(CNN) – The campaigns for the two presidential candidates said Friday they were asking television stations to discontinue airing some political advertisements following a deadly shooting in Colorado.
Presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney's campaign will pull all television ads in Colorado, the candidate's spokeswoman Andrea Saul said.
President Barack Obama's traveling campaign press secretary Jen Psaki initially told reporters aboard Air Force One the president's campaign would pull "contrast advertising."
A campaign official later said the Obama campaign, like Romney's team, would pull all television ads in Colorado.
The campaign explained they, like Romney's team, would pull ads only in Colorado.
An advertisement slamming Romney for reports of offshore accounts is currently in heavy rotation from Obama's campaign.
On Friday Romney's campaign released an ad hitting Obama for remarks he made regarding small business last week in Virginia.
American Crossroads, a conservative super PAC, also said Friday it would suspend airing ads in Colorado. The group announced Thursday it was spending more than $15 million to air an ad criticizing Obama's economic record and deflecting attacks on Romney's record as a businessman.
Its Democratic-leaning counterpart, Priorities USA, said in a tweet that it would suspend its ad buy in Colorado as well.
Ted van Tol – The question is why did this tragedy happen?
A crazy person went off the deep end.
WHAT ABOUT THE CRAZY GUNLAWS IN THE USA. ENYONE CAN SHOOT EVERYBODY LIKE IT WERE INDIANS!
THATS WHY! WHERE IS CHRISTIANITY IN THIS?
What crazy gun laws? There are thousands of them. You cannot out law insanity. And why bring religion into this? Maybe the guy was an atheist, who knows? It is irrelevant.
We need more times of agreement like this over less tragic things. It would be nice to have everyone at least talk TO EACH OTHER rather AT EACH OTHER because there is a difference.
I would imagine Mitt had some ads backed by the NRA planned and, of course, he should wait a day for two so can create some ads to defend them. Wait, who was it who made sure people could have assault rifles, of yeah the NRA/Republicans.
It should not go unnoticed that President Obama cancelled his speaking engagements immediately while Romney is going right on with all his fundraisers, not even skipping a beat. Also Romney's twitter post on this had the incorrect # of victims (15). I can't vote for someone who can't even get basic facts straight.
Nothing exists w/o our involvement or lack of it; w/o our support or tacit agreement; w/o our informed consent or abdication of such – and once we decide to shoulder responsibility, there's still the matter of the other 306-7 Million, or 6 – 7 Billion. You are no less than one, they are no more. The reasons behind our actions mirror only our integrity and humanity.
good, political adds are like 50% of the advertising...too bad it took something like this to make people come to their senses.
It's time we open our eyes and get our Guns to some control. Let's stop using this thing of freedom of arms and killing people. Lets promote respect of life and guns.
My condolence to all that will have such memories. I' m sorry Aurora, Co.
Romney's camp cannot wait to create a new ad condeming Obama's poor gun control laws. Wait ! Isn't it the GOP who keep protecting the 2nd Amendment rights and side with NRA? Oops. Go buy ten more AK47 in Arizon next week.
