Romney trip begins in shambles

LONDON (CNN) – If only Mitt Romney could turn the Olympic torch on the newspaper headlines in London.

He's the "Party Pooper" in the Daily Mail, "Nowhere Man" in the Times of London and "Mitt the Twit" in The Sun.

    "ROMNEY TRIP BEGINS IN SHAMBLES"

Didn't see this coming, did we, America? (wink, wink)

It's a well deserved put-down for an arrogant fool who might - just might - want to do some very serious and much needed soul searching. For as much as I would never have voted for Santorum or Gingrich, they did get the tail end of Romney's contempt for anything but his beloved wealth and his over bloated ego of himself. Not sure where he's coming from and frankly I don't care. Fact is, this contender/pretender is NOT equipped emotionally to become the next President of the United States.

    Nowhere Man, indeed.

Romoney is so out of touch when interacting with humans. It's painfully awkward for everyone.
This guy is so wealthy he has a dancing horse – and his dancing horse is so unique it's in olympics. Really, a freakin' dancing horse in the olympics?!
And the English who you might think is where dancing horses came from, they feel even more awkward with Romoney?!

He's shot himself in the foot AGAIN!
He can't even criticize his President (yes that would be Obama) because he's played himself out to be a complete moron to the international community all conveniently gathered and FOCUSED on what's happening in London these days due to the Olympics.
My God is a HUGE and RIGHTEOUS God.
There couldn't have been a more PUBLIC arena for Mittens to reveal how unfit he is to be our President than the 2012 Olympics in London.
Way to go Romney!! The world WAS watching you but not anymore.
Obama 2012. Because America deserves the very BEST.

What was the headline for that photo in the London papers? "Nightmare on Downing Street"?

The use of the work "shambles" is overblown, and doesn't fit the context. Writers like to throw out words that grab attention, even when they aren't a good fit with what is really being covered.

A title that would be more balanced and to the point, might read something like "Mitt's missed opportunity on the world stage."

The real problem is that he went to England without a plan or a message of his own. When he had no plan for the story he wanted the papers to write about the trip, he left himself open to whatever spin the more tabloid oriented British papers wanted to put on his visit. He needed to have a strategy for how he want to be perceived going in. Had he controlled the larger message, the small talk would have been just that – petty small talk by the gossipy British tabloids.

We'll see if he actually has something he wants to say in his visit to Poland and Israel, or if he thinks that being a glad handing smiling tourist is what these trips are all about.

How on earth can you blame the democrats? Your guy says something STUPID and you blame the liberals? Why don't you blame the British people while you're at it? GEEZ talk about sheep.

"Aww.. Poor Mitt... Bets on how long it takes for him to screw-up in Israel?"

That one will be harder to convince people of (or to get the GOPers/Teatrolls being defensive about like they are with this one). What he's likley to do is pander so gloriously to Israel's interests that he inflames the Palestinian leadership, which half of us will recognize as a diplomatic error and poor choice for setting himself up as someone who can broker peace, while the other half will cheer for it because they love shoot-from-the-hip chest-thumping tough-talk wave a big stick around while yelling cowboy diplomacy, which isn't really diplomacy at all.

Brian Williams is like Katy: asking those repubs those 'gotcha' questions.
Mitts wasn't ready for such a hard hitting interview.
Not ready to be President, either.

Oh, I dunno about that. Nothing draws the attention like a good trainwreck...or a puppet tapdancing in clown shoes, as the case may be. I feel bad for him though. He so desperately wants to be a real boy....

Let's see, PM David Cameron had to apologize because the South Korea flag was shown while the North Korea women athletes were doing their warm-ups and Taiwan demanded an explanation as to why their flag was replaced with their Olympic committee flag and they also received an apology. The Longon Mayor was confused and had not been informed as to why the Bells were ringing on a particular minute and so far in advance and caused confusion. Seems to me the English are on their way to their usual problem with organization, if any of you have ever been to England you would know what I am talking about.

This guy is going to force the President to Really have to go on that World Apology he's been lying about for the past year. Except this won't be a world apology tour this will be a Apoigize to the for Mitt Romney Tour. He is an embarrassment. Maybe if the Adelson stuffs more money in his mouth he will keep quite long enough to prevent an international incident with Isreal or Russia before he get home.

    @freelance
GOP should go all out on Obama over the GDP. Also, need to make sure we obstruct and make the next quarter GDP negative, so we can win the elections. GOP & Tea Party are a bunch of Patriots. I know we can do it.

When the Confederacy burnt Atlanta it was a wast of a match ! The GOP and Tea Party will do anything to stop progress , anything.
