Romney on to Israel

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has boarded his charter flight from England to Israel for the next leg of his overseas trip.

Joining him on the flight are his wife Ann Romney, son Josh and a slew of policy advisers.

After a bruising trip to England, the GOP contender did not make any comments to his traveling press corps in the rear of the plane.

The aircraft is adorned with photographs of Romney on the campaign trail.

Aides on the plane briefly held up then lowered an Israeli flag a few rows ahead of journalists seated on the plane. It was a brief reminder of the high stakes that lie ahead for a visit to a region that poses a more challenging diplomatic test than the nation Romney is leaving behind.

Prior to their departure from England, Romney and his wife watched an Olympic swimming event.

Romney commented to several staffers about the swimming event aboard the plane. "It was good, it was good, yeah," he said.

Ann Romney added, apparently referring to his finish in the 400 meter individual medley, "Michael Phelps barely made it. Barely. .07 seconds."

In an interview on Friday, Romney weighed in on the rivalry between US Olympic swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, saying he thought it "more likely" Phelps would come out ahead.

One traditional ally offended, more on the way. Romney should hire a manners adviser, before we lose all of our allies.

This is going to become awkward, the Jewish state has not embraced Mormonism and barely allowed the LDS to construct any buildings that would be used to proselytise on Israel's soil.
Growing up I saw first hand how disrepectful Mormons can be when the cemetary my Holocaust survivior father was buried, the head stones were kicked over and damaged. I spoke with a friend of twenty plus years that was a Mormon about the damage, he laughed about it, he and his inlaws owned the property directly across the street.
No Israel do not honor this man in any way.

Has the wind come out of Mitt's sails. Not much to say???? If Romney needs Israel and the turmoil of the middle east to bring clearness into his trip.....he has failed!!! Great leaders and politicians work in the minute nuance of diplomacy....There is none of that with regards to American relations with Israel. Every president has supported them and it is no different today.

We are running a pool guessing how long it will be before Mitt Romney insults Israel. I've got 1hour and 5 minutes. I hope he can make it that long.

I wonder if the people of Isreal have been paying attention to Romneys flip-flopping on almost everything he is questioned on.Isreal needs the Leader of the U.S. to mean what they say and say what they mean and stand solid behind it.They want safety and security and President who can absolutely guarantee their future.Romney has not shown any kind of Leadership here in the U.S. let alone any kind of dialect on Foreign Policys on any level. The people of Isreal better be careful of this man.

  7. Hey, Mittens, got any more of those 100K Bain jobs for doing nothing? 'Call Me, Maybe'?

If the Israel leg goes as "swimmingly" as the London segment, by the time Mittens leaves, the Israelis will have the nukes pointed at us instead of Iran!

Photos of himself put up in the press plane? Really? This is almost as bad as those made-in-China pins of himself he made for the SLC Olympics.

There is nothing bad like trying to show off how much you know, all of the sudden you show off what you do not know. It is sad the whole world has witnessed how low Romney is in showing diplomacy. I wish his visit in London was not done at the time when the world community is gathered together. He can try to brush this off while in Israel and Poland, but the damage has already been made, and has stuck in peoples mind.

Mitt, make sure you tell Netanyahoo that when you become president, the United States will increase aid to them by billions of dollars. We should be sending to Israel $50 billion a year of tax payer money. Tell him that the US taxpayer is a stupid fool and that they support it.

They hatred and stupidity of democrat liberals reallly shiows through in the reponses to this item At least he is not going to every country and apologizing for being an American like that incompetent, corrupt, inept, union toady that the SEIU/ACORN stole the 2008 election for. Remember also that according to the Kenyan village idiot and his hair plugged vice president 2010 was the "summer of properity" after they gave away a trillion tax dollars to the dope addicts, welfare frauds and corrupt union bosses.

Thank God! Now, if he can just watch what he says in Israel and Poland,..we're "home free"! Next time, Mitt, limit those "overseas" visits to family vacations and "visitation rights" trips to see your money in Switzerland, the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas.

  20. Time For Mitt to Fess Up

Mitt has reportedly told staff members he needs to change things up.. let the people of Isreal know he is not the stiff cardboard cut out that the american press says he is. "I am planning on hamming it up and yet show respect for the people." He said while eating his breakfast of ham, eggs and toast, with two strips of bacon on the side.

  21. Just a thought

Pres. Obama may make mistakes, and is not perfect, but no one is. However, our current POTUS knows how to handle himself. This Schmitt Slob-bain-on-me is a sickening disaster. Any idiot that supports this guy should have his/her voting card revoked. Mittens is a stiff, foolish, rich loud mouth that represents nothing except greed, lies and stupid GOP/Tea-a-tard idiocy. I don't think he is as vapid as the Tea-Fools, but those are the only idiots dumb enough to support him.

  23. If Obama did it, I can do it better

Dreaming about his trip oversea's Romney see's thousands and thousands of people lining the streets, waiting to hear him speak like they did Obama in 2008. He thought his dream had come true yesterday as he walked the streets of London.. but was brought to reality when the traffic cop yelled out to him.."Get out of streets you nit wit... the Olympic torch is right behind you."

Netanyahu thinks he's got another GW Bush on his team. Remember when he said "Bush is the best friend
Israel has ever had". That's because Bush let them do anything they wanted with no worries about the
    consequences.
Romney will do the same thing, like they say, on steroids. War with Iran! This should be easy.

Bout time he left! Now he can go destroy the U.S image in another country!! He has no manners, no idea how to represent America abroad! What a joke that he has to go and "represent" us to other countries, as if he has already won the election! God help us if he does!!! He doesn't have a clue on foreign policy!!
