(CNN) – The super PAC supporting Mitt Romney said Friday it will spend $1 million to air a radio ad in battleground states hitting President Barack Obama for his campaign's negative attacks.
The spot from pro-Romney group Restore Our Future claims Obama is resorting to negativity because his record on the economy is weak.

"Imagine you were Barack Obama. What would you do now?" an announcer in the ad asks.
She continues: "You spent a trillion taxpayer dollars on the stimulus. It failed. The jobless rate went up and has been stuck above 8 percent for 41 straight months. You increased spending so wildly that you've added more debt than the first 41 presidents – combined."
The ad cites former Democratic President Bill Clinton in praising Romney, saying the presumptive GOP nominee was "earning praise from Bill Clinton for his 'sterling business career.'"
That's a reference to an interview Clinton did with CNN's Piers Morgan in May, when he said Romney met the basic qualifications for becoming president.
"The man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold," Clinton said.
The super PAC ad released Friday goes on to claim that Obama's spate of campaign attacks are a tactic designed to disguise his poor record.
"With no record to run on, it's the only strategy Obama has left," the ad claims.
Restore Our Future said the radio ad would air statewide in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Spending went up because of Obama's policies? FACT CHECK: Obama inherited a ~1.5T budget DEFICIT
Unemployment went up because of Obama's policies? FACT CHECK: Obama's new economic policies ended the GREAT RECESSION and lowered the unemployment rate he inherited
When you use lies in your ads, that is negative.
Bill
Romeny really need better advisors. This is a joke.

Hey, Bill. I tried to suggest on the VP thread that whoever Mitt picks as VP will experience a career ending moment, but apparently CNN shut the comments down on me. I don't think it matters who is on TeamRomney at this point. It's a losing campaign and I seriously doubt anyone considering their own careers will be going out of their way to sign up on what is fast becoming the worst campaign in modern history. So what he's got is what he's got. Well, that and the fact that Romney is running it his way ... to the detriment of his own advisors who aren't exactly going out of their way to be "seen" politically united with Romney anymore.
Actually, to be fair, Mittens has taken one or two (depending on how you count them) rigid positions with respect to his desire to be POTUS: He fervently believes he is above the requirements of being open, honest, honorable and transparent with the Amurikan people, as evidenced by his refusal to release his tax returns and his destruction of the both the records of his management of the Utah Olympics and his record as MA governor.
Negative ads about negative ads tell viewers two things: whoever produced them are bullies that cry and run to mama the first time anyone fights back, and 2) that there maybe facts in the original ads that whoever produced the new ones feel threatened by.
Once again, the Romney campaign is really campaigning for Obama to win.
@rob – Romney and his surrogates are running on the facts.
--------------------------
What facts are those Rob??? Willard has not produce a platform, manifesto or plan of any kind during this campaign other than "Obama bad. Me good!!". If you call those facts then you deserve everything you get in Nov.
To rob....no record to run on. Yet, the US economy is actually growing and has been for two straight years. Bush left office with unemployment at 7.8 and now it is 8.2. It could be lower with the passage of Obama's Job Act. Saved US auto industry, 26 months of private sector job growth, 17 tax cuts for small businesses.
By the way, the fiscal cliff: agreement between the GOP and Obama to reduce the budget deficit. No the GOP want to back out like a bunch scared children.
Obama has a record to run on...and he will run on it.
so they are spending millions of dollars on a negative attack on Obama over negative attacks? Makes sense to me!
He's a cry baby bully! He would make a TERRIBLE pres.!
First time I'm voting for a Dem for Pres! OBAMA 2012! Mitt would slide this county back to the early 70's!
Can someone please refresh my memory......but didn't Willard start out with negative campaigning?? I seem to remember him decimating both Gingrich and Santorum. Poor Santorum was attacked so bad he had to pull out of the primary before his state even voted. Also Mittens was attacking President Obama then too and he wasn't even the nominee yet. President Obama had all positive ads until he finally started fighting back and now Willard is complaining?? What a typical bully. Willard reminds me of a bully I used to fight in elementary school. He would pick on everyone he thought was weaker than him until he ran up on the wrong one. One day he thought he had another victim until that person gave him a good old fashioned butt whipping. The bully ran off crying to the teacher. Willard reminds me so much of him.
While you're crying Willard, don't forget we still want to see those taxes, sking along
@ logi_101
Using your logic, then its the Dems fault for the financial meltdown in 2008. The Dems took controll of both the House (Repubs have only the House now) and the Senate in Jan 2007 when the unemployment was less than 5% and the last fiscal deficit was under $200 billion. We all know what happened just 18 months later.
continuation...along with your long form birth certificate and college transcripts.
