Yea see if he does. He won't.
Mr. Romney has a 100 million dollar IRA. IRS rules limit IRA contributions to 30,000 per year. Please educate us Mitt. How does one turn 30K per year into 100M without paying taxes on it? My only guess is you own your IRA investment account and under reported the value of stock contributions to it thereby defrauding the goverment. A tax return would clear this issue up. Thanks.
I am all for privacy. However, as there is precident for making public several years of one's tax forms when running for President, and as Mr. Romney has made it quite clear he doesn't wish to do so, combined with the questionable 401 (k) information and the Bain issues, it would just seem to be prudent for him to let loose that data. Also as a question for Mr. Romney- you tell us you "know business" and are successful at same. Wouldn't making your tax returns public confirm that for the American voter?
Romney inside out . . . The true bane of his existence. The rude awakening of true Plutocracy in America. The hypocrisy of Greed and power will always cancel out true patriotism and leadership that is initially designed to serve the people. Question, how can someone who claim to love America, pillaged and plunder the American tax system by finding hidden loop holes, hiding money in offshore accounts, avoid serving in one of the most tragic wars in American history (vietnam), who really never did anything for anyone, it he couldn't benefit the most, have the Audacity to run for president of these United States? Romney's past actions or inactions, should be the bane of his self serving existence. Release you taxes now, so you can be properly vetted . . . Period.
BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA has a FAILURE PROBLEM
Face it lefties, Romney isn't going to play your stupid little gotcha games. He's too smart to dance to YOUR tune of distraction. Romney is winning in the polls because he offers competence and a plan to get this country moving again. Obama offers up nothing more than smoke and mirrors and class warfare and debt, debt, debt, debt......
Please Please Please share what Willard's plan is exactly – ANYTHING?!?!? – I have not heard any "plan" from him other than repealing the ACA and going to war with China,Iran, and "The Soviot Union" with a sprinkle of insults to the President – You People....
People want transparency from this administration yet we're not getting it at all.
It is an Absolute Fact that people at Mormon Corp Bain were fired simply by being other religions. They are very very RACIST BIGOTS at the Tabby Nackle Corporation of America..

Or you could call the IRS and find out from them.
If Rob-money is willing to risk the election because he refuses to come clean about his taxes, that suits me fine. In the end, he will do what causes him the least damage. If he doesn't release tax info for several years, we'll know that he would rather lose the election than have his secrets exposed.
Either way, he will lose. Those who've pointed to polls showing him tied or ahead of the President are missing a few polls (and a few marbles), like the one where even most R's believe Obama will be re-elected. It's all downhill for Rob-money from now on.
Could we please start reporting on things that matter? This is just stupid. What's next, two weeks worth of " do you wear boxers or briefs?"

I understand that it can be done like this. Start a company where you are sole owner and share holder. Create an IRA that purchases those stock shares for a penny. Over time the shares increase twofold, then tenfold and more, by putting money into the company. Before you know it those 100,000 shares that you purchased for a penny each are now worth ten dollars each, or $100 million dollars. Easy as pie
This is starting to get real old, He needs to understand that he not just do what he wants to. Yes his rich and I feel out of touch with us lower animal, but at the same time if he wants the big job in wash then he need to stop thinking that he is better than any one else and show the goods. Now there are only so many things can happen. 1. go to jail, 2 pay back a lot of money, 3 go to jail and pay back money, last and I hope not become the big man in DC. Man I just thought about what I said, 4, got to jail payback money and not become the big man in DC in one sweep.
I am sure that his tax information is none of my business and don't think it's any of yours. I didn't see this uproar when Kerry wouldn't release is tax information or when the president ignored the public wanting to see his birth certificate. Maybe the media should concentrate on their platform and answers about how to heal the nation instead of trying to stir the pudding about trivial issues that have nothing to do with the central issues of the election.
What I would like to know is whether Romney released his Tax Returns in 2008 during VP vetting of McCain, and for how many years. If he did that time, why can't he do it now when he is seeking for the higher position!
Why are you hiding the TRUTH, Etch-A-Sketch?
Either come clean, or GET OUT.
Oh, and while we are at it, let's see YOUR birth certificate! Your family hated America enough to move to MEXICO, now you want to be President of the country your family fled?
5 sons and not ONE bothered to SERVE HIS COUNTRY.
I dont know about you , but I have to submit my Resume when I apply for a JOb
Come on Romney....Show us the Tax returns....I don't care how much you have in the bank..I just want to know if you are A MAN who I can trust for the President...I don't know why you want to hide those...If there are nothing wrong...Poor GOP who supporting him...about the Poll that he and Obama are tie now...because they are waiting for Romney...to reveal his Tax return or not...You will see the real result in November..
@BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA has a FAILURE PROBLEM
You're living in the most civilized nation in the world, the United States of America. Education is pretty much free at any at the lower level, it seems like a litte education will do you very good. Why don't you take the opportunity to at least learn a little something for you own good so you can stop posting those ignorant comments. Think about it, your future will be brighter!
Aren't the law and order types the first to say "If you have nothing to hide"" blah blah blah......WELL???? Seems to me Romney can stop the circus anytime...so what's he waiting for??? Is he playing possum or does he not really give a damn! Worst case is he's hiding something.....tic tic tic.

Ummm, what? Obama released his, and all the other Republican candidates released theirs, the only one left is Romney, who thinks that what the democrats would find in his tax returns is WORSE than not releasing them at all. But no, dummy, you hope that if Mitt is elected, he will shower his wealth onto you, but he won't, he'll just take what little you have
