Obama to phone in to firefighters convention

Philadelphia (CNN) – President Barack Obama will speak to a firefighters union convention on Thursday by telephone, the union president told CNN on Wednesday.

Harold A. Schaitberger, general president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, confirmed to CNN the president's expected phone call only after announcing to the gathering that "a very important person from Washington D.C." would telephone in the morning. In that announcement, Schaitberger did not name the "person," but implored those in attendance to not miss hearing the phone call.

Vice President Joe Biden addressed the group in person on Wednesday. The 51st IAFF convention ends Friday. Over 3,000 firefighters are in attendance. The IAFF endorsed the re-election of the president and vice president in June.

Yet ANOTHER union appearance by both Biden and Obama.... The leftists union owners of the Democrat Party play the music and expect Obama and Biden to dance around on a string. The rest of the countries non-union workers be damned. So yes, definitely don't miss the puppet show, I mean phone call. BTW, bring your wallets. The puppet is running short of cash.

Romney is like the little brother that won't go away. He follows you around doing the same things u do or say but never gets it just right. Some people like him but he lies a lot so they don't trust him. He may one day learn how to be mature but that after he cleans his room. Oh well. At least his big brother is responsible and does stuff that has benefitted his little brother. Do you see my point.

Mitt Romney wants to get rid of firefighters and policemen. Mitt Romney thinks that small government means cutting back on essential services provide to protect The People.

No, smaller government is supposed to mean trimming bureacracies of duplicate services and other waste. It does not mean cutting back on the first line of defense that civilians have within our borders.

I fell in love with firemen and fire trucks when I was a kid. They used to always bring Santa Claus to the parades.

firefighters are very brave men and women, just like the ones in uniform. keep in mind that the vast majority of firefighters are volunteers, unpaid citizens that rush in to burning buildings to help people. My Dad just celebrated 65 years as a volunteer firefighter as a charter member of a small rural fire dept. Of course he stopped going to fires many years ago, but he is still a firefighter in mind. We need to lift all of them up and we need to make sure they are funded.

    Romney economics is seriously flawed.

Remember the good old days when right wingnuts could use the "N" word? Now they have to call someone a socialist, Marxist, communist, or foreigner to get the same effect.

Third world countries don't have unions, don't have a middle class, don't have a high standard of living. That is why the GOP is hell bent on destroying the unions, the middle class, and have ruined the standard of living.

You People – Mittens also was railing against more policemen and teachers. After all, thanks to the OP, they are members of the shrinking middle class.

Must not have the big bucks like the Hollywood elite. He will meet with 10 of them at a time.. Still no Jobs Council meeting though, and no recommendations on debt reduction other than to start class warfare and punish the non dope smokers and people who are not corrupt union bosses with higher taxes and more regulations.

Sorry am off topic, but so long as the issue of "you didn't build that" has dominated the news, I would like to explain a little bit about it. We make business and we do not build it. But we build, which means construct for example the house, the bridge, school etc. etc. If you take this meaning, you will understand what the President was referring to. It was the bridge and NOT the business.

I pay for fire fighters and police like every other American, with my local taxes. These are local hiring decisions. If we need them and can afford them we hire them, if not we don;t.

Why does Obama think the federal government needs to stick their nose in my cities business with regards to police and fire fighters? Does he have some campaign contributors that need jobs?

I'm sure the fire fighters are thrilled.