OBAMA 2012!
NEGATIVE ATTACKS: The most vile and negative attack was done to President Obama on day one by Republican House Minority Leader Mitch McConnell when he said "the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one term President".
So It's ok for Romney campaign to do negative attacks, but not Obama's?
"Obama 2012"
On the VP thing, I don't think they will need Rubio. After all, Mittler is a son of a Mexican immigrant, so hispanics should flock to him, right? I mean, he relates so well to all immigrants.
So a negative attack ad...to oppose the other sides negative attack – Gotcha – no wonder I stopped following this election – it's like two retards playing ping pong and we're all forced to watch.
Hey Darrell,
Unemployment rates still over 8%, Trillion dollar deficits, the largest tax increase ever coming from the fiscal cliff and ObamaCare and GDP growth at 1.5% is no record to run on. The only real policy proposal from the Dems is raising taxes on "The Rich" to pay for more stimulus.
It's not negative to question Mitt's wealth the way it's being questioned in the presidents ads. I don't think anyone is saying that wealth is bad or we should hate wealthy people, quite the contrary. What is being said is...how did he obtain his wealth, what did he do with it once he had it, and did he support AMERICA, the land that gave him that opportunity, by paying his taxes to our great country. I don't think he did. I think he became ever more greedy, ever more unscrupulous, and ever more secretive and detached from the real world. Why not just release his taxes. No one cares about how much he made, just was he fair about it. Shouldn't we have this information before we make a decision?
@ NOT BACKWARD into the GOP FISCAL ABYSS
You need to get news from other places than CNN and MSNBC, then you will read about Romney's proposals.
That's rich (no pun intended) coming from the king of attack ads – Willard Mitt Romney. If his business career and time as governor is so sterling, why is he so hesitant to speak of it. According to him, we can't question his time at Bain and he himself is reluctant to speak of his time as governor – Romneycare. The stimulus did not fail. It may not have worked as well as it could have – trying to get Republicans to sign on by including massive tax breaks – but it is an absolute lie to say it failed. Just think where we would be without it. It is ironic they are whining about attack ads in an attack ad.
OBAMA/BIDEN/FIRST LADY MICHELLE 2012!!!!!
For a change of pace why don't we include coverage of Gary Johnson Libertarian. Why must we stuck with two choices.
Wow - a negative ad about negative ads. How recursive can we be? No wonder this country is in trouble! Why propose a solution when it is so much easier to just criticize the other guy for criticizing you? And so on, and so on, and so on...
Now, would anyone care to make a negative comment about negative comments about negative ads about negative ads? It could be the next big thing. We could fill up the whole Internet with this stuff
A heads up to all you righties. There is a reason Romney does not want his taxes made public and we all know why, he is a crook and by releasing them it would be out right proof. Now hear is the heads up, around the first part of october Obama is going to drop a bomb shell on the flip flopper which will destroy any hope this flipper ever had.
Hmm. Unemployment was at 6.1% when the crash hit in September 2008 and rose swiftly from there to 8.7% in March 2009. The Recovery Act was passed on February 13, 2009. The steep increase flattened almost immediately, peaked at 10 percent in October 2009 and then, as stimulus projects got off the ground, started a decline that has continued, with little hiccups here and there, through today. The unemployment rate now is lower than it was in March 2009.
Thus: this statement – "You spent a trillion taxpayer dollars on the stimulus. It failed. The jobless rate went up and has been stuck above 8 percent for 41 straight months" – is a massive, easily disproven lie.
Well done, lying Republicans. You've given up on actually trying to pretend you're not lying. Enjoy the next four years of whining and rending of clothes.
An attack ad whining about attack ads.
How very....GOP/Tea.
Quit whining Messiah Mitt.
Release your financials Messiah Mitt.
So Romneys campaign advisors are complaining saying the incumbents factually negetive attack ads should stop and Romney, what about his ads..The president is hitting Romney where it hurts, telling the unsaviory truth about the Mormon morons stings in business with Bain and his Palinistic shot as governor of Massachusetts, those dirty facts about him being destroyed before leaving office, hey Romney, got something to hide did ya!!!How he just recently went to London to spruce up on his foriegn affairs ,taliking with Cameron and ended up at a campaign fund raiser with the majority of Londoners wanting Romney expelled because of his snide remarks about the Olympics and how he compared them to his Salt Lake Olympics years before. Will Romney last to the debates, only if his staffers that put out fires that Romney starts with his obnoxious, arrogent mouth can hold on,otherwise he's done and republicans had better start begging Ron Paul,he's the only clown left after Romney...
